While Wilson Fisk was busy orchestrating his plan against Spider-Man, Peter Parker was facing a completely different highly unwanted crisis back at Midtown High.

Surviving a corporate board meeting or fighting criminals was nothing compared to navigating the hormonal battlefield of a high school lockdown.

The sudden shift in Peter Parker’s social life wasn’t because he suddenly got a haircut or started wearing tighter clothes.Full novel: Transmigrate into Marvel Universe as Spider-man — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In fact, he still wore oversized, thrift-store flannels and baggy jeans to hide his physique.

He still let his hair fall into his eyes and he still faked a slightly uncoordinated slouch.

The real reason the girls at Midtown High were suddenly losing their minds over him was entirely psychological.

Having becoming a corporate financial adult in his previous life, Peter completely outgrown teenage insecurity.

He didn’t care about being cool.

He didn’t stutter around pretty girls because to his adult brain, they were just kids.

This created an incredibly rare trait in a high school environment of zero social desperation.

When a girl talked to him, he didn’t try to impress her.

He listened with absolute, undivided attention.

He made steady, unblinking eye contact with a calm, deeply observant gaze that felt older and wiser than anyone else in the room.

In a hallway filled with boys shouting for attention, Peter’s quiet, hyper intelligent indifference acted become a spot light.

One of the encounter happen in English class with Sally Avril, a popular cheerleader who was used to boys tripping over themselves to agree with her.

They were paired up to analyze a classic romance novel.

Sally decided to use her usual charm to get Peter to do all the writing.

She leaned in close, flipping her hair and gave him a pouty look.

“Peter, I really don’t understand this chapter.

My brain is just totally fried today.

You’re so smart, could you just…

handle the thesis statement?”

In the past, the old Peter would have blushed, stuttered, and stayed up all night doing the work just to make her happy.

Instead, this Peter slowly turned his head.

His eyes were entirely deadpan, calm and mildly amused.

He looked at her not with anger but with the specific patience of a corporate manager dealing with an intern trying to cut corners.

“Sally” Peter said with his voice a smooth entirely relaxed baritone.

“You have a 4.0 in history and you analyzed MacBeth perfectly last week.

Your brain isn’t fried.

You’re just practicing basic optimization by outsourcing your labor.

I respect the hustle, but we’re splitting the paragraphs 50-50.

You write the intro, I’ll do the summary”.

Sally’s jaw dropped.

He hadn’t raised his voice.

He hadn’t been mean.

He had just seen right through her, broken down her strategy using economic terms, and smiled at her with a look of absolute, unshakeable confidence.

Instead of being mad Sally felt a sudden, bizarre flutter in her stomach.

A guy had just told her ‘no’ without even blinking.

She leaned closer, her eyes wide.

“So what are you trying to say?

I am smart?!”.

“A highly capable one” Peter smiled gently, turning back to his notebook.

“Now open to page forty”.

For the rest of the period, Sally couldn’t stop staring at the side of his face, completely mesmerized by how terrifyingly cool he was.

Second encounter happen in the hallway, Peter was trying to open his notoriously jammed locker.

He was deliberately faking being weak, sighing loudly and pretending he couldn’t turn the rusty dial.

Liz Allan, the school’s reigning queen bee, happened to be standing nearby with her friends.

Noticing Flash walking towards her across the hall, she quickly looked around and notice Peter situation.

Ignoring Flash, She walk over towards Peter said “Need some help, Parker?

I can call a freshman to open that for you”.

Peter stopped, letting his hands drop.

He didn’t look embarrassed.

He didn’t shrink away.

He slowly leaned his shoulder against the locker, crossing his arms, and looked down at Liz.

Noticing Flash walking away in annoyance, Peter answered “Thanks but no thanks, Liz.

Honestly speaking, you’re either lost or you’re using this conversation as a buffer to avoid talking to Flash after your fight yesterday”.

Liz froze.

Her friends gasped.

The fight with Flash had been a total secret.

Peter didn’t gloat.

He just gave her a warm, incredibly understanding smile that kinda look like an older brother “For what it’s worth, you’re right.

He was being a jerk.

You deserve better”.

He turned back, gave the locker a precise gentle tap and it instantly clicked open.

He grabbed his textbook and walked away with a casual wave.

Liz stood frozen in the hallway, her face burning a bright, radiant crimson.

“Did…

did Parker just read my mind?” she whispered to her friends.

“Why does he suddenly look sooo….

hot?!”.

Gwen Stacy sat at a laboratory desk in the back of the AP Chemistry room with her chin resting in her hand.

She wasn’t looking at the chalkboard.

Her eyes were fixed on the door, waiting for a specific, oversized flannel shirt to walk through it.When Peter finally entered, he looked as thoroughly average as always.

He slipped into the stool next to her, offering a quiet, apologetic nod.

“Hey, Gwen.

Sorry I’m late.

The subway lines are still acting up”.

“They’ve been acting up for weeks, Peter,” Gwen said, her eyes narrowing as she began scrutinizing him.

She wasn’t just a science prodigy but also a detective’s daughter.

Her father was Captain Stacy, a man who taught her to read people’s posture and expressions.

“Is your hand okay?” Gwen asked suddenly, pointing toward his right wrist.

Peter looked at his wrist seeing a faint red friction burn from a tight web-line this morning.

Peter said “Oh, yeah.

Just a little accident with Aunt May’s ancient toaster.

It, uh…

aggressively ejected a Pop-Tart”.

Gwen didn’t laugh.

She leaned closer, her sharp blue eyes locking onto his.

“You’re a terrible liar, Peter.

And this past few months you’ve been acting…

different”.

Peter internally groaned.

‘Note to self analytical girls are dangerous’ before saying “Different?

I’m exactly the same”.

“No” Gwen said, her voice dropping into a quiet, intense whisper that cut through the background hum of the classroom’s Bunsen burners “I can’t pinpoint it but your seem different”.

Before Peter could come up with a suitably nerdy excuse, the chemistry teacher Mr.

Harrison, clapped his hands to get the class’s attention said “Alright, everyone, listen up”.

Mr.

Harrison announced “Today we are doing a high-pressure distillation practical.

You and your partner will be working with volatile, pressurized chemical compounds.

If your pressure valves exceed three atmospheres, the glass will shatter.

Pay attention to your gauges, or you’ll be sweeping up glass and failing the quarter”.

For the next twenty minutes, the lab was filled with the hiss of steam and the nervous chatter of students.

Gwen handled the measurements with clinical precision, while Peter managed the heat distribution.

Then across the room, disaster struck.

Flash Thompson and his lab partner had completely ignored the instructions, leaving their burner on high while the exit valve remained completely locked.

HISS…

A terrifying, high-pitched shriek tore through the classroom as Flash’s glass flask began to rapidly expand and start fracturing under massive pressure.”It’s gonna blow!” Flash yelled as he duck under his desk.

The entire classroom erupted into a blind, screaming panic.

Students scrambled backward, knocking over stools and dropping equipment.

Mr.

Harrison lunged for a fire blanket but he was too far away.

The fractured glass was less than a second away from exploding into a hail of razor sharp shrapnel directly toward the center aisle which is right where Gwen was standing.

Peter’s Spider-Sense tingled but he couldn’t use his power.

He had to resolve this using purely normal human limitations or his cover was blown forever.

Using basic physics Peter acted.

Instead of jumping or screaming, Peter grabbed a heavy, thick-gauge textbook from their desk.

With a completely calm deliberate stride, he stepped directly in front of Gwen and pivot his body to shield her entirely.

Holding the heavy book up to cover the side of his neck and head.

BANG!

The flask detonated.

Shrapnel rained across the room, peppering the lockers and walls with sharp, stinging glass.

A large, jagged shard sliced violently through the air, embedding itself deep into the thick cardboard cover of the textbook Peter was holding.

Another small piece grazed his shoulder, tearing a neat line through his flannel shirt.

Through the entire explosion, Peter didn’t flinch.

He didn’t make a sound.

His body remained entirely steady, a solid, unmoving anchor in front of Gwen.

As the smoke cleared and the ringing in everyone’s ears faded, the room descended into stunned silence.

Flash was whimpering under a table.

Mr.

Harrison was coughing through the fumes.Gwen slowly opened her eyes.

She was gaze at Peter standing in front of her.

Because he was standing straight, she could feel the absolute solidity of his frame.

She looked up with her heart hammering wildly against her ribs, expecting to see a terrified crying boy.

Instead, she looked directly into Peter’s face.

His glasses were completely straight.

His hazel eyes were perfectly clear, steady and gazing down at her with a profound comforting maturity that completely bypassed any high school facade.

“Are you hurt, Gwen?” Peter asked.

His voice wasn’t shaky but a warm blanket in the middle of a storm.

“I…

I’m fine,” Gwen breathed, her voice barely a whisper.

She couldn’t take her eyes off his.

The sheer, unshakeable confidence radiating from him in a moment of pure terror was the most intoxicating thing she had ever experienced.

Peter had casually stepped into the line of fire to be her shield and he looked like he hadn’t even broken a sweat.

“Good” Peter smiled gently.

He casually plucked the jagged glass shard out of his textbook, tossing it onto the table with a light clink.

Then knocked his own glasses slightly crooked and let out a nervous, high pitched chuckle.

“Wow!

Talk about a chemical reaction, right?

Boy, my heart is going a hundred mile a minute!”.

He rubbed the back of his neck, perfectly mimic a clumsy dork who had just gotten lucky.

The illusion was completely shattered for Gwen Stacy.

She stood by the lab desk, her face flushing a deep radiant crimson as she watched him walk away.

Peter Parker wasn’t a weak nerd but a person that is willing to try protect someone.

The Midtown High cafeteria was a wall of sound with the clatter of plastic trays, the screech of metal stools and the roar of three hundred teenagers letting off steam.

In a corner booth, completely insulated from the social hierarchy of the room was Peter, Ned Leeds and Harry Osborn were locked in a deeply intense debate.

“I’m telling you, the logistics of the Death Star supply chain make absolutely no economic sense” Peter said gesturing with a plastic fork.

“The raw material procurement alone would collapse the banking systems of three core systems.

It’s a systemic failure of governance”.

Ned blinked, holding a half-eaten slice of square cafeteria pizza.

“Bro, it’s a giant space laser.

You don’t calculate the supply chain of a super weapon, you just marvel at the kyber crystal output”.

“Actually, Pete has a point” Harry chimed in, leaning back and nursing a high-end cold brew he’d sneaked into the school.

As the heir to Oscorp, he understood corporate overreach.

“If my dad tried to build something that size without a reliable titanium futures market, the board would fire him by Q2”.

“Thank you, Harry,” Peter said, taking a bite of an apple.”Finally, someone understands resource allocation”.

SLAM….

The entire booth shuddered as a massive calloused hand slammed down onto the center of their laminate table, rattling Ned’s juice box.

Flash Thompson leaned over the table, his varsity jacket smelling strongly of cheap body spray and locker-room sweat.

His jaw was clenched, his neck veins bulging, and his chest was puffed out to maximum capacity.

Behind Flash, a couple of his football lackeys stood crossing their arms, trying to look intimidating.

“Hey, Dickwad,” Flash snarled his voice dropping into a low, aggressive growl that caught the attention of the surrounding tables.

The immediate area fell into a quiet, expectant hush.

Peter didn’t jump.

He didn’t even drop his apple.

He slowly blinked, turning his head to look up at Flash with a look of absolute, unbothered exhaustion.

To Peter’s adult mind this wasn’t a terrifying bully but just a loud, insecure teenager throwing a tantrum.

“Hello, Flash” Peter said completely relaxed and entirely lacking the shaky terror Flash was expecting.

“We’re actually in the mid discussion.

Did you need help with your homework or are you just testing the structural integrity of our table?”.

Ned choked on his pizza.

Harry raised an eyebrow, highly amused.

Flash’s face turned an angry shade of brick red.

He leaned in closer, his eyes narrowing into a threatening glare.

“Listen to me, Parker.

I saw you talking to Liz by the lockers”.

He reached out, grabbing the collar of Peter’s oversized faded flannel shirt, bunching the fabric in his fist.

“Let’s get one thing straight, you pathetic little nerd.

Liz is my girl.

You stay the hell away from her.

You don’t look at her, you don’t talk to her and you don’t even breathe the same air in the hallway.

If I catch you within five feet of her again, I am going to break you into so many pieces your aunt won’t even be able to identify the scraps.

Do you understand me?”.

The threat was explicit, violent and meant to completely humiliate Peter in front of the entire cafeteria but Peter didn’t shrink.

He didn’t beg.

Instead, he let his body go entirely limp against Flash’s grip while maintaining his ‘weak nerd’ persona while looking straight into Flash’s eyes.

Up close, Flash was confronted with Peter’s calm gaze.

Peter said “Flash.

First of all, Liz will think you are pathetic for threatening a guy just for her”.

Flash blinked completely derailed by Peter’s calm demeanor “What did you say to me?”.

“I said, you’re projecting your own relationship insecurities” Peter smiled gently and tap Flash’s bunched fist with a single non-threatening finger.

“Go take a deep breath, Flash.

Eat some protein.

The aggressive alpha routine doesn’t work when everyone can see how scared you are of losing your girlfriend” Peter continued causing Flash to step back and his hands dropping to his sides.

He wanted to throw a punch but confidence radiating from Peter blew him off.

He couldn’t explain it but standing next to Parker suddenly felt like standing next to a live wire.”You…

you’re dead, Parker” Flash said with his tough-guy voice cracking slightly as he backed away, trying to save face in front of his lackeys.

”

Just…

watch your back” Flash said before turning and marching away, his boots clicking loudly against the tile as he aggressively retreated toward the exit.

The cafeteria slowly returned to its loud chatter, though several tables were still whispering and staring at Peter.

Ned leaned across the table, his eyes the size of flying saucers.

“Dude…

Peter…

what was that?!

You just completely Jedi mind-tricked Flash Thompson!”.

Harry chuckled taking a slow sip of his cold brew, his eyes locked on Peter with newfound respect.

“I’ve gotta admit, Pete…

that was the most brutal, elegant takedown of an athlete I’ve ever seen.

You didn’t even stand up”.

“Just basic risk mitigation” Peter shrugged, slouching back down into his seat and messing up his hair to look messy again.

He took another casual bite of his apple.

“Now, back to the Death Star.

If we assume the Empire outsourced the construction to private corporate entities in the Outer Rim…”.

As Peter rambled on, he didn’t notice that two tables away, Liz Allan and Gwen Stacy were both staring at him, completely captivated by how a entirely average guy casually make the biggest bully in school back off with words.

The next day in Midtown High hallway, Peter was fixing his locker while deliberately maintaining his nerdy persona.

When suddenly, a cloud of expensive floral perfume enveloped him and the locker door right next to his head was gently nudged shut.

Peter turned his head to find Liz leaning against the metal vents.

Her cheerleading jacket was slung over one shoulder and she was looking down at him with a mixture of intense curiosity and a nervous, uncharacteristic flush on her cheeks.

“Hey, Peter” Liz said, her voice dropping into a soft, private register that instantly made the surrounding sophomore boys stare in absolute jealousy.

“Oh!

Hey, Liz” Peter answered while maintaining his attention on his locker.

She stepped closer, locking her eyes onto his.

“Forget the locker, Peter.

I wanted to talk to you about what happened in the cafeteria yesterday with Flash”.

“Right…” Peter said stepping back to maintain their distance.

“Peter, stop” Liz interrupted gently, placing a manicured hand over his bunched flannel sleeve.

Peter froze in confusion.

“Look…

Flash and I are done.

Officially” Liz whispered with her eyes searching his face, completely captivated.

“So..” Peter answered calmly uninterested.

Liz swallowed hard, her usual confidence completely evaporating.

“He’s a meathead.

And I realized I’ve been paying attention to the wrong kind of guy”.

Peter’s internal alarm and not his spider sense rang.

‘Shit!!!!

No, no, no.

Evacuate the sector!’.

“The science museum is doing a late-night exhibition this Friday” Liz said with her face turning a bright, beautiful shade of crimson as she forced the words out.

“I know you like that stuff.

And…

I was wondering if maybe you’d want to go with me?

Like…

a date?”.

Peter stared at her.

He was an adult trapped in a teenager’s life and he was currently being asked out by one of the prettiest girl.

“A-A date?” Peter said in confusion as his brain rapidly calculating how to decline without causing an emotional teenage girl meltdown that would disrupt his life.

“Wow, Liz.

That’s…

incredible.

But I…

I have a strict, non-negotiable familial obligation this Friday night.

It’s my aunt family dinner.”

Liz blinked, utterly stunned by Peter’s rejection.

Peter closed his locker and grabbed his backpack, he said “Anyway, gotta go!

Sorry, Liz but Pre-calculus waits for no man!” as he walked away leaving a completely bewildered Liz standing alone by the lockers.

Later in one of the empty classroom, an entirely different kind of tension was brewing.

Gwen Stacy slammed a heavy textbook onto the table, her blue eyes flashing with a cold annoyance.

Across from her sat Mary Jane Watson, who was casually painting her nails with a clear topcoat, looking thoroughly amused by her friend’s uncharacteristic meltdown.

“She asked him out, MJ.

Right there in the middle of the hall.

I saw her hand on his sleeve” Gwen hissed, pacing back and forth in the narrow aisle.

“It is infuriating!”.

“Whoa, easy there, Einstein,” Mary Jane chuckled, blowing on her nails.

“Since when do you care about who Liz Allan targets?

Usually, you look at the football drama like it’s a low-grade reality show”.

Gwen gripped the edge of the table, her jaw tight stuttered “I…..

I don’t.

It ….

I am just worried for Peter.

Liz is just tired of her boyfriend caveman routine!

She doesn’t actually see Peter.

She just sees a new shiny object to validate her social standing!

She is trouble waiting to happen.

Peter does not need all this…..

distraction”.

Mary Jane slowly stopped blowing on her nails.

She looked at Gwen, a knowing, wicked smirk spreading across her face.

“Oh.

Wow.

You’ve got it bad, Stacy”.

“Got what bad?!” Gwen snapped, her face instantly matching the red of MJ’s hair.

Gwen stammered “I am …

Just…

Yes, a concern party!”.

“Uh-huh” MJ leaned back, crossing her legs.

“A logical observation that involves you wanting to strangle the cheerleader for looking at Peter.

Look Gwen, Liz moved first…

If you like him maybe you should stop just observing him and start acting like a girl who wants the guy”.

Gwen stared at MJ, her heart hammering against her ribs as she realized her friend was right.

It was undeniably she was protective of him and she wasn’t about to let Liz Allan take Peter away first.

“Let the best girl win…” MJ said while waving her hand.

Far from the high school hallway where teenage girls were fighting for Peter’s attention, gradual darkness of the approaching danger continue across New York as Kingpin aka Wilson Fisk continue to engineer his grand plan.
