The rain continued to fall.

A few raindrops landed on Yu Suisui’s face, and her consciousness gradually returned.

The physique of a cultivator was indeed better than that of an ordinary person. Even though she had just fainted from the cold, she felt almost fine after recovering for a while.Full novel: Transmigrated into the Villain’s Short-lived White Moonlight — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wiping the rainwater from her face, she pondered how to ask the bridge guards to save Xie Rongjing as well.

This major villain had too many issues. If possible, she would have gladly chosen a different mission target. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option—she had to make do and complete the task as it was.

“Um…”

She had barely started speaking when she swallowed the rest of her words.

By now, she had mostly recovered, and her mind was clearer. Yu Suisui stared at the black robe soaked by the rain beside her face—it looked all too familiar.

…

How strange. She took another look.

Yu Suisui lifted her gaze in disbelief and saw the pale jawline of the major villain.

It had to be said, Xie Rongjing’s appearance was quite deceptive—a tall nose, thin lips, and a few droplets of water clinging to the tips of his long lashes, making his eyes as clear as ice and snow.

His embrace was cold, and the hand holding her had distinct, well-defined knuckles.

The moisture diluted the faint, eerie aura around him, adding a touch of fragility to his presence. He didn’t seem like a major villain at all.

“The rain is about to stop, Young Lady,” Xie Rongjing said slowly, his voice cool yet soft at the end, like candy dipped in snow.

Even though his wounds were still bleeding, his steps were steady. Yu Suisui was surprised. “Is your leg alright now?”

“It’s fine,” Xie Rongjing replied with a gentle smile, completely devoid of the faint weariness of the world he had shown when they first met the night before.

Yu Suisui breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed her guess was correct—the vitality of a final boss like him was truly tenacious.

Feeling reassured, she adjusted to a more comfortable position and nestled deeper into Xie Rongjing’s embrace.

Even if he would become a major villain in the future, even if he had already killed someone… so far, his interactions with her had remained within a relatively normal range, so there was no need for her to be overly tense.

It wasn’t that she had completely let her guard down, but there was no use in being constantly on edge. Yu Suisui didn’t have many other strengths, but her mindset was top-notch. She even had the leisure to think: once she completed her mission in this world, she would definitely post this experience on the Transmigration Bureau’s forum.

Xie Rongjing was a well-known figure on the forum, always portrayed as a murderous, lawless maniac. If Yu Suisui were to say he had saved her, the replies would instantly hit 99+… Well, maybe not that many, since everyone would probably think she was making up a story.

As she was lost in thought, a hand gently touched her forehead.

“Are you feeling unwell? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Xie Rongjing’s dark pupils reflected her drenched, miserable self, and the expression on his face seemed to be… concern?

Yu Suisui was stunned.

She had thought it was already an unexpected surprise that he had picked her up from the Moonfrost Bridge. How could there be additional post-rescue concern? This was really not villain-like behavior at all.

Xie Rongjing’s fingertips trailed from her forehead down to her chin. “If you’re uncomfortable, tell me.”

Yu Suisui immediately shook her head like a rattle-drum.

Alert.jpg.

If she weren’t certain that only one transmigrator could exist in a world at a time, she would have almost suspected Xie Rongjing was possessed.

The man whom everyone saw as utterly wicked, the major villain, was now fussing over her well-being, as if he regarded her with special favor. The mission was progressing so smoothly—by all logic, she should have been delighted.

Yu Suisui was not happy; alarm bells were ringing in her heart.

Whether it was the information obtained from the Transmigration Bureau or the inherent knowledge from the world’s plot, Xie Rongjing in the records was no benevolent person. To be precise, he was a Demon—just as tigers are born to eat meat, Demons are inherently devoid of humanity.

Even if she were to stretch the imagination and assume he wasn’t yet an irredeemable villain, he certainly had nothing to do with gentleness or consideration.

Article One of the Transmigator’s Code: Never overestimate yourself.

During her studies at the Transmigration Bureau, Yu Suisui’s grades weren’t the best, but she wasn’t a fool either—she understood basic principles.

She had heard of transmigrators who thought themselves superior to the natives, believing they could manipulate the people of the book’s world effortlessly, only to meet tragic ends.

This was indeed a small world within a book, but the people here were flesh and blood. And she, Yu Suisui, had only just met her mission target a day ago—what reason did she have to expect special treatment from him? She wasn’t some novel’s female lead with a cheat-like protagonist halo.

And now, Xie Rongjing seemed to hold a high favorability toward her… In reality, this was highly abnormal.

The rain had truly begun to subside.

Thick, heavy clouds loomed in the sky, making Xie Rongjing’s face appear even more pallid, carrying a decadent, sickly aura—like the beautiful male ghost in those domestic horror films.

His wounds were still seeping blood. Glancing back, she saw scattered red droplets along the path they had taken, starkly visible on the snow-white Yue Ning Bridge, like fallen plum blossoms in the snow.

This wasn’t a big deal either. The eternal extreme ice remained unstained by dust; in less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, these traces would vanish completely—as if no one had bled here, and no one had nearly died upon it.

It would remain the sacred Yue Ning Bridge.

Not far ahead, stone steps and flowers peeked intermittently through the mist.

They were finally arriving. Yu Suisui breathed a sigh of relief.

She decided to find a Medical Cultivator or someone to treat Xie Rongjing—preferably to fix his brain too.

But… Yu Suisui blinked. Why did the scenery by the bridge seem to have changed?

“North Peak has arrived, Miss,” Xie Rongjing spoke up with a timely smile.

“Or does the young lady wish to return to South Peak?”” The great villain was exceedingly polite. “My apologies, I forgot earlier.”

Mhmm, I totally believe you—not.

Yu Suisui mirrored his polite, fake smile. “It’s fine. You can put me down now.”

It seemed she couldn’t avoid personally applying medicine after all. She regretted it a little; had she known there would be so much trouble, she wouldn’t have slacked off yesterday.

As for why Xie Rongjing treated her this way, she had given up thinking about it.

She wondered how the experienced seniors at the Transmigration Bureau would handle such a situation?—Who knew how they’d deal with it? She’d never seen anyone post about transmigrating as Xie Rongjing’s white moonlight.

Since she didn’t know, she wouldn’t bother handling it.

As the saying goes: The cart will find its way round the hill when it gets there.

What Xie Rongjing was thinking had nothing to do with her—she wasn’t here to date him, so why care about his thoughts? She just needed to diligently complete her mission and become the white moonlight.

A white moonlight wasn’t a mind-reader; keeping some distance from the mission target might even help leave a more beautiful memory.

Yu Suisui remembered: her current persona was that of a kind, righteous little white flower.

“Since we’ve come this far, let me escort you back.” She recalled the lines a delicate white lotus character would say, appropriately showing a trace of concern: “Your injuries haven’t healed yet, it would be unfortunate if something else happened…”

“Thank you, Young Miss.” Xie Rong Jing raised an eyebrow in acknowledgment.

No need to thank me, Yu Sui Sui thought. If you want to thank someone, thank the strict acting teacher from the Transmigration Bureau. Our entire class scored “B+” or above—it was my highest graded subject among all transmigration courses.

Now there was only one last problem—her current appearance wasn’t ideal. Wandering outside in wet clothes looked rather unappealing. Fortunately, it was March and she was wearing multiple layers—it would have been even more awkward in summer.

As this thought crossed her mind, she suddenly noticed her thoroughly drenched garments gradually becoming dry. Even her soft boots were restored to pristine condition within a few breaths.

Is the Cultivation World this advanced? Yu Sui Sui was mildly astonished.

A glance at the great villain beside her, still in his wet clothes, made her realize this was a privilege reserved for the young miss.

Beyond the bridge lay a narrow mountain path.

She noticed: Xie Rong Jing’s leg hadn’t actually healed. He had merely frozen it with the icy chill of the Moonfrost Bridge to maintain stability. Now that the ice had melted, he had reverted to his previous state.

Having just rained, the path was steep and slippery. To avoid further complications, Yu Sui Sui had to extend a hand to prevent him from falling.

At the path’s end stretched a vast flower field—though in name only, as it contained few actual flowers. Primarily cultivated were Spirit rice for daily consumption and common Spirit herbs, all tended by Outer Sect Disciples.

“Xie Rong Jing?” A rough male voice called from ahead: “How are you still alive?”

The greeting was decidedly impolite, yet Xie Rong Jing showed no anger. Instead, he politely smiled at the speaker: “Indeed, I am.”

“…”

The man’s face took on a horrified expression, his cheeks twitching twice before he uneasily closed his mouth.

“What are you afraid of him for? Didn’t you hear what the Law Enforcement Hall officials said yesterday? This little bastard’s Meridians have all been severed.” A woman carrying a bamboo basket shrilly declared, hurling her basket at Xie Rong Jing: “Get out of Tian Zhao Sect!”

Like a stone creating countless ripples, a crowd rose from the fields in the next moment, shouting in unison: “Get out of Tian Zhao Sect!”

These people wore blue-black Outer Sect Disciple robes identical to Xie Rong Jing’s. They ranged from elderly with silver hair to youngsters barely twelve or thirteen, all uniformly stopping their work to glare furiously at Xie Rong Jing.

If looks could kill, Xie Rong Jing would have been sliced to pieces a thousand times over.

Yet the man himself acted as if nothing was wrong, crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes with an exceedingly polite smile that successfully ignited greater fury among the disciples.

…

Judging by this situation, she had work to do again.

Yu Sui Sui silently glanced at her mission target.

Thank you for making both days since my transmigration so eventful.
