With a loud thud, Sheng Xia pushed Gu Cheng’an away. She had been sleeping right on the edge of the bed to avoid any suspicion. Though she managed to shove him aside, she forgot she was sleeping so close to the edge and didn’t control her strength properly, causing her to roll right off the bed and onto the floor.

Her body ached slightly, and she grimaced in pain. From the bed, Gu Cheng’an asked in a sinister tone, “What are you doing if you’re not sleeping?”

What the hell do you think I’m doing? Sheng Xia was seething with anger. “This bed is a bit small. It’s a little cramped for two people. I’ll go sleep outside.”Full novel: Transmigrating into a Book, I Refuse to Be the Rich Young Master’s Wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The person who used to cling to him at every opportunity was now keeping a clear distance, sleeping right on the edge of the bed. Not only that, but she had pushed him away so disdainfully when he moved closer that she ended up rolling off the bed. Gu Cheng’an, the proud son of heaven, had never been so blatantly rejected before.

His voice was icy. “How about I have someone bring in a five-meter-wide bed tomorrow?”

This was clearly not a friendly suggestion. Sheng Xia didn’t have the nerve to retort, so she swallowed her anger and climbed back onto the bed.

She continued to press herself tightly against the edge. Seeing her like this, Gu Cheng’an was so furious he felt his lungs might explode. He let out a cold laugh, got up, put on his jacket, and strode out of the room.

A heavy slam of the door echoed from outside, making Sheng Xia’s heart skip a beat.

What’s with all this anger?

Gu Cheng’an’s outburst caused quite a stir. Soon, Gu Tingting’s shrill voice could be heard from outside: “Brother, where are you going? Did that shameless Sheng Xia try to seduce you again?”

“Look how angry my brother is! Mom, that woman Sheng Xia is truly shameless!”

Gu Cheng’an left and didn’t return to the bedroom. Sheng Xia guessed he had gone to a guest room. While she felt relieved, she also felt troubled. What kind of mess was this?

No, she had to find the female lead, Shen Xinhe, and bring her together with Gu Cheng’an as soon as possible. Once those two sparked something, she could get a hefty alimony and make her exit gracefully.

Sheng Xia gave up on sleeping and got up, grabbing her phone to search for Shen Xinhe. She only vaguely remembered some details from the book.

The book mainly focused on how she became consumed with jealousy after learning that Gu Cheng’an liked Shen Xinhe, leading her to cause trouble and harm the female lead. As for how Shen Xinhe and Gu Cheng’an met and fell in love, Sheng Xia had no idea.

However, one thing Sheng Xia remembered clearly: Shen Xinhe was a very famous celebrity.

If that was the case, then it should be easy to find her. Sheng Xia typed “Shen Xinhe” into the search bar, but unfortunately, she couldn’t find any celebrity by that name in the entertainment industry.

So, where was the female lead, Shen Xinhe, right now?

Could it be that she was a dark horse who would later emerge in the film and television industry?

It seemed that to find Shen Xinhe, she would have to start with the film and television circle. Su Yanqi’s company was the largest film and television company in Jingnan, so she would inevitably have to go through him to get insider information on Shen Xinhe.

Searching for the female lead at night had disrupted her sleep, and Sheng Xia overslept the next morning.

She was startled awake by a call from Su Qiao. “Xia Xia, I’m coming to pick you up so we can go ask my brother about the filming!”

Sheng Xia had no interest in acting, but since she needed to gather information about Shen Xinhe, asking Su Yanqi was the best approach. She immediately got up and washed up.

Downstairs, Gu Tingting was on the phone on the sofa. When she saw Sheng Xia coming down, she rolled her eyes and raised her voice: “Xiaoxiao, it’s great that you’re back! Let’s have lunch together. We’ll find my brother and make him treat us.”

Sheng Xia walked past Gu Tingting expressionlessly and headed out the door. Behind her, Gu Tingting’s voice rose to a shrill pitch.”That shameless cuckoo who stole the nest was flirting with my brother again last night. My brother doesn’t like her at all and was so angry he slept in the guest room…”

Sheng Xia held her forehead, too furious to speak.

Su Qiao’s car arrived at the entrance. As Sheng Xia got in, Su Qiao handed her a box of warm milk.

While Sheng Xia drank the milk, Su Qiao started the car. “Xia Xia, Lu Xiaoxiao is back!”

“Hmm?” Sheng Xia made a questioning sound, her eyes curious.

“Lu Xiaoxiao left the country in anger back then because you married Gu Cheng’an. She returned yesterday, reportedly with the Shen family’s young master, Shen Jingze. Do you know Shen Jingze?”

Sheng Xia shook her head. Su Qiao sighed, “I knew you wouldn’t pay attention to any man besides Gu Cheng’an.”

“I pay attention to Brother Yanqi,” Sheng Xia retorted.

“That’s only because my brother is always around you! It was agreed you’d marry into our family, but you changed your mind the moment you saw Gu Cheng’an.”

“Qiaoqiao, I’ve always seen Brother Yanqi as my own brother!”

“Alright, I know. That’s why it’s so frustrating! My brother isn’t any worse than that Gu guy. Anyway, about Lu Xiaoxiao—she was added to the group chat. Just now, that shameless Gu Tingting said Gu Cheng’an invited Lu Xiaoxiao to dinner today.”

“Hmm.” Sheng Xia responded indifferently. In the past, hearing Lu Xiaoxiao’s name would have made her furious, but now she felt nothing toward this so-called rival.

She no longer dared to want Gu Cheng’an. Whether he had dinner with Lu Xiaoxiao or even slept with her, Sheng Xia didn’t care. Her main goal now was to find the female lead, Shen Xinhe.

The two arrived at Su Yanqi’s company and went straight to his office to find him.

Su Yanqi was speaking with his assistant, Xu Zhou, when Sheng Xia and Su Qiao entered. He smiled and gestured for them to sit. “You came at the perfect time. I had a few scripts sent over. Xia Xia, pick one and see which role you like. We’ll arrange it right away.”

Sheng Xia refused, “No need, Brother Yanqi. I’m not cut out for acting.”

“Such a great opportunity shouldn’t be wasted. We need money, don’t we? Hurry and look through the scripts. Find one where a top actor can help you become an overnight sensation,” Su Qiao chimed in.

“I’m really not leading lady material. I’d be better off as an extra or background character—like playing the piano, singing, or acting as a passerby.”

“That won’t do. That would be too unfair to you!” Su Qiao was the first to object.

Su Yanqi also smiled, “Why be polite with me? As long as you’re willing, I can definitely make you a hot star.”

“I don’t want to be a star, Brother Yanqi. Can I ask you for a favor? I’m looking for someone. Her name is Shen Xinhe, and she’s also in the entertainment industry, probably not very famous yet. Do you know someone like that?”

Su Yanqi shook his head. Seeing Sheng Xia’s disappointed expression, he quickly added, “I’ll have Xu Zhou look into it and let you know as soon as we find anything.”

At the headquarters of Xincheng International, Gu Cheng’an left the conference room with clear exhaustion on his face.

After leaving the bedroom last night, he went to the study. Gu Tingting followed him in and showed him the messages Sheng Xia had sent in the group chat:

“I know you all have your eyes on Gu Cheng’an. Let’s be frank: if anyone can give me two billion, I’ll divorce him immediately! Which of you wealthy ladies can do it? Not only will I divorce him gladly, but I’ll also find a way for you to have a night with Gu Cheng’an!”

Seeing Sheng Xia’s arrogant words in the group chat, Gu Cheng’an’s anger refused to subside. He had been working in the study until the early hours of the morning without rest before coming to the company.

The morning meeting felt like a battlefield, with no one escaping criticism.

After leaving the conference room and returning to his office, Jing Ci brought a cup of coffee for Gu Cheng’an.

Gu Cheng’an had just taken a small sip of the coffee when the door was pushed open.

Gu Tingting walked in with a bright smile. “Brother, look who I brought to see you!”

As she spoke, she stepped aside, and a graceful, elegant beauty walked in behind her. Gu Cheng’an looked up at Lu Xiaoxiao.

His expression showed no fluctuation, and his tone was indifferent. “When did you come back?”

“Xiaoxiao arrived yesterday morning! Brother, you really don’t pay attention to her news at all, do you? You have to treat us to a meal today! The best feast!”

Gu Cheng’an’s expression remained just as cold. “No problem. I’ll have Jing Ci arrange it for you. What would you like to eat?”

What Gu Cheng’an meant was having Jing Ci arrange the meal, not that he would accompany them to eat. The difference between the two was significant.

A flicker of disappointment flashed in Lu Xiaoxiao’s eyes, while Gu Tingting pouted. “Why won’t you come with us?”

Gu Cheng’an didn’t answer, lowering his head to drink his coffee. Then, Gu Tingting added, “I just saw Su Yanqi on my way here. Sheng Xia was in his car, and I don’t know where they’re off to again.”

Gu Cheng’an’s eyes darkened. He grabbed his coat and stood up. “Didn’t you want to eat? Let’s go.”
