Su Hua sat leisurely under the corridor, a cold gleam flashing in her eyes as she fixed her gaze on the scolding old woman in the courtyard.
Granny Sun froze as she saw Su Hua, as if she had seen a ghost.
Hadn’t the doctor said this little wretch was on her deathbed, barely clinging to life, with no more than three days left? Why did she look perfectly fine now?
Especially when their eyes met, Granny Sun felt an involuntary chill run through her, a creeping unease.
Hmph. A young lady who had been unloved and neglected, living worse than the servants, and who had been under her thumb for years—could she really now slip out of her grasp?
Granny Sun stormed forward, her anger flaring, not even sparing Su Hua a glance. With arrogance, she said, “Is there still someone breathing in this courtyard? Why didn’t you answer me just now—dumb, are you?”
Su Hua glanced at Granny Xia and Yun Shuang standing beside her. Before Granny Sun, the two could barely lift their heads, clearly used to being bullied.
After the original lady’s mother passed away, life had been tolerable for a couple of years.
But when Madam Zhu rose to become the matriarch of the Xiang residence, the young lady’s nightmare began.
Now, Madame Zhu was completely unrestrained.
To prevent her from holding the position of the legitimate eldest daughter, she even sought to take her life.
The original lady had been powerless, trapped in the deep residence, unable to resist—but Su Hua was different.
Since this matter was going to happen, it would happen thoroughly.
Su Hua let out a cold snort, her icy eyes locking onto Granny Sun. In a tone as frigid as ice, she said, “Who do you think you are, daring to shout in my courtyard?”
Granny Xia and Yun Shuang were stunned.
Their mistress had clearly changed a lot through this ordeal.
But Granny Sun was backed by Madam Zhu, the current matriarch of the Xiang residence.
“Miss?” Granny Sun sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “You little wretch, really think you’re some prized dish, huh? Dare to shout in front of me? If you fell into the lotus pond, and didn’t drown, you must have water in your brain. You little brat, you dare sit there while I talk? Come over here!”
Seeing that Su Hua remained unmoved, Granny Sun signaled the two women following her. “Grab her! Beat this little brat!”
Granny Xia and Yun Shuang immediately stepped forward to block them.
“What do you think you’re doing to our young lady!” Granny Xia’s voice trembled as she shouted.
The two women laughed arrogantly. “Young lady? Is there a young lady here?”
One sneered coldly, “I don’t see any. In the Xiang residence, which young lady isn’t dressed lavishly, elegant in bearing, and unmatched in beauty? And her? Dressed worse than us, yet dares call herself the Xiang residence’s young lady—what a joke.”
Granny Sun frowned. “Stop wasting words. Attack!”
At her command, the two women rolled up their sleeves and moved in.
Strong and sturdy, they easily knocked Granny Xia and Yun Shuang to the ground.
Su Hua watched their vicious moves and struck back without hesitation—it was obvious she was used to this.
Granny Xia and Yun Shuang scrambled to rise and shield their mistress, but what happened next left them stunned.
The two women were kicked flying by the young lady, landing on the ground clutching their stomachs, screaming in pain.
Su Hua stood from her seat, walking down the steps of the corridor, glancing at the two curled-up women.
Though the Lingquan Spring had removed her physical weakness, this body’s constitution was still poor. In her past life, a full-strength kick from her would have been fatal or crippling. Now, using just clever leverage, she only caused pain.
Granny Sun, seeing the two on the ground and Su Hua advancing toward her like a predatory beast, panicked. She staggered back, thinking, This little brat must be possessed—where did she get such strength?
“I am Madam’s servant, you little wretch! I warn you—if you dare act recklessly, Madam…”
Slap!
A sharp slap landed on Granny Sun’s face.
Su Hua’s movements were fluid. With the same force, she kicked Granny Sun to the ground and stepped on the red mark on her face.
“Full of filth and nonsense—deserved! Madam Zhu was just a concubine promoted, but I am the young lady born to the legitimate first wife. She uses her to oppress me? Not worthy. As for you, a mere dog at Zhu’s side—if I kill you, what can she do?”
Granny Sun was truly terrified. She hadn’t expected Su Hua to survive, let alone be stronger and bolder than ever. In the past, she wouldn’t even dare answer back; now, she truly feared for her life.
“Miss… I…” Granny Sun’s voice shrank, admitting defeat. “Please spare me…”
Su Hua’s eyes brimmed with disdain—a pack of bullies afraid of strength.
“Spare you? Too late!” Su Hua sneered. “I fell into the lotus pond because of Madam Zhu’s plot, and for everything you’ve done to me over the years, you deserve to die.” Her voice lowered to an icy whisper. “Rest assured, I’ll make sure you all reunite with your masters below someday.”
Granny Sun struggled instinctively, but Su Hua’s foot pinned her down. Suddenly, she felt the silver hairpin at her hair being pulled out—it was pressed against her neck, sharp enough to pierce in an instant.
Su Hua didn’t even look. She drew out the hairpin, avoided the spraying blood, casually tossed it aside, and returned to her chair.
Granny Sun clutched her bleeding neck, whimpering, her body stiffening—dead.
The two women who came with her stopped screaming and shrank back, eyes wide in disbelief. Granny Sun had been Madam Zhu’s trusted servant, yet Su Hua had killed her.
Granny Xia and Yun Shuang covered their mouths, shocked.
Su Hua, seeing their thoughts, said calmly, “Don’t worry, I have control.”
A slight smile appeared as she addressed them, “Did that feel satisfying?”
Yun Shuang swallowed, then replied, “Granny Sun always bullied you, Miss. Killing her… it feels very satisfying.”
Granny Xia, long oppressed by Granny Sun, also felt relief, but worried more for their mistress. “Miss, it’s satisfying, yes, but I fear for you. Those people won’t let this go easily.”
Su Hua said, “Then let it be satisfying. From now on, we’ll never endure injustice. Always satisfying. They won’t stop, and neither will I. Those who once bullied us will pay in full!”
Her cold eyes swept over the two crouching women.
Seeing Su Hua’s gaze, they immediately kowtowed. “Miss, spare us! We only followed Granny Sun’s orders.”
Su Hua ignored their pleas. Coldly, she ordered, “Go fetch my father immediately. Oh, and don’t forget to tell Madam Zhu what happened here.”
Relieved, the two women hurried away, no longer caring about their pain, escaping as if for their lives.
