[Mom, is the show tomorrow?]
Yu Siyu handed his notebook to Jin Qiao. She swallowed a bite of bread and nodded.
“Yes, the older kids installed the equipment today. Are you a little nervous?”
[A tiny bit nervous.]
“That’s okay. We’re just recording our day-to-day life. We’ll do whatever we normally do.” She glanced at the crew.
“We’re just living normally tomorrow, right? No scripts?”
The staff nodded in unison as both mother and son stared at them.
“See? Nothing to be nervous about. If there’s anything you want to do tomorrow, you can tell Mom.”
Reassured, Jin Qiao turned back to comfort her slightly nervous son.
Yu Siyu nodded, propping his tiny hands on his cheeks, brows furrowed, deep in thought.
Jin Qiao thought he was adorable and quietly snapped several pictures of him on her phone.
Flipping through the photos, his thoughtful little expression clearly showed Yu An’s genes.
It was uncanny. She finally understood why, in CEO novels, the hero’s friends could instantly recognize a child’s parentage. Genetics can really be this strong.
Lost in the photos, she was suddenly tugged by the sleeve.
[Mom, I’ve decided! Let’s take photos!]
He had noticed Mom taking pictures earlier but pretended not to see. Thinking about it, it had been ages since she and he had taken photos together.
“Photos? Just the two of us?”
Yu Siyu’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.
Jin Qiao thought that sounded fun and felt a surge of excitement.
“Sure! Mom will book the studio now. Let’s go pick one together!”
“Miss Jin, let’s start with a test shoot first.”
She quickly put her phone down and cooperated, picking up Yu Siyu to go to the small temporary studio.
“Let’s have you and Mom introduce yourselves first.”
“Hello, everyone. I’m Jin Qiao, Yu Siyu’s mom.” She smiled naturally at the camera.
[I’m Yu Siyu, Mom’s little treasure!!!]
When Yu Siyu flipped the notebook toward her, Jin Qiao peeked and burst out laughing. So adorable!
The staff couldn’t help but smile as well.
“Because of me, he doesn’t like talking, so he writes things down.”
Jin Qiao felt a pang of guilt, but Yu Siyu held her hand and gave her a big (^_^) smile.
“Yu Siyu’s introduction is very fun,” one staff member said to ease the atmosphere.
“Do you like Dad or Mom more?”
Ah, the classic tricky question, Jin Qiao thought.
Yu Siyu considered carefully and began writing:
[Dad, Mom, Grandpa, Uncle Xiu, Grandma Wu—I like everyone!!]
Uncle Xiu—could that be Yu Shixiu? No wonder Yu Siyu disappeared to the study at the old house that day. He’d gone to be with Yu Shixiu.
“You’re quite the diplomat, Yu Siyu,” some of the female staff couldn’t help laughing.
Yu Siyu grinned.
“Will you be staying out with Mom alone? Are you scared?”
Yu Siyu seemed a bit doubtful. He looked at Jin Qiao, who nodded reassuringly.
[Not scared! I can protect Mom.]
“Wow, you’re Mom’s little brave warrior!” Jin Qiao exclaimed dramatically.
“Then I’ll be counting on you, little one,” she said.
Yu Siyu nodded seriously.
After the test shoot, Jin Qiao and Yu Siyu began picking a suitable photo studio.
Scrolling through options, most showed family portraits.
Yu Siyu jumped off the sofa and wrote something in his notebook:
[Can we bring Dad too?]
Jin Qiao was momentarily stunned.
“Well, we’ll have to ask Dad. If he’s busy, we can’t force it, right?”
Secretly, she hoped Yu An would say no. She wasn’t yet used to being around him.
Yu Siyu’s face fell slightly but quickly figured: he could take photos with Mom alone first and include Dad next time.
..
The next day arrived quickly.
The photography crew arrived with live cameras at the luxurious mansion.
The show’s format focused on mystery: fans and online viewers wouldn’t know the guests until the live broadcast began.
Originally, Jin Qiao’s home stream had few viewers, but once curious netizens saw the mansion’s extravagance, they stopped in their tracks.
[I swear the air smells like money!][Can anyone explain how much this house costs?!][Look at those ornamental trees at the entrance—they’re expensive! Not to mention the garden we just passed, full of pricey flowers!!][Some flowers there are hard to maintain. And this family even has a dedicated gardener!][I just came from the stream—this family is insanely rich!][No way they rented it just to show off.][Yeah, online things can be faked…]
The barrage of comments flew—some estimating prices, some hating on the rich.
Meanwhile, the protagonist Jin Qiao was still in bed, while the little protagonist Yu Siyu was already reading.
Inside the mansion, Wu Ma greeted the crew.
The cameraman spotted Yu Siyu carrying equipment and heading to film.
“Yu Siyu, say hi to the camera!”
Yu Siyu nodded and wrote in his notebook. The cameraman explained:
“Yu Siyu doesn’t like speaking, so he writes things down.”
[This kid is just TOO cute!][He’s so carefully made, like a little deity. I’m crying.][I’ve decided—I want this kid.][No one touch him, he’s mine!]
[Hello everyone! I’m Yu Siyu, five years old.]
He raised the notebook to the camera, cheeks flushed.
[Baby, what color of sack do you like? I’ll order it for you!][I’m willing to wait 15 years for you!][Fifteen years? I’ve been single for 20, I can wait 15!][Is this kid mute? Five years old and can’t talk?][No, the cameraman said he just doesn’t like talking.][Which parent would stop their child from speaking?][Fair point.]
Clearly, Yu Siyu’s looks alone had some viewers glued to the stream.
“Where’s Mom?”
Yu Siyu pointed upstairs and put his hands to his ears.
[Such a good kid, quiet and calm.][I want to go hit my little brother who was screaming in the living room earlier.][Give me this kid, please!][Cute, but a mute… what a shame.]
