Why was he glaring at me?

I couldn’t stop staring at him and how hot he looked in his leather jacket.

Landon was still leaning against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched me.

No.

He wasn’t watching me, he was watching the drink.

I glanced down at the cup in my hand and then back at him.

What was his problem?

“Odessa?” I blinked.

Paxton was standing beside me.

“Are you okay if you don’t want to drink it it’s fine, but you should try it though”

I quickly looked away from Landon.

“I’m fine Paxton .”

Paxton followed my gaze and his expression hardened when he spotted Landon.

“Oh.”

I frowned.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

I looked at him suspiciously.

“Why did you say it like that?”

Before I could say anything else, one of his friends Ian again nudged him.

“Hey, aren’t you going to make her finish that?”

I looked down at the cup.

“Finish what?” I asked.

The guy grinned.

“The drink we dared you to take”

“What dare?”

Paxton immediately looked annoyed and I had a smug expression on my face, I deserved a medal for irritating people.

“Forget it.” He snapped

His friend Jarrett laughed.

“Come on, man.

You challenged her.”

“I didn’t challenge her.”

“You literally said she’d never drink it and Jarret said if you were polite and sweet enough maybe she would” Ian said

I looked at Paxton in horror .

“Did you bet with your friends on if I would accept your drink?”

He opened his mouth and then closed it.

Naomi got up from her seat “What the hell Paxton, you came here acting all friendly just for a dare?”

I narrowed my eyes at him and he scoffed

“It was just a joke chill ladies.” He said

“Just a joke?, how dare you say that” Maya snapped

I scoffed and shook my head.

“You’re unbelievable, I never should have trusted you.”

I turned to leave.

“Wait.” Paxton grabbed my wrist.

I immediately looked down at his hand and he let ne go, i stepped back.

“I don’t want to do this anymore Paxton, leave me alone.”

Ian laughed again.

“Scared new girl?”

I felt irritation crawl up my spine, I hated being called a coward especially when I wasn’t one.

I looked at the drink.

“Fine.” It was just a drink, what was the worse that could happen?

Paxton’s eyes widened.

“New girl”

I raised the cup.

“One sip.”

“That’s all I’m saying.” Ian said

I brought the cup toward my lips and when I was about to drink it a hand suddenly reached out and grabbed the cup from mine.

“Give me that.” A deep husky voice said, I froze and looked up, it was Landon and he was standing right in front of me.

I stared at him.

“What are you doing?”

He didn’t answer, he looked at the cup in his hand and then at Paxton, his expression hardened.

“What the hell is this?”

Paxton’s face changed. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.

“None of your business.”

“I asked you a question.” Landon growled

“It’s nothing.” Paxton said in a bored tone

Landon’s eyes narrowed.

“Then you won’t mind drinking it.”

Paxton went silent.

“Go hide away in a corner, you’re not invited here” Paxton said

Landon walked up to him and he moved backwards a little, like he was as scared of him.

“I never thought you could go lower than you already are” he said

I stared between them.

What was happening?

Landon looked at the cup again and then, without warning, he turned and walked toward the nearest table.

“Landon!” I called after him and followed him

“Hey!” I called out

He stopped suddenly and I almost slammed face first into his back.

He turned around.

“What?”

“Give it back.”

“This drink is drugged Odessa” he said emphasizing the D in my name

“What!!” My eyes widened” How could he do that, he really wanted me to take a spiked drink?”

I turned to glare and curse at Paxton but he was gone, I locked eyes with Naomi who gave me a coy smile , I knew it was because of how close I was standing to Landon so I ignored her.

Landon chuckled “This isn’t kindergarten pinky, you look after yourself and don’t take drinks from strangers”

I nodded ” Thank you”

Landon picked up another cup and handed it to me.

I stared at it.

“What is this?”

“Drink it.”

“You just said don’t take drinks from strangers” I said

“Your choice pinky”

I looked down and it was a clear drink, I took a cautious sip and my eyes widened.

“That’s soda.”

“Congratulations.” He said and I glared at him.

“You replaced my drink with soda?”

“Yes, no underage drinking.” He drawled

“What!!

I am not underage”

He nodded in a mocking tone and I punched his arm lightly, he only scofffed

“You’re such a jerk.”

“Probably.”

He started walking away.

“Landon!” I called after him

He stopped walking and I hurried after him.

“What?” He said

“I thought you didn’t attend parties”

“Well you thought wrong”

He kept on walking and I should have left him alone.

That would have been the sensible thing to do.

But apparently, I had forgotten how to be sensible.

I followed Landon through the crowd.

“Landon!”

He didn’t stop.

I picked up my pace.

“Hey!”

Still nothing.

I finally caught up with him near the back door and I grabbed his arm and he stopped immediately and his eyes dropped to my hand.

I let him go.

“Why are you ignoring me?” I asked

“Because I’m trying to leave this place.”

“Why?”

He stared at me.

“Because I don’t like parties.”

I glanced around.

“Then why are you here?”

“Same reason you are.”

“I was forced to come here by my friends.”

“Exactly.” Find the original chapter at g.com.

I frowned.

“What does that mean?”

“It means we’re both victims.”

“You don’t look like you have friends” I said and gasped

Why did I say that?

He chuckled “low blow pinky”

He leaned against the wall and I watched his eyes roam over my dress, I had the sudden urge to run away from the intensity of his gaze.

I decided to make a bold move, yes the non alcohol soda was working and making me confident

“Like what you see?” I asked

His eyes flashed with something I guessed was annoyance and he scoffed and moved away from the wall

“Goodnight, Odessa.” He said

He turned to leave and I grabbed his sleeve again .

He looked down at my hand and I quickly released him.

“Wait.” I said

“Why?”

I hesitated.

I didn’t actually know why I’d stopped him, I just didn’t want him to leave yet which was ridiculous, he wasn’t exactly fun company.

He took a step towards me, I instinctively stepped back, then another and he just kept on moving forward till my back was pressed against the wall.

Then he was standing right in front of me, I held my breath because a step forward and his lips would be pressing right on mine.

“Is there any reason you don’t want me to leave?

He said

I cleared my throat.

“Thank you.”

“For what hmmm?” He asked

“For the drink.”

He shrugged.

“Forget it pinky”

“I can’t.”

“Why?”

“Because you did something nice for me .”

His eyebrows lifted.

“I wouldn’t call it nice.”

“Fine.

You did something… not completely horrible.”

“Much Better.”

I rolled my eyes.

“You really don’t know how to accept a compliment.”

“I don’t need one and definitely not from you.”

“Of course you don’t.”

Then suddenly like the idiot I was, I decided to ruin the moment by opening my mouth “Why do you fight?”

The question slipped out before I could stop it.

His entire body went still and my stomach dropped.

I had asked the wrong question.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing.”

“No.” His voice was colder.

“What did you ask me?”

I swallowed.

“Why do you fight?”

His eyes narrowed.

“I told you to stay out of my business Odessa”

I froze “I know im sorry, it just slipped out”

He stared at me and then let go of me and moved backwards.

“I’ll see you in school tomorrow for our session” he said and walked away

Oh my god Odessa, you just had to spoil everything with your mouth.

I let out a frustrated sigh.

“Idiot.”

I almost went after him, but I knew better than that, so I just watched him talk to few guys and walk out the door.

I downed my remaining soda in one go and turned around and started walking back toward my friends.

I had barely taken a few steps when I saw someone standing directly in my path.

It was Paxton and his fake good guy smile was gone now, he was glaring at me.

Oh great

Does this get any worse?
