The moment he returned to Tracen, Luocheng headed straight for the Student Council.

He wanted to know exactly how a Trainer entered into a contract with an Uma Musume.

And naturally, the person most qualified to answer was Student Council President Symboli Rudolf.Full novel: Uma Musume: Trapped in the Game — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

If Seiun Sky was a hidden treasure scattered around Tracen waiting to be discovered, then Rudolf and the Student Council were more like a treasure chest that spawned in the same place every day.

When Luocheng opened the door, he saw the legendary horse girl seated at the center of the room.

Symboli Rudolf.

Silky brown-gold hair.

A crescent-shaped white streak similar to Teio’s.

Brilliant violet eyes radiating natural authority.

As one of the greatest racing legends in history, Rudolf carried tremendous presence.

The first time Luocheng had seen her, he had been genuinely intimidated.

Months later, familiarity had thoroughly weakened that effect.

“Good evening, President Rudolf.”

Rudolf looked up.

A gentle smile, surprisingly warm compared with her stern public image, appeared on her face.

She invited him to sit and poured tea.

“What brings you here so late, Trainer Luocheng?”

“I wanted to ask something.”

Luocheng took a sip.

“If I want to sign an Uma Musume, what exactly do I need to do?

Do we just sign a form and give it to the Chairwoman?”

“Didn’t you already sign with Teio?”

That came automatically with my starting character.

Of course, Luocheng couldn’t say that.

“I was wondering whether the process might differ for a second trainee.”

“It’s basically the same.

Both sides sign, the paperwork comes to us, and then we coordinate with the instructors to transfer training responsibility.”

Rudolf continued:

“If there’s a student you’re interested in, bring the signed form to me and I can handle the rest.”

“I see.”

Luocheng nodded.

“Then what if I want to sign an Uma Musume who already has a Trainer?”

Rudolf paused.

“Who?”

“You.”

Luocheng answered without hesitation.

“What if I want you?”

Rudolf raised an eyebrow.

After a brief moment of surprise, she smiled with genuine amusement.

“In that case, both the Trainer and Uma Musume would have to agree to a transfer.

But Trainer Luocheng, I’d recommend waiting.”

“My current Trainer is retiring next year.

I’m his final trainee, and I intend to see him through to the end.”

“I see.”

“Once he retires, I can transfer my training rights to you.

Though even if I do, I’ve already moved into the Dream Trophy League.

Training me won’t help your current racing program.”

“That’s fine.”

Luocheng smiled.

“I mainly want you.”

The Rudolf from the game world.

The Rudolf in front of him now.

He wanted both.

And having Rudolf on his side effectively meant having the Student Council behind him.

Even without his game-world privileges, that would make many things easier.

“I’ll inform you next July,” Rudolf said.

That easy?

Luocheng became even more convinced that Affection was affecting reality.

He couldn’t remember Rudolf’s exact last value.

Seventy-something.

Close to eighty.

With his question answered, Luocheng left the Student Council.

Tomorrow, he planned to sign another horse girl and see what changed.

After he departed, Rudolf remained seated.

Her gaze drifted toward the teacup Luocheng had used.

She hesitated.

Then carefully lifted it.

At that exact moment, Tokai Teio barged into the room.

“President!”

Rudolf immediately put the cup back down.

Teio sat beside her and launched excitedly into a detailed account of her day outside with Luocheng.

Rudolf listened patiently while stroking her head.

Outside, night had fallen.

Students were returning to their dormitories.

And Luocheng faced the familiar question of how to spend the evening.

Eventually, he noticed a dark silhouette in the distance.

A soft sigh drifted through the night air.

When the girl entered the light, Luocheng recognized her.

Extremely pale skin.

Golden eyes glowing faintly in the darkness.

Long black hair falling like the night itself.

Manhattan Cafe.

Another horse girl whose Affection he had maxed out.

Unlike the convenient accessibility of Akikawa or Tazuna, Cafe had reached that level simply because Luocheng genuinely liked being around her.

“Trainer Luocheng…

this is the Trainers’ dormitory, isn’t it?”

Cafe looked around.

“Why did you bring me here?”

“To keep me company.”

“Keep you…

company?”

“If you’d rather not, we can just talk.

How about that, Cafe?

Tell me something.

I’m not quite myself today.”

Cafe studied him.

“…Trainer, the night is beautiful.

Why don’t we take a walk outside?

I actually wanted to talk to you too.”

In the game world, Manhattan Cafe had always seemed calm and doll-like.

Luocheng had treated her as a beautiful, familiar presence.

But now—

all she had done was smile.

And Luocheng found himself staring.
