Luocheng ate breakfast.

The toast was crisp and golden—simple, but properly made.

He licked a crumb from his finger and looked across the table at the orange-haired Chairwoman.Full novel: Uma Musume: Trapped in the Game — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yayoi Akikawa.

The highest authority in all of Tracen Academy.

If Symboli Rudolf stood above nearly everyone else, then Akikawa was among the very few people above even Rudolf.

Yet right now, this supreme administrator sat there resting her cheeks in her hands and watching him with almost childlike enthusiasm.

According to the game setting, she was technically his boss.

Luocheng had trouble thinking of her that way.

Back in the game world, he had mostly viewed her as someone who appeared whenever called and therefore made certain routines convenient.

Now, however, he could sense the fully adult personality hidden beneath her youthful appearance.

“Don’t forget your milk.”

She pushed the cup toward him.

Luocheng’s past interactions seemed to have left habits in people’s behavior.

That was something he had noticed before.

In the game world, if a certain interaction happened repeatedly, horse girls could develop conditioned responses.

When Luocheng extended his hand, Tokai Teio would automatically lean into it.

If he sat beside Manhattan Cafe, she might instinctively settle closer.

Their bodies learned.

Their habits accumulated.

That meant the world wasn’t entirely static.

The horse girls changed.

Teio grew stronger.

She ran faster.

Repeated experiences shaped behavior.

The habits Luocheng had created in the game world had apparently followed them here.

“I’m finished.”

Luocheng drained the milk and stood.

“You’re already late,” Akikawa said.

“There’s no need to panic over every second.”

If only his schoolteachers had ever said that.

Unfortunately, he could never return to those days.

Like Teio, the Chairwoman clearly regarded him very favorably.

Otherwise, what boss personally came to an employee’s room, woke him up, and made breakfast?

A real boss would use the simpler and more traditional method of correcting employee behavior:

salary deductions.

So all that effort building the Chairwoman’s Affection had apparently paid off.

Workplace relationships mattered.

“Luocheng.”

Akikawa cupped his face.

“Show some spirit!

Give your work everything you have!

Understood?”

Her tone was powerful and decisive.

“Yes.”

Rather than worrying endlessly about when he might return to the other world, perhaps he should focus on the present.

Whatever happened in the end, at least he could enjoy the process.

“I’m heading out.”

Luocheng left.

Akikawa watched his departing figure.

Only after he was gone did her composed posture soften.

Something about Luocheng had become inexplicably familiar to her.

Being close to him stirred emotions she couldn’t easily explain.

She had the strange sense that she had spent far more time around him than her memories accounted for.

That contradiction troubled her.

…

At the office, Luocheng flipped through the Trainer’s Handbook.

He had absorbed plenty of training knowledge in the game world, but fundamentally he remained an amateur.

Back then, that hadn’t mattered much.

He could see stamina bars.

Physical condition.

Expected stat gains.

He had essentially trained by following game mechanics.

And it had worked.

Now that the UI was gone, he could only rely on memory.

After making a few revisions to Teio’s plan, Luocheng prepared to leave.

He wanted to find Seiun Sky and sign her.

He probably wouldn’t have much trouble convincing her given her Affection level.

Then—

the door opened.

A green-haired figure casually wandered in.

“Yo~ Trainer.”

Seiun Sky smiled.

I was just about to go looking for you, and you walked right in.

How convenient.

“Morning classes are exhausting and boring, so I’m borrowing your room for a nap, Trainer.”

Seiun Sky dropped onto the sofa.

“Skipping class to sleep?

How can you possibly rest peacefully like that?

When I was your age…”

Luocheng paused.

“When I was your age, I also slacked off.”

“So you understand.”

Seiun Sky grinned.

“Humans hate troublesome things.

Seichan hates troublesome things too.

Therefore, Seichan is human.”

“As expected of the Enlightened Emperor.

You’ve discovered a truth I would never have realized in my lifetime.”

“You still have much to learn, Trainer.”

Seiun Sky’s tail swayed.

“Been working all morning?”

“Yeah.”

“Interested in joining Seichan for a little enlightenment?”

Luocheng didn’t bother playing along.

He simply walked over and squeezed onto the narrow sofa beside her.

“W-Wait…

Trainer?”

Seiun Sky’s eyes widened.

She had only been teasing him.

She hadn’t expected him to actually come over.

“Sky.”

“Y-Yes?”

“Will you sign with me?”

Seiun Sky tilted her head.

That was not what she had expected.
