Chapter 13: The Weight of Horns

Veil of Eternal Desire

The afternoon sun filtered through the tavern windows, casting long, warm beams across the polished wooden counter and floor. The Stone Hearth Tavern was in that quiet lull between the midday rush and the evening crowd. A few lingering patrons sat near the hearth, speaking in low voices, but the main focus of the room shifted instantly when Garrick of Eldenford finally descended the stairs.

He shuffled down slowly, each step labored and unsteady. His once broad and powerful shoulders were now hunched and frail. His salt-and-pepper beard was unkempt, and deep lines of exhaustion carved across his weathered face. His eyes, once steady and kind, looked dull and tired, as though the very life had been drained from them. He paused at the bottom of the stairs, gripping the railing for support, before his gaze finally settled on Ronan and Brigid standing close together behind the counter.

“Enough,” Garrick said hoarsely. His voice cracked with weakness and barely contained emotion. “This is my tavern. My wife. You have taken everything, Ronan. I see how you touch her openly now. How the villagers speak of you as the new master. What have you done to me?”

The words hung heavy in the air. A few patrons glanced over with mild curiosity, but most remained unaware of the depth of the drama unfolding before them.

Brigid stood frozen beside Ronan, her sapphire blue eyes filled with a complex swirl of pity, discomfort, and something far more potent. Her voluptuous figure remained pressed close to him, one hand resting lightly but possessively on his strong arm. Even now, in the face of her husband’s confrontation, she could not bring herself to pull away. The hypnotic warmth that constantly flowed through her dulled the sharp sting of guilt, replacing it with a deep, aching loyalty to Ronan. Her full breasts rose and fell quickly beneath her deep blue wool bodice; her nipples subtly hardened from the mere proximity of her saviour. A familiar slick heat gathered between her thighs as she felt the solid strength of Ronan’s body against hers.

Ronan turned slowly, his fiery red hair catching the golden afternoon light. His enhanced athletic frame radiated calm, unshakable authority. A charming yet dangerous smile played on his lips as he regarded the broken man before him. He placed a reassuring hand over Brigid’s where it rested on his arm, gently squeezing her fingers in silent command.

“Garrick, my friend,” Ronan said smoothly, his voice rich and soothing, laced with powerful hypnotic resonance. “You are unwell. Come, let us speak plainly. There is no need for such distress.”

Ronan stepped forward and locked eyes with the trembling man. His presence filled the space between them, tall and commanding. His sharp green eyes burned with hypnotic intensity as his voice dropped into that smooth, resonant tone laced with powerful suggestion.

“Look at me, Garrick,” he commanded softly. “Look deep into my eyes. You feel the weight of your horns pressing down on you. It is heavy, but it also brings a strange, soothing peace. You no longer wish to fight. Fighting brings only pain and exhaustion. Letting go feels so much better.”

Garrick’s gaze glazed over almost immediately. His knees weakened, and he leaned heavily against a nearby table for support. His breathing grew shallow and labored. “I… I am tired,” he muttered, his voice cracking with defeat.

“You are grateful that I have taken these burdens from you,” Ronan continued, his green eyes never wavering. The hypnotic force in his words wrapped around Garrick’s mind like thick, unbreakable chains. “Brigid is happier with me. The tavern thrives under my care. Your only purpose now is to serve quietly in your own home. You will obey me without question. Watching me with your wife brings you calm acceptance. Say it.”

Garrick’s lips moved slowly, repeating the words in a broken, hollow whisper. “I am grateful… I will serve quietly… watching brings calm acceptance.”

Brigid watched the exchange with flushed cheeks. A faint shiver ran through her curvaceous body, but she did not protest. Instead, she pressed closer to Ronan, her full breasts brushing warmly against his side. The sight of her husband’s final surrender sent a twisted thrill through her. Shame flickered briefly in her sapphire eyes, but it was quickly consumed by the deep, addictive heat that always bloomed whenever Ronan exerted his power. Her nipples tightened against the fabric of her bodice, and a fresh wave of slick warmth gathered between her thighs.

“My savior knows what is best,” she murmured softly, her voice thick with devotion as she leaned her head against Ronan’s shoulder.

Ronan placed a firm, controlling hand on Garrick’s shoulder, channeling another strong pulse of hypnotic energy through the contact. “Good. From now on you will be a passive servant in your own home. Clean the rooms, carry the firewood, serve drinks when needed, and stay out of sight unless called upon. You will address me with respect and never question my place beside your wife. Do you understand?”

Garrick nodded slowly, the last fragile fragments of his will crumbling under the relentless hypnotic pressure. “Yes… Master Ronan,” he whispered. The title slipped out naturally, as though it had always belonged there.

A twisted smile of satisfaction crossed Ronan’s face. He turned to Brigid and pulled her into a deep, possessive kiss right in front of her broken husband. Brigid melted against him instantly. She returned the kiss with genuine warmth and growing affection, her soft lips parting eagerly for his tongue. Her hands rested on his broad chest as she sighed softly into his mouth, her voluptuous body pressing tightly against him. The kiss was slow, sensual, and filled with raw hunger. Her full breasts crushed warmly against his chest while her hips shifted restlessly, seeking closer contact.

When they finally parted, Brigid’s lips were swollen and glistening, her breathing ragged. She looked up at Ronan with pure adoration, completely lost in him.

Ronan glanced back at Garrick with calm authority. “Begin your duties. Start by sweeping the common room.”

Without resistance, Garrick picked up the broom with trembling hands and began sweeping with slow, mechanical movements. His eyes remained downcast, a broken shadow of the man he once was. The sound of the bristles against the wooden floor was the only noise he made as he moved through the tavern like a ghost in his former home.

Ronan kept one arm wrapped around Brigid’s waist, holding her close as they watched Garrick work. His hand stroked possessively along her hip, occasionally dipping lower to squeeze the soft curve of her ass through her skirt. Brigid shivered with pleasure at the touch, pressing even closer to her savior. The last visible thread of her husband’s resistance had finally snapped, and with it, any remaining doubt in her own heart.

She was exactly where she belonged.

Later that evening, as the tavern grew quiet and the hearth fire cast a soft, intimate glow across the common room, Garrick quietly served them supper at a corner table. The broken man moved with slow, mechanical obedience, placing bowls of rich stew, fresh bread, and tankards of ale before them without a word. His eyes remained downcast, never lingering on the couple.

Ronan and Brigid sat close together, their bodies pressed warmly against one another on the sturdy wooden bench. Ronan’s hand rested possessively on Brigid’s thigh beneath the table, his strong fingers slowly stroking the smooth, bare skin revealed by the high side slit of her skirt. Each caress sent gentle ripples of heat through her body, making her press her thighs together in quiet need.

“You are mine completely now,” Ronan whispered to her, his voice carrying both commanding authority and a surprising thread of real tenderness. His thumb traced slow circles on the inside of her thigh, inching higher with every pass. “And I find myself caring for you more deeply than I expected. You have become more than just a conquest, Brigid. You have become someone I want to keep by my side.”

Brigid’s sapphire blue eyes shone with conflicted yet sincere emotion. She leaned her head on his broad shoulder, breathing in the warm, masculine scent of his skin mixed with woodsmoke. The weight of his hand on her thigh, combined with the quiet presence of her husband serving them like a servant in his own home, created a storm of feelings inside her. Shame still lingered in the distant corners of her heart, but it was overshadowed by a deep, warm fullness she had never known before.

“I know this is wrong, my savior,” she whispered softly, her voice trembling with honesty. “I know what I have done to Garrick, to our marriage, to everything we built together. Yet my heart feels full when I am with you. You saved me from a life of quiet emptiness. You awakened something in me that I did not even know was sleeping.” She glanced briefly at Garrick, who continued serving without reaction, his face blank and compliant, then turned back to Ronan. Her hand came up to rest gently on his chest. “I choose you. Every day, I choose you.”

Ronan kissed the top of her chestnut brown hair, his lips lingering there with genuine warmth. A twisted affection had grown stronger between them, binding them even tighter than his hypnotic commands alone could achieve. He tilted her chin up and captured her mouth in a slow, deep kiss. Their lips moved together with passionate tenderness, tongues brushing sensually as the firelight danced across their faces. Brigid sighed softly into the kiss, her full breasts pressing against his side while his hand continued its possessive exploration beneath the table, stroking higher along her inner thigh until his fingers brushed teasingly against her slick, heated folds.

When they finally parted, Brigid’s cheeks were flushed and her breathing unsteady. She looked at him with pure devotion, her sapphire eyes shining with a mixture of hypnotic addiction and real, blooming love.

“You have made me happier than I have ever been,” she confessed quietly, nuzzling back against his shoulder. “Even knowing the truth of what we have done… I do not want to go back. I only want to move forward with you.”

Ronan held her closer, his hand still resting warmly between her thighs under the table. He glanced once at Garrick, who stood silently nearby like a obedient shadow, waiting for further orders.

The twisted affection between them had grown roots as deep as the ones he had planted in the tavern itself. What began as conquest and control had transformed into something far more complex. A dark, possessive love that bound Brigid to him not only through hypnosis, but through genuine emotion and overwhelming pleasure.

And in the warm light of the Stone Hearth Tavern, Ronan knew he would never let her go.
