The car stopped in front of the police station.
An old man walked out of the car, looked around, and saw heavy fog around him.
He has a medium-length, narrow face and is of average weight.
He is a really picky eater, very excitable, and very affectionate.
He closed the car door and walked toward the police station.
He heard the wolf howling in the woods.
He looked in the direction where the voice came from.
When he approached the main gate, he saw someone sleeping on the bench next to the door.
He gave his head nods in frustration while putting his hands on his waist.
He yelled.
His voice was trembling in rage.
“Lucas,” I told you that it was not a place to sleep.
Sleeping like that in the open is dangerous.
The old man dropped his hands on his sides.
Marty then bowed his head.
The man who was lying on the bench did not move.
The old man then began to unlock the door.
Simultaneously, he fumbled his own keys, dropping them in frustration.
He walked up to the bench.
He pulled the sheet over the person and saw underneath the sheet a young teenage girl, who looked like she is sixteen, who was sleeping.
Marty looked at me with surprise.
He dropped the sheet on the ground.
I first look at him and then sit up.
I rubbed my eyes and stretched my arms in the air.
In the meantime, I saw a man coming towards us along with a boy who was seventeen years old, and he was in handcuffs.
He has mysterious, rounded, brown eyes, a broad face, a bulbous nose, and ears that stick out.
He has brown hair that is elbow-length and straight.
Looking at his appearance, he is not a lovable person.
The boy was smiling, and the man who was dragging him was very furious.
Marty shifted his gaze from me to the boy’s face.
They walked up to Marty, who is standing next to me.
Marty intervened, preventing the man from taking the child to the police station.
Marty also noticed that the man was soaked wet.
The water dripped out of his clothes.
I was standing there silently.
“Where are you taking him?” Marty asked.
Marty’s voice was laced with sarcasm.
Dorian gives him a grumpy stare-down.
“Just let me go inside.
I am not in the mood to talk.” Dorian’s voice was unwavering.
His lips pressed into a thin line, signaling a controlled anger.
Dorian shoved Marty aside and strode towards the main gate, his gaze fixed on the boy.
He led the boy who was in handcuffs.
As the boy passed me, he spoke.
“Hey, my name is Max Rowen.
Who are you?” I was just standing there staring at him.
I held my head high and straight, an unyielding pillar of determination.
I remained silent.
Dorian then led the boy to the jail cell.
Marty followed him inside the police station.
He shoved Max into the jail cell and locked the door.
Dorian went to the chair and sat on it.
What is wrong with you?
“Why are you grumpy today?” Marty’s voice was steady.
Dorian stands up from the chair.
“Look at me, I am soaked in water this winter, and you are wondering why I am grumpy?” Dorian said, gritting his teeth.
Marty raised his hands in peace.
“You don’t have to yell at me.
I was just asking,” Marty said.
His tone was firm.
Marty placed his hands on his forehead and started rubbing it.
Dorian did not respond and walked towards the bathroom.
Marty then stood in the doorway, trying to block Dorian’s access to the bathroom.
A mischievous, impatient laugh played on Marty’s face.
“Tell me what happened,” Marty spoke with a firm voice.
Dorian shifted his gaze from the ground to Marty’s face.
Dorian moved his eyebrows upwards.
Dorian scratched his beard.
“So, you are thinking that it is a joke?” His voice dropped to a near-inaudible level.
Marty controlled his laugh and asked.
“Come on, it is just my face.
What can I say?
I have a smiley face.” Marty lowered his gaze for a second and then looked at Dorian’s face.
“Fine, tell me what happened.
This time I will never laugh.” Marty spoke in a quiet tone.
Dorian crossed his arms over his chest.
Dorian drew a long breath.
“I was standing near the stream in the willow forest.
It was frozen.
I was just enjoying the view, and the next minute I was in the stream.” Dorian took a small pause, and a minute later started speaking again.
“You know how cold it is.
When I turned my face to the bank, Max was standing there.
You know what he did after seeing me in the stream.
He burst into laughter.”
I jump into the conversation.
“But you said it was frozen.” There was urgency in my voice.
Dorian looked at me.
“Who is she?” Dorian’s voice was strong.
Marty deeply sighed.
Marty pinched the bridge of his nose.
“This model is new in town.
I did not know when I came here earlier this morning that she was sleeping on the bench outside the police station.
I asked her to go home.
I do not know why she is still here.” A note of firmness entered his voice.
I took a step forward and glanced at their faces.
“May I speak?
I have come to ask about the accident that occurred sixteen years ago.
The parents died, and a baby girl survived.
I want to know their names or if they have any family friends who live in this town,” I asked.
There was firmness in my voice.
Dorian returned to the chair and sat there.
Dorian placed his hands palm down on the table.
He looks up at me.
“Hmmm.
First, kid, we have information, but we can only tell you if you have the names of the deceased.” His voice was decisive.
Before I formed a word to speak, Marty interrupted me rudely.
“He is right.
We have a lot of cases reported like that, but we can help you determine how recently the accident happened only if you have names.” His voice was laced with anger and resentment.
Marty walked away from me, saying, “I want you to go home because we cannot help you right now.
Give me your parents’ number so I can ask them to pick you up.” Marty’s voice was strong.
I clenched my fists for a second and then opened them.
I got worried after Marty asked me about my parents’ address and phone number.
“You don’t have to call my parents; I can go home by myself,” I said.
My voice was breaking.
The nervous laugh appeared on my face.
I begin to walk slowly toward the exit.
As I was walking out of the police station.
I bumped into a guy.
He is 18 years old.
As a result of our collusion, he dropped the files from his hands.
I crouch down and try to help him pick up the files.
As I was helping him collect the papers, I saw the photo and abruptly said, “Wolf claws.” A low rumble came out of my mouth.
The man looked up at me.
“What did you say?” His voice was low.
My lips were carved into smiles.
“I did not say anything,” I spoke in a firm voice.
“Do you work here?” The man placed the paper into the file while standing up.
“Yes, I am working here as an intern.
My name is Lucas.
“And you are,” Lucas said.
His voice was steady.
I giggled.
“Oh, you are quite popular here.
My name is Chloe.
I arrived yesterday.” My tone was firm.
Lucas raked his finger through her hair.
He inhaled deeply.
“It is nice to meet you.
I know they hate me, but they don’t have a choice because they don’t have many employees here, so I volunteer to do the job,” Lucas said.
He delivered his words with firmness.
Okay, see you around.
When Marty and Dorian were leaving, they saw me sitting outside the police station.
“What’s she still doing here?” Marty asked.
His voice was loud.
“You didn’t call her parents to pick her up.”
Dorian inclined his head in disagreement.
“I thought you could handle it,” Dorian said.
His voice did not waver.
“I am going home.” If you ask me, you should lock her up and deal with this problem tomorrow.” Dorian jammed his hands into his pockets.
Marty grabbed me by my hand, led me to the jail cell, and locked me up next to Max’s jail cell.
I started shouting.
“You cannot lock me up here.
I am starving.
I did not eat anything.
Listen to me.” My voice was a mixture of anger and disappointment.
Suddenly, they saw a woman enter the police station.
She was badly wounded.
Her clothes were soaked with blood, and she fell on the floor.
