Just as Shen Mengying had feared, things unfolded exactly as she expected.

Despite the man’s refined appearance, gentlemanly demeanor, and flawless speech, none of the nearby customers suspected anything was wrong when they noticed her abnormal state.

“It’s not like that…” Shen Mengying tried to explain in panic.

But her voice was so weak and feeble that no one except the man beside her—Mr. Qin—could hear it.

“What? You still want to drink?” Mr. Qin responded in an exaggerated and helpless tone, as if Shen Mengying had just asked him for another glass.

“Shishi, you’ve had too much. You can’t drink anymore.”

As he spoke, Mr. Qin once again turned to the surrounding crowd, “Please, is there any kind-hearted lady here who can help me?”

“If I don’t get my friend out of here now, she’ll keep drinking, and if she really starts acting out, it’ll become a big problem.”

Of course, the bar patrons didn’t want to get involved in unnecessary trouble.

Seeing that Mr. Qin was looking for someone to help send Shen Mengying home, everyone quickly averted their gazes to avoid being targeted.

In an instant, not only did the crowd stop suspecting the relationship between the two, but even those who had been paying attention turned away.

Shen Mengying felt her heart sink to the bottom.

“I can’t just sit here and wait for the worst.”

Realizing she couldn’t speak up, her body was weak, and she couldn’t even stand, she bit her tongue hard to force herself to stay awake.

“Now the entire pace is controlled by this beast in a suit named Qin. There’s no way I can rely on anyone here to help me.”

“My only chance… is to contact someone nearby who knows me.”

The first person that came to Shen Mengying’s mind was Lin Wanrong.

When she rented her place for work convenience, she had chosen an apartment complex near Lin Wanrong’s standalone villa.

In other words, this bar near her home was also close to Lin Wanrong’s place.

Shen Mengying quickly pulled out her phone and sent a message.

[Director Lin, help me. Yoho Music Bar.]

Thankfully, though her limbs were weak, she managed to send the message with all her remaining strength.

She finally let out a sigh of relief. At least now she had a glimmer of hope.

But beside her, Mr. Qin clearly didn’t intend to let her succeed. The moment he noticed, he lunged to snatch her phone while pretending to scold her, “Why are you so stubborn?”

“Get away!” Shen Mengying hurriedly shoved the phone back into her pocket. “I don’t know you!”

“Shishi, listen to me!” Mr. Qin continued pretending to persuade her, his voice gentle and patient.

When she tucked the phone away, he seemed to want to test her resistance and tried to slip his hand into her pocket.

“Stay away from me!” Shen Mengying was terrified. She used all her strength to swat his hand away.

But even so, she only barely blocked him and couldn’t move him at all.

Seeing this, Mr. Qin seemed to think the time had come. He no longer tried to snatch the phone but once again turned to the others, “Any kind-hearted ladies here?”

“My friend’s starting to get wild from drinking. Can someone help me get her into a car? That’s all I need. I’ll handle the rest myself…”

The crowd still didn’t want to get involved. After a few glances, they quickly looked away again.

“Fine.” Mr. Qin shrugged, putting on a helpless face. “Looks like I’ll have to handle it myself.”

“Shishi, sorry about this.”

He turned and reached for Shen Mengying’s arm, attempting to hoist her up.

By now, Shen Mengying had no strength to resist.

The moment she felt his grip on her wrist, she almost burst into tears.

But just then, a familiar voice rang out like a heavenly sound—

“Let go of her!”

Immediately after, the figures of Cao Chuan and several bodyguards came into her blurry view.

“Young Master Cao!” At that moment, Shen Mengying felt like she had just seen her savior.

Even though she had no strength and her voice was barely a whisper, she mustered all her energy to cry out, “Help me, Young Master Cao!”

Mr. Qin clearly didn’t recognize Cao Chuan. Seeing him approach with bodyguards, he still tried to bluff his way through, “You know Shishi?”

Shen Mengying tried to shake her head, warning Cao Chuan that she didn’t know this man at all.

To her surprise, Cao Chuan seemed to see through everything at a glance. Without hesitation, he punched Mr. Qin square in the face, roaring, “Didn’t you hear me tell you to let go of her, you bastard?!”

The force of his punch was so strong that it knocked Mr. Qin backward, flipping both him and the chair to the ground.

Shen Mengying, who was still being held, almost fell over with him.

Just as she thought she was about to fall, a pair of strong hands caught her shoulders and steadied her.

“Young Master Cao!”

When she saw clearly that it was Cao Chuan supporting her, she felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

He had arrived like a god in her darkest hour, and then caught her just as she nearly collapsed.

She couldn’t stop herself from looking at him with a deeply moved and thankful gaze.

Meanwhile, the surrounding patrons were all stunned.

They stared, unable to process what had just happened.

Shen Mengying wanted to remind Cao Chuan that Mr. Qin had deliberately misled everyone, making them believe he was her friend.

But before she could speak, Cao Chuan kicked Mr. Qin on the ground again.

“You dare target someone from the Cao Corporation? You must have a death wish!”

As he spoke, he glanced at the square-faced, broad-shouldered bodyguard behind him.

The bodyguard immediately pinned Mr. Qin down and tore open his Givenchy suit. From the inner pocket, he pulled out a small packet of white pills. Then he ripped off a button from Mr. Qin’s shirt collar, inspected it, and handed it to Cao Chuan.

“Sedative pills. Micro hidden camera disguised as a button. Confirmed, Young Master Cao—this guy is the infamous ‘Mr. Qin from 91’ wanted for illegal content.”

A gasp echoed through the bar.

“What? Mr. Qin from 91? That scumbag who films those hidden-camera videos?”

“Sedatives? Damn, you mean that baby-faced, twin-tailed beauty just now was drugged?”

“I really thought she was drunk… and that Mr. Qin was her friend.”

“This bastard’s acting was way too good!”

…

Clearly, Shen Mengying didn’t need to say anything more. She didn’t need to worry anymore either.

Cao Chuan was here. She was safe.

“Still, why is my body getting hotter and hotter… and why am I starting to crave… that?”
