Sizzle.
The moment the skin puppet touched Gu Feng’s sleeve, her hand burst into flames.
“I find it filthy.” Gu Feng said coldly, spitting out the words.
Instantly, the skin puppet caught fire, her figure writhing wildly in the flames. The flowers that had bloomed around them withered and died.
Gu Feng frowned slightly in disgust and flicked his sleeve where the puppet had touched it. In fact, he had a bit of a cleanliness obsession. According to the original novel, his character was supposed to be a debauched playboy, indulging in every vice. But Gu Feng couldn’t accept that.
In the original novel, Ling Xue was cold and distant toward him, so he used his pursuit of her as an excuse to reject many advances from others.
Now that he no longer had to follow the plot, he didn’t need to repress himself anymore.
“Let’s go. In the future, if you see someone like this wandering alone, don’t approach them.” Gu Feng sighed. They were still young, and he hoped Fang Zhengwen would learn from this experience.
After bringing Fang Zhengwen back to Feng Ningyuan’s camp, Gu Feng settled him in, then entered his tent to meditate and calm his mind.
[Host, something’s wrong with Bai Yuxiao!]
The system’s voice suddenly echoed in his head.
Gu Feng opened his eyes.
Using the jade pendant he had left as a marker, he crossed the space to Bai Yuxiao’s location.
When he arrived, he saw a scene of blood everywhere. Bai Yuxiao was lying on the ground, unconscious. Opposite him stood a giant wolf with glowing blue eyes, baring its teeth at Gu Feng.
There wasn’t a single person around Bai Yuxiao. Gu Feng knelt beside him and gently patted his cheek. He was still breathing—alive. Gu Feng relaxed, then turned to face the wolf.
Blue Moon Wolves were typically large, but this one seemed smaller. And it appeared to be a female wolf?
But in the next moment, a small figure appeared in front of the female wolf, spreading her arms wide to shield it from Gu Feng.
Her wolf ears revealed her identity.
Gu Feng paused in surprise.
“A wolf demon in human form?”
This was a rare sight in the First Realm.
The little wolf demon was clearly young, and her transformation incomplete. Her large, round eyes were bigger than a normal human’s. She looked like a 15 or 16-year-old girl, wearing a short skirt made of wolf fur.
“Awoo!”
“Still can’t talk, huh?” Gu Feng lost the desire to attack. He crouched down to appear less threatening. His gentle expression and friendly actions helped calm both the young wolf demon and the mother wolf behind her.
“Awoo awoo… I… awoo…”
She tried to speak, but having just recently transformed, she couldn’t even say “I” clearly.
Gu Feng smiled faintly and extended his spiritual consciousness, gently reaching out to the two wolves.
“What happened here?” Gu Feng asked with his mind.
“Awoo awooo… (Bad people took our spiritual herb and killed the wolf king, my father. I ate the last herb, and the bad people ran away.)”
The wolf demon struggled to explain, but Gu Feng understood. It was clear that Ye Fan and his group had taken something and fled, leaving Bai Yuxiao behind as an innocent bystander.
Gu Feng spread his spiritual sense out further. There were wolf corpses everywhere, and a few injured wolves still breathing. The largest wolf’s body lay at the cave’s entrance.
Wolves had keen instincts.
Although Gu Feng had hidden his cultivation, they could still sense his danger. That’s why the little wolf demon had run out to protect her mother when he had prepared to strike. Enjoying the story? Read on at novelping . com.
“I won’t hurt you.” Gu Feng communicated his goodwill. The mother wolf and the little wolf demon visibly relaxed.
For now, he needed to heal Bai Yuxiao.
Gu Feng knelt beside him and placed a palm on Bai Yuxiao’s chest, sending pure spiritual energy through his wounds. Most of the injuries were tears, but there was also a sword wound on his lower back.
Seeing this wound, Gu Feng’s expression darkened.
Wolves didn’t use swords.
As Bai Yuxiao’s breathing steadied, the little wolf demon’s eyes lit up.
Ignoring her mother’s calls, she rushed to Gu Feng’s side, nuzzling his hand and letting out a few excited howls.
“Can you heal my father the way you healed him?” She asked, her bright blue eyes full of hope.
Gu Feng hesitated. He looked into the little wolf demon’s shimmering eyes and found himself unable to refuse.
“Alright, I’ll take a look.”
He stood and walked to the entrance of the cave. The little wolf demon obediently squatted beside the wolf king’s body.
Gu Feng focused his mind on the wolf king’s body. Most of its soul had already dissipated, but he extended his hand and gathered what was left.
Without the captured Qian Rou, it would’ve been impossible to save the wolf king.
Gu Feng pulled out a small, icy gourd. He opened its mouth, and a frozen, pale soul floated out. Qian Rou shivered, kneeling quickly in front of Gu Feng.
“Senior, I know I was wrong! I truly know my mistake!”
