Silvia’s glare sharpened like honed knives, jaw ticking with tension—but she crossed the room in three long, purposeful strides anyway.

“What do you want?” I whispered in fear.

I don’t want to be hit by her.

But she scooped me up effortless in her strong arms like I weighed less than a feather pillow—bridal hold again, one big hand firm and warm cupping under my thighs, fingers pressing steady into the soft flesh there with unyielding grip.

The other splayed wide across my back for full support, thumb brushing my spine accidental.

I yelped loud and sharp, “Honey, put me down right now!” Kicked my legs wild in scared-playful panic, bare feet flailing through the air helpless.

Small fists pounded light and frantic on her broad muscled back—don’t drop me, please don’t hurt me—but she stayed rock-steady, not budging an inch, her body heat radiating solid.

Her scent wrapped around me thick and dizzying, mixing intoxicating with my new harmonious sweetness blooming from the charm.

“Calm down right now, Lyra—stop wiggling around like a hyper crazy kid on too much sugar,” she growled low and rough, voice gruff but laced with that reluctant edge of protectiveness as she carried me back to the bed easy and controlled.

“Host, Silvia wants to protect you!”

Don’t say idiotic things!

“You’re not fully better yet, you little fool.

Doctor said strict bed rest minimum two full days—no exceptions, or you’ll end up back in the hospital.”

“Honey, you’re crazy strong—like scary strong, nobody moves me like that,” I whined high and breathless, kicking my legs tiny one more time for show.

My fists slowed to weak, hesitant taps against her shoulder blade.

Her body warmth seeped through her thin blouse, feeling too damn good against my perfect, glowing skin—almost addictive.

“Lyra, I said calm down—I mean it this time.

No more games or thrashing.” Her big hand swung down quick and decisive—smack—landing solid right on my ass cheek over the thin gown fabric.

Sharp sting exploded hot and blooming through the silk like fire, jolting my whole-body stiff as a board.

I yelled out pained “Ow!”, real tears welling instant in my bright sapphire eyes, spilling hot over my rosy cheeks fast.

She dropped me soft-but-firm right onto the pile of fluffy pillows, yanking the thick duvet up tight and snug over my legs and waist, tucking it in with efficient pulls.

“Stay right there like a good girl.

Or the next one hurts even more—doctor’s strict orders, got it loud and clear?”

“Honey, you hit me…

hic…

it hurt so much bad, really stung…” I sniffled for real, hot tears running fast down my perfect rosy cheeks in shiny trails.

Curled up smaller under the covers like a scared little ball, knees pulled tight to my chest.

I told you so—pure bully mode activated.

She hates me, always will, no matter the promises.

She froze up stiff as a board, red eyes darting away guilty to the sunlit window, jaw clenched hard white-knuckled.

“That was just a quick tap to make you stop acting up like a wild thing.

You get me mad more, and your ass gets it way worse next time—don’t test me.

Now quit all that crying—it’s done and over.”

I shook with real fear, pulling the blanket all the way to my chin with trembling hands, peeking out teary.

“Please…

hic…

no more hits ever…

I’ll be good, pinkie promise I swear on everything.”

Her smell turned subtly sweeter from the charm working its quiet magic.

Her hand hung awkward in the air a long second, hovering.

“Okay, fine—no more hits from me at all.

I promise you that much.

Just rest quiet and behave already—no more drama.”

“Real promise though?

No spanks forever and ever, cross your heart?” I peeked up at her with big wet eyes, voice gone tiny and pleading, wiping my damp face with the soft sheet edge.

“Yes, real promise—no more, period, end of story.

Now stop with the waterworks already,” she said a touch softer than before, dropping down to sit on the bed’s edge all awkward-like, her weight dipping the mattress.

“You won’t kick me out…?”

Her knee brushed mine warm through the covers, sending a tiny spark.

“You’re safe here in this house.

No kicking you out onto the street—ever, no matter what.”

I went quiet for a long beat, looking away all shy and sniffly, wiping more tears slow with shaky fingers.

“Okay…

thank you, Silvia.

Really.”

“You okay now for real?

Fever totally gone?

Any headache left, dizziness, or nausea creeping back?” she asked rough around the edges, her hand finally pressing gentle to my forehead—cool palm stark and soothing against my smooth, glowing skin.

I nodded small and slow, leaning into her cool palm without thinking, craving that steady touch like a lifeline anchoring me.

“Yeah…

cool everywhere now, perfect.

Thanks for carrying me up the stairs last night…

cleaning the sweat off my face and neck so gentle, with that wet cloth.”

She pulled her hand back quick like my skin burned her, clearing her throat loud and gruff.

“Forget about it—just forget the whole thing.

You hungry yet?

Doctor said start light only—soup, broth, or plain toast max to ease your stomach.”

Right then, the system’s ethereal blue screen shimmered into my vision like a secret glow, crisp text pulsing with that familiar chime in my skull.

I blinked hard, heart skipping—her huff laugh counted?

System generous today.

Humph!

I won’t forgive it!

Excitement bubbled as I nodded fast and eager, making the cutest pout with my full pink lips, eyes wide and pleading like a puppy’s.

“Chocolate please?

Craving it so bad right now—just a little tiny bit to cheer me up?”

“Chocolate?

Right after you passed out cold yesterday like a fool?” She huffed a short, genuine laugh—real amusement cracking her ice queen face, red eyes crinkling fraction at the corners.

She stood up slow and reluctant, towering over the bed again like a pine sentinel.

“Host, she laughed!”

Yes, she did!

“But remember, Host…

this is just a simple mission.

Be alert, okay?”

I will!

“Good, I believe in you.”

The screen flared bright then faded with a satisfied ping, rewards sinking in warm like hot cocoa.

The laughing mission was crushed by me—points climbing fast.

“Fine, whatever you want—dark chocolate bar from the kitchen drawer.

One small piece only, no whining for seconds.

And stay put in that bed, feet under covers.”

Her fingers reached out unthinking, touching my shiny blonde hair soft as a whisper, combing through a loose wave gentle.

Tucked a gold strand behind my ear—pure kind glitch in her tough system—before turning sharp for the door.

“Oh, and no more calling me ‘honey’—knock it off for good.”

“Okay…

Silvia,” I whispered soft and obedient, watching her strong back disappear through the heavy door, footsteps fading down the hall.

Still half-convinced the ice queen mask would snap back hard any moment.

She hates me underneath it all…

but damn, her touch felt so warm this time, almost real.

And that laugh?

Progress.
