11 Si Zhanhan, We’re Not Suitable, I’m Leaving

“Ruan Ruan, put the milk candies on the table. It’s time for you to sleep. It’s already very late.”

Ling Qing Ruan refused, clutching a jar of candies tightly in her arms. These were her precious treasures, and she wanted to hold them while sleeping.Full novel: Wah! After Getting Pregnant, the Rich Old Man Lulls Me to Sleep Every Night — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Si Zhanhan took the jar of milk candies from Ling Qing Ruan’s embrace and placed it on the table, then tucked a pink big-eared rabbit into her arms instead.

“I’m leaving now. Sleep well.”

As soon as Si Zhanhan turned around, his wrist was caught by Ling Qing Ruan. Her hand was soft and her grip was weak.

“What’s wrong? Are you still feeling unwell somewhere?”

Si Zhanhan bent down slightly. He was only wearing a black shirt with two buttons at the collar undone, revealing his sexy collarbones and hinting at his firm chest.

Ling Qing Ruan shook her head, not wanting him to leave. If Si Zhanhan left, she would be alone again.

Si Zhanhan sat beside Ling Qing Ruan and gently touched her cheek. “I’ll watch over you while you sleep. Go to sleep.”

Ling Qing Ruan closed her eyes, one arm hugging the rabbit in her embrace while the other hand held onto the man’s wrist. Soon, steady breathing could be heard.

Si Zhanhan lightly poked her little cheek, leaving a small dimple with each poke.

“So delicate. Tell me, are you the most delicate woman in the world, hmm?”

Ling Qing Ruan furrowed her delicate brows and moved her lips, almost waking up. Si Zhanhan immediately withdrew his hand, his gaze falling on her lips.

Si Zhanhan’s eyes darkened slightly as his long fingers gently stroked the girl’s tender lips. “So soft.”

He had begun to recall some memories from that night, especially the girl’s soft body…

Si Zhanhan’s throat felt somewhat dry. He removed Ling Qing Ruan’s hand, stood up, and strode out of the room.

Early the next morning, Ling Qing Ruan was awakened by a phone call. With her eyes closed, she fumbled around on the pillow until she finally found her phone.

“Ruan Ruan, my dear, I heard you were sick last night and your boyfriend picked you up. How are you feeling now?”

“I’m fine, I’ve recovered. Xiaomin, don’t worry. I’m coming back today.”

Ling Qing Ruan yawned, nestled in the soft bedding like a Little Princess in a greenhouse.

“Good, that puts my mind at ease. Your boyfriend is really reliable, truly a daddy-type boyfriend. You should hold onto him tightly, dear.”

Ling Qing Ruan mumbled an agreement. They would be breaking up soon, or perhaps they had never really been together in the first place.

Ling Qing Ruan went downstairs in her slippers, her face pale with illness.

Si Zhanhan was sitting on the sofa in a black shirt that accentuated his lean waist, his tall frame upright and proper.

Ling Qing Ruan walked over slowly and stood beside the man. “Si Zhanhan, I’m going back to Imperial University today to take all my things. I won’t be coming back here anymore.”

Si Zhanhan put down his book and looked up, explaining softly, “Ruan Ruan, about the woman yesterday…”

“Si Zhanhan, you don’t need to explain. I know she’s your fiancée. I’ll leave here as soon as possible and stay at the school from now on. I won’t come back again.”

Ling Qing Ruan smiled, revealing two small dimples. Her smile was sweet and sunny, but this time it looked more painful than a cry.

She didn’t want to be the other woman, nor did she want to ruin someone else’s relationship. She didn’t want to trap Si Zhanhan because of that one mistaken night.

She was only 18, while Si Zhanhan was already 28, having experienced many things. The two of them were simply incompatible, completely unsuited…

Ling Qing Ruan’s eyes welled up with tears, but she fought hard to keep them from falling. Holding her bag, she went to pack the books on the sofa by herself.

After tidying up the books, she headed to the walk-in closet to pack her clothes. However, many of these were clothes Si Zhanhan had bought for her—they weren’t truly hers.

Ling Qing Ruan simply took a few of her own pieces and placed them in a small suitcase.

Si Zhanhan watched the girl’s retreating figure and remained silent for a long time.

Once Ling Qing Ruan finished packing, she carried a small suitcase downstairs.

Si Zhanhan was still standing there. His tall frame exuded an innate nobility, and his handsome face seemed like a perfect masterpiece carved by God.

Ling Qing Ruan’s watery almond-shaped eyes lingered on him for a long time before finally shifting away. This man would never belong to her.

“Are you really leaving?”

A deep voice broke the silence.

Si Zhanhan slowly approached, his long, straight legs carrying an overwhelming presence. Ling Qing Ruan instinctively stepped back, only to be caught by his arm wrapping around her slender waist.

“Yes, I’ll be staying at Imperial University from now on. You… take care of yourself.”

Ling Qing Ruan gently pushed against the man’s chest, but her strength was no match for his—her feeble efforts felt like mere tickles to him.

“Ruan Ruan, the woman from yesterday has nothing to do with me. I have no fiancée—you’re the only woman in my life.”

Ling Qing Ruan looked up and met Si Zhanhan’s deep, dark pupils. His eyes were too profound, holding too many secrets she couldn’t decipher.

“Si Zhanhan, we’re not right for each other.”

Using all her strength, Ling Qing Ruan pushed Si Zhanhan away and left Platinum Manor with her small suitcase.

Si Zhanhan immediately chased after her, his large hand grasping her slender wrist.

“If you must go, let me drive you.”

“That won’t be necessary.”

Si Zhanhan took out a black card from his suit pocket and placed it in the girl’s hand. “This is my supplementary card. Use it for now.”

“Thank you, but it’s not necessary. I have a scholarship from Imperial University.”

Si Zhanhan stubbornly tucked the card into her bag. “Be good and take it. You might need it for emergencies.”

“Thank you, Si Zhanhan.” Ling Qing Ruan smiled, her eyes curving slightly, as if her smile could brighten the entire sky.

It was the first time Si Zhanhan had encountered such a pure girl—one he wanted to protect. But now, he had lost the chance.

“I’ll have the driver take you back. If anything happens, call me. Don’t forget.”

Ling Qing Ruan nodded and got into the car.

As Si Zhanhan watched the girl gradually disappear from his sight, a sudden emptiness filled his heart—a feeling he had never experienced before.

Mu Yu and Mu Yun nearly broke out in celebratory cheers. That woman was finally gone!!

Second Master was free at last—no longer tormented by that little troublemaker. He must be overjoyed, right?

But when they looked at Si Zhanhan, he didn’t seem happy at all.

Mu Feng, clad in black combat attire, suddenly appeared like a flash of lightning. “Second Master, we’ve uncovered some leads regarding the matter from last time.”

The gentleness on Si Zhanhan’s face faded, replaced by an icy coldness. “Continue the investigation. We must get to the bottom of this.”

“Yes, Second Master.”

In an instant, the aura around Si Zhanhan returned to its former state—cold, dark, and forbidding, leaving no one daring to approach.

Mu Yun suddenly missed that little girl a bit. At least when the little girl was around, their Second Master wasn’t so cold and distant.

Regretful, regretful—he had rejoiced too soon.
