“Huh?”
Lancelot stared at Angrona in surprise, but she only shook her head.
“There is no need for confusion.”
“I possess the ability to sense the emotions of others.
Even though the Warp seems unable to function around you, methods such as reading brain waves and certain chemical signals still remain available.
I have long known that you told a few insignificant lies about your identity.”
“That…”
“It does not matter.
Nor do I need to care.
The point is whether I am willing to believe you.
When you brought out that thing, I knew your identity could not possibly be simple.”
“But…
at my core, I still find it hard to believe that anyone would be willing to regard that father of mine as something so pure as a friend.”
Angrona’s tone shifted.
“Because no matter how my gene-father tries to conceal it, I can feel the truth.
He sees us as tools of the Imperium of Man.”
“What he loves is humanity as a whole.
We are only a part of it.
He is a contradiction of a man, bold and radical one moment, timid as a mouse the next.”
“But I cannot truly blame him, because I can understand the man he once was.
I can even sympathize with him.”
Lancelot looked into Primarch Angrona’s calm, red-gold eyes, and a faint trace of surprise appeared in him.
“Why?”
“Because I know that his heart was tormented by immense fear at every waking moment.”
Angrona spoke softly.
“Now, humanity calls him a god.
Even that brother of mine, Lorgar, is the same.
But to me, he was once nothing more than a middle-aged man tormented every waking moment by an immense fear.”
“I once brushed against that fear, just lightly.
I can say that it was a depth so profound it chilled me to the bone and left me unable to move.
Yet he still silently endured that fear and completed the Great Crusade.”
At this point, Angrona paused, then met Lancelot’s gaze.
“So, as his daughter, after he lost everything, I will carry my share of that responsibility.
Lancelot.”
Angrona called his name.
Streams of data seemed to flash through her pupils, sketching a star-region map inside her mind.
And on that map, every direction around Nuceria bore the mark of the highest-level crisis warning.
Chaos invasion.
The Dark Gods of the Warp had sensed the Emperor’s movement.
They might even have already discovered the existence of the Emperor’s blood.
Therefore, certain heretics who had already been lying in ambush began performing profane Warp sorceries, while the Four Gods within the Warp poured out their power almost without reserve.
That was why four daemon armies of different allegiances had begun converging on Nuceria.
But the Lord of the Red Sands feared no challenge.
Nuceria was the homeworld of the Red Angel.
With a loyal Primarch as witness, the loyal warriors of the Imperium swore that Chaos would gain no advantage here.
Before that, however, Angrona had to ensure this battle would produce the greatest possible result.
Which meant…
“Lancelot, it would be best if you left in advance.”
Angrona’s red-gold eyes looked at Lancelot with absolute seriousness.
“Six days from now, the first daemon army of Chaos will surge from the Warp into realspace.”
“Huh?!”
Hearing the Primarch say this, Lancelot froze for a moment before he finally reacted.
Angrona had said all that just to persuade him to hurry up and run?
But where could he run?
At most, he could return to the main Warhammer universe.
Although the Emperor’s blood in his possession had not been exposed there, in that universe, he would be relying entirely on himself.
This side was an ocean of sewage, but at least there were still Primarchs aboard the Imperium’s ship patching leaks.
The main universe, meanwhile, had already been wandering blindly over that same ocean for ten thousand years.
The fact that it had not sunk yet was purely a miracle and a testament to humanity’s stubborn will.
But if Lancelot had to choose, this mirror universe was definitely safer.
Even if the armies of Chaos were approaching, at least this world still had Primarchs.
Besides, when it came to fighting Chaos, Lancelot truly was not afraid.
“Chaos daemons are nothing to worry about.
I possess the ability to anchor the real universe.
Those Warp daemons cannot retain even a tenth of their strength in front of me!”
Lancelot waved his hand and said, “In truth, to me, being randomly teleported to Nuceria this time feels more like a vacation.
Besides, no matter what happens, I have to leave after seven days.
During this period, if any Greater Daemon of Chaos appears, I can fight alongside you.
Lancelot spoke with utter confidence.
Hearing this, Angrona raised her brow slightly.
“Fight together?
Let us not.
All four Dark Gods of Chaos have been stirred by his blood.
According to Magnus’s prediction, four traitors of the Imperium are currently rushing here from all directions.
They are not ordinary daemons.
I believe it would be better to err on the side of caution.”
As Angrona said this, Lancelot’s expression changed at a visible speed.
“Four traitors of the Imperium?”
When he said those words, even Lancelot’s voice warped slightly.
“You mean four traitor gene-Primarchs are on their way to Nuceria?!”
“Does that surprise you?”
Angrona looked at Lancelot’s suddenly changed face.
First, she smiled, then said, “After all, under normal circumstances, no matter what, his blood would be sensed by him.
But you can shield that perception, which means the Dark Gods of the Warp also cannot track your location after you leave.”
Angrona explained, “But right now, you exist on Nuceria.
Even if you can suppress the power of the Warp, you cannot erase it.”
“The region of realspace stabilized by you has, in essence, already given those Chaos Gods a target.”
As Angrona said this, Lancelot was faintly startled.
Soon, he understood the reason behind it.
It was very simple.
The relationship between the Warp and the real universe was, in itself, somewhat like the surface of the sea.
Most areas were calm.
The mental world and the material world did not affect each other.
But now things were different.
Lancelot had taken out the Emperor’s blood in full view of everyone, which in itself had slightly broken the boundary between the Warp and the material universe.
On top of that, the Emperor’s own power had personally descended and poured itself into the Emperor’s blood.
That act had almost instantly disturbed the Warp structure around the planet Nuceria.
Even with Lancelot’s presence, the restless Warp had quickly calmed under the effects of the Inviolable Domain, but the eyes of the gods had already locked onto this planet.
And within a churning ocean of the Warp, if one area suddenly became eerily calm, it would naturally become the focus of their attention.
“Half of the Imperium’s Primarchs rebelled.
Some among them have vanished, but others have already become slaves of Chaos in the truest sense.
The Lion, the Wolf King, the Khan, and Ferrus will soon arrive as representatives of the four Dark Gods of Chaos.”
