“You broke out!?”
The Grandmaster had used Enuncia to place Yousti inside a psychic illusion that deceived his five senses.
As for why he didn’t immediately kill him, it was probably for some other ambitious reason like using his body to fight.
Unfortunately for him.
Yousti has six senses, not five.
Even though the illusion was powerful enough that he didn’t perceive the Grandmaster’s intent it simply could not hide the suffocating red intent surrounding them.
Fortunately for Yousti.
The Grandmaster was a baseline human, Yousti was not.
Within a fraction of a second he had thrown out several bands of silk and wrapped up the Grandmaster.
Before he pulled with his full strength and swung the Grandmaster through the air back on the ground where his head splattered against the stone ground before he could react or say a word.
‘Too bad for you I learned my lesson the first time I fought against Enuncia.
I just have to shut you up immediately.’
He turned to the large group of people he assumed to be the choir he had heard about.
they were all too shocked to react.
The sudden death of their cult leader the Grandmaster had shaken them to the core.
He began wrapping up the silk bandages around his forearms and hands slowly and deliberately as he delivered his thoughts to them.
“If this were a western I’d say you weren’t above the law with a dramatic pointing pose and a cowboy accent.”
They looked at him in confusion.
“But we aren’t in the wild west.”
Yousti kicked the ground with the full force of his leg launching him forward right behind the cultists.
With his other leg he caught the ground and dug into it.
Pivoting his whole body on it.
He transferred all the force of that burst of speed speed into a spinning motion while once again releasing an extremely thin strand of silk that was under extreme tension from the the centrical force of his spin and his internal energy.
The string extended and swung straight through the necks of the choir.
Cutting through them like a wire through clay.
In an instant all their head fell off.
Some of them even made a horrified expression just before their beheaded head fully died.
None of them had the opportunity to speak a single word.
However at this sight he only had one thing to say.
“Damn it.”
He had just used the first form of Silk Song, aptly named the Center Cut because of its use of centrifugal force.
Yousti frowned.
“I made mistake, I didn’t pull the string smoothly enough during the spin. Now I’ve got a punch of heads on the ground. At least it isn’t like my practice with trees.”
First Form: Center Cut when performed perfectly will allow the string to pass through its targets completely smoothly, letting the separated material fall off with its own weight.
However the cultists head flew up instead of being unnoticeably separated due to Yousti’s mistake.
When Yousti was learning the first form, he had practiced by cutting down trees and selling their wood later on.
However he most preferred it when he performed the Center Cut perfectly and horizontally, leaving the tree undisturbed on its stump.
‘That illusion was dangerous.
I was way too lucky, if it weren’t for sensing intent and deducing that I was in an illusion, or the Martial Record connecting with me to perform a martial art that I don’t even understand to break out of it.
Who knows what could have happened to me.’
Yousti began investigating his surroundings.
‘It still appears to be an abandoned city.
But what kind of ritual were they trying to perform?’
Eventually the city was confirmed to be completely empty.
The only that was different from the illusion was the presence of the cultists.
So that’s where he continued to investigate.
‘This is the same woman that was writing down everything.
I kind of feel bad that I killed her like this.’
He began fishing through her corpse to see if he could find the book again.
‘Ah here it is.’
He lifted up the book and continued to read from where he left of last time.
She had clearly written more since the last time he read, so he began to catch up on it.
‘So they arrived to find me put in the illusion under this grandmaster guy for multiple days.
I was in that illusion for multiple days?
Damn it really was scary.’
He continued reading.
‘So the ritual was some kind of thing dedicated to something supernatural.
It’s pretty vague on what though.
And they had nearly finished it with their choir and needed the Grandmaster to speak the final word that only he was strong enough to speak.
It seems some overly enthusiast people got the wrong idea and blew out all their teeth trying to say it.’
‘Oh!
It’s written down.’
Yousti felt curious and tried to say the word himself.
“-”
‘Ow, I feel like a hammer just hit my teeth from the inside.
My throat too.’
He touched his teeth to check if any of them had been knocked loose.
‘I would have been really upset if I lost my perfect dental health record in this li-‘
The ground began to rumble.
“Oh”
Yousti smacked his forehead.
He had realized the consequences of his actions.
He had stupidly felt curious about speaking enuncia and had finished whatever ritual these cultists were trying to do.
He sighed before looking up at they sky that had begun emitting a bright array of purple, red, and other neon lights.
“Oh no.”
It wasn’t very big but he saw what appeared to be a ‘crack’ or ‘rift’ in the sky that emitted those lights that were shining down upon the city.
But despite Yousti’s outward reaction, on the inside he was excited.
‘Finally something interesting!
Let’s see if this transmigration of mine will deliver.’
He quickly found the highest spot in the city and perched himself there.
He couldn’t fly, nor did he know how to step in the air yet.
So all he could do was wait for something to out of the hole in the sky while intently observing the swirling vortex of red intent around the rift
‘It’s condensing, when that vortex condenses…’
His intuition told him clearly what came next.
‘When it condenses something will come out of that hole.’
“Silk Spirit your curiosity has brought great calamity to our world.”
Yousti turned around to the voice that just spoke out.
It was a tall man clad in golden armor, he had long hair.
His appearance really had a lot of outlandish details.
But what irked him the most was his intent.
It was red as he saw all other intent but it wasn’t the same as the red intent that permeated the world.
It seemed to simply identify the contours of something about the man and said nothing about hostility.
But what mattered was the aura of intent that covered a wide radius around the man.
It kept on shifting and warping around him.
‘Everyone I’ve met only emits strings of intent.
The Martial Record says that one can gain a sphere of intent within the 5 Energies Converging at the Origin stage.
But his isn’t a sphere, it’s like some kind of gaseous aura.
Also he snuck up on me.’
‘Now that I think about it.
His intent is red, but why don’t I feel like it’s hostile in the same way that the ambient red intent is?
Actually why is only my intent blue?
These are questions I must explore when I can.’
Yousti while contemplating all these thoughts had unintentionally stared at the golden armored man for an uncomfortably long silence.
“What’s your name?”
“You may call me Neoth”
