The next morning, Yao Yao had breakfast in the dining room with her hair in a bun.
“Are you going to start an internship this summer?” Yao Yao took a bite of the bun.
“Yes, I plan to intern at N Airlines.” Huo Konghe looked at her.
“Alright, N Airlines should be accepting interns.” Yao Yao nodded. She did say that she would recruit interns this year.
“N Airlines opened a new materials research institute. I plan to intern there.” Huo Konghe had already made his plans.
“Ah… I heard about it.” Yao Yao was in a slight pinch. She went to the research institute almost every day previously. If he went there for an internship, she wouldn’t be able to go there during that period.
“Will you be at the research institute?” Huo Konghe looked at her with sparkling eyes.
“I might be sent to the American branch for a business trip.” Yao Yao shook her head. This was also a contingency plan she had just come up with. Coincidentally, she hadn’t been to the American branch for a long time.
“Alright.” Huo Konghe was a little disappointed. “How long will you be gone?”
“Let me think… If I’m busy, it might take about two months.” Yao Yao took a sip of soy milk.
That would be the entire summer vacation, Huo Konghe thought. It seemed like he couldn’t really bear for her to be away for so long.
Yao Yao got up and patted his head, as if she was patting his dog ears that were drooping.
“I’m going to the hospital to accompany my father today,” Huo Konghe said.
“Let me send you. There’s a lot of traffic on weekends.” Yao Yao went upstairs to change.
Yao Yao was dressed very fashionably today. She was wearing a pair of big sunglasses on her small face paired with a white off-shoulder short-sleeved shirt, ripped jeans, and a pair of red canvas flats. She looked very good. Huo Konghe had also seen other girls in school dressed like this, but none of them were as beautiful as Yao Yao.
“Go ahead. I’ll tell you in advance if I’m going on a business trip.” Yao Yao rolled down the window, and Huo Konghe nodded and waved goodbye to her.
After driving for a while, Yao Yao didn’t know where she should go. She first called Jia Jia and asked her out for dinner, then parked the car in the business district before settling down at a dessert shop to call her assistant.
“Have we not been to the American branch for a long time?” Yao Yao picked up a piece of her red velvet cake.
“President Yao, would you want me to make plans to go there soon?” The assistant replied.
“When do the internships start?”
“The results are out on June 15th, President Yao.”
“Let’s set it on June 16th.” Yao Yao took a sip of coffee.
“Alright, President Yao. Should we inform Chairman Yao?” The assistant asked considerately.
“I’ll talk to him myself, then book a hotel. Let’s book it for two months first.”
Chairman Yao was Yao Yao’s uncle. Yao Yao’s parents passed away early, and it was Yao Yao’s grandfather who raised her. When Yao Yao was sixteen, her grandfather also passed away. His grandfather’s will clearly stated that when Yao Yao was capable, all his shares would be transferred to Yao Yao, and Uncle Yao was in charge of running N Airlines before that.
Uncle Yao wasn’t a greedy person. When he saw that Yao Yao was capable enough, he gave up his position to Yao Yao and went to the branch in the United States. He led a very leisurely life there, and even though he was the chairman in name, he seemed to have gone to the United States to retire.
“You’re going to America? Is there anything wrong with Uncle Yao?” Jia Jia grew up with her, so she certainly knew everything about her family.
“No, the golden retriever is coming to N Airlines for an internship, so I’m going to America to take a look.” Yao Yao took a deep breath.
Jia Jia rolled her eyes. “Can you do that? You should just quickly tell him the truth.”
After telling Huo Konghe, he might not be willing to meet with her anymore. After all, their differences were so great.
“What’s the matter? Are you willing to wait for him to grow up?” Jia Jia thought that her friend was crazy. “Even though the two of you are only a few years apart, that’s not the only problem.”
Waiting for him to grow up… Yao Yao didn’t seem to mind. Instead, she was looking forward to seeing what kind of person Huo Konghe would become in the future. Her intuition told her that Huo Konghe would definitely be outstanding.
“You’re really crazy. You don’t want those with money and power, but you want to wait for a poor kid.” Jia Jia shook her head. “Qi Qi and the young master of the Shen family, Shen Hua, have asked me out for a meal. They even asked me to invite you to join us.”
“Shen Hua has asked me out a few times, but my assistant rejected him every time.” And Qi Qi, she hadn’t seen him since the last time they spoke on the phone. Hearing this, Yao Yao had a headache. If she didn’t go after so many invitations, she would embarrass the Shen family. Even though they had no business dealings, she couldn’t offend them either.
“Let’s go and shop for a change of clothes in the afternoon. You really look too young in this outfit.” Jia Jia looked at her canvas shoes speechlessly.
Yao Yao wasn’t in the mood to eat the cake anymore. She leaned on the table, feeling depressed.
After being dragged by her friend to go shopping, she finally bought a white off-shoulder dress and a pair of stilettos with a thin strap before Jia Jia was willing to let her go.
“That’s more like you, President Yao.” Jia Jia nodded and looked her up and down.
“Where’s your DB11? I haven’t seen you drive it in a long time.” Jia Jia got into the car.
“Let’s go home and change the car.” Yao Yao couldn’t explain to her that she changed cars because of Huo Konghe, and Jia Jia didn’t want to expose her.
When they got home, Yao Yao was made to dress up again. Jia Jia was finally satisfied, and the two of them drove to the meeting venue.
