Shorts, the Old-school Duelists Have a Meltdown!
# Chapter 21: The Main Card of the Toxic Eldlich!
Eldlich the Golden Lord!
In the collective consciousness of all duelists, a deck followed a specific ratio!
Monster cards, spells, and traps were supposed to occupy balanced proportions.
It was widely accepted that a deck couldn’t consist entirely of monsters.
It couldn’t consist entirely of spells.
And it certainly couldn’t consist entirely of traps!
At least, that was the prevailing wisdom among duelists in the earlier generations of the Dueling Worlds.
If a deck was nothing but traps, how was anyone supposed to play?
What kind of strength could a deck like that possibly possess?
…
**DM World**
The duelists who had already engaged with Yuuki Hoshi stared at the Eldlich system, where traps occupied seventy percent of the total build.
Many of them nearly suspected that Yuuki Hoshi was intentionally showing them a “garbage” archetype!
Who in their right mind would put that many trap cards in a deck?
What was even more ridiculous was how few monster cards there were!
Could a system like this actually produce any results?
“Traps take up two-thirds of the deck…”
“This system is quite interesting.”
“So, it primarily relies on traps to create disruption?”
“But here’s the question: what kind of offensive capability do the monsters have?”
“If you want to win, traps alone won’t be enough.”
Yugi Muto frowned, beginning his evaluation.
He was, after all, something of a “toxic” backrow player himself, often packing his deck with various interesting trap cards.
However, he knew deep down that traps were merely supplementary; the core engine had to be the monsters.
“Yugi, since it’s called ‘Eldlich,’ is that [Eldlich the Golden Lord] card he included three copies of the most important one?”
Téa Gardner observed closely.
Across the various deck builds being displayed, she noticed a pattern.
[Eldlich the Golden Lord] seemed to be the indispensable core!
…
**GX World**
“Mamma mia!”
“What kind of build is this? How do you even play this garbage?”
“I give this a zero!”
“I’ll be honest—with a system like this, my [Ancient Gear Golem] would wipe the floor with it!”
Professor Crowler immediately began boasting, spewing a barrage of criticism.
However, the surrounding students and teachers didn’t doubt his words for a second.
It wasn’t just because he was a professor; it was because [Ancient Gear Golem] didn’t fear spells or traps!
The sheer value of a Battle Phase lockdown!
Professor Crowler had crushed countless “toxic” trap-heavy decks in his time.
Against this Eldlich, he seemed to have a genuine advantage.
“Hmph. Do they enjoy stalling and interference?”
“I despise decks like that the most.”
“But my Cyber Dragons have nothing to fear!”
“I’ll crush this toxicity. A [Cyber End Dragon] powered by [Power Bond] will teach him a lesson he won’t forget.”
Zane Truesdale watched the Eldlich display with cold eyes.
As the successor of the Cyber Style, he had used his Cyber Dragons to blow through many disruptive systems.
Lacking knowledge of Eldlich’s specific mechanics, he felt no fear toward its heavy backrow.
…
**5D’s World**
Yusei Fudo, however, held a completely different attitude compared to the previous two worlds.
Looking at the trap-saturated build, a thought actually germinated in his mind: *I really don’t want to duel this deck.*
“Synchro Summoning is actually most vulnerable to interference,” Jack Atlas noted, taking a deep breath after explaining his reasoning.
“After all, you need both a Tuner and a non-Tuner. This system… it’s going to be difficult to handle.”
If a Tuner was flipped face-down or removed by a trap, the Synchro play was dead.
The player would immediately fall into a defensive disadvantage.
“Don’t worry yet, let’s see what happens,” Leo said, pointing at the massive screen on the Turbo Duel motorcycle.
Sure enough, the video uploader, *IWantToBecomeAnEldlichPro*, had begun the explanation.
**IWantToBecomeAnEldlichPro**: “Alright, now that we’ve seen the basic construction, let’s talk about the essential ace of this deck!”
**IWantToBecomeAnEldlichPro**: “[Eldlich the Golden Lord]!!!”
[Card Name: Eldlich the Golden Lord (Level 10)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Zombie]
[ATK/DEF: 2500 / 2800]
As the card appeared, its two simple but brutal effects flashed before the duelists’ eyes!
**Effect 1:**
You can send this card and 1 Spell/Trap from your hand to the GY, then target 1 card on the field; send it to the GY.
“Simple, dominant graveyard-stacking, non-destructive removal! Though it does target!”
**Effect 2:**
If this card is in your GY: You can send 1 Spell/Trap you control to the GY; add this card to your hand, then you can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your hand.
If you do, until the end of your opponent’s turn, it gains 1000 ATK/DEF and cannot be destroyed by card effects.
“Self-recycling and self-Special Summoning. Furthermore, the summoned monster gets a massive stat boost and effect destruction protection.”
“Now, here’s where it gets interesting!”
“Did you notice? This card provides active removal through the graveyard, and then it can recur itself. Both effects can be used once per turn.”
“Do you see the terrifying synergy yet?”
As the video uploader’s voice faded, the duelists across all six worlds processed the information.
Their expressions shifted from confusion to a creeping sense of dread.
This card…
was bizarre!
No, that wasn’t it…
This card’s effects were absolutely disgusting!
