## Watching Yu-Gi-Oh!
Shorts, the Old-school Duelists Have a Meltdown!
# Chapter 23: Protecting Zombie World?
Monster Effects Locked Down!
In the DM World, after a thorough explanation from Bonz, the gathered duelists finally grasped the vital role [Doomking Balerdroch] played within the Eldlich engine.
The realization hit them like a bolt of lightning.
They finally understood the absolute necessity of the Field Spell, [Zombie World].
With that field active, the game transformed into a grueling gauntlet of attrition designed to torment the opponent.
…
In the GX World, Professor Crowler sat in his chair, rendered speechless and numb.
“Wait just a moment!” he thought.
“If that’s the case, my [Ancient Gear Golem] might not have such an easy time against Eldlich after all!”
Even with a staggering 3000 ATK, his Golem would be forcibly converted into a Zombie.
He would be forced into a nightmare loop—destroying a monster only for it to refuse to stay dead, eventually falling prey to [Eldlich the Golden Lord]’s removal effects.
But for the sake of his dignity, Professor Crowler cleared his throat and attempted to analyze the deck’s flaws.
“It certainly looks intimidating,” he began, addressing his students and fellow teachers.
“But think about it. This deck is far too reliant on its Spells and Traps. Take this… what was it? [Zombie World]? It’s just a Field Spell!”
He gestured dismissively.
“If I get rid of that, doesn’t [Doomking Balerdroch] become useless? Honestly, don’t overcomplicate things. One [Mystical Space Typhoon] is all it takes to shatter their entire strategy.”
Crowler’s analysis caused several duelists to fall into deep thought.
It made sense.
If the field was destroyed, the threat of the Doomking would plummet!
“Look at that monster! [Necroworld Banshee]! It looks like she can protect the field.”
On the screen, the next card recommended for the deck appeared.
[Card Name: Necroworld Banshee (Level 4)]
[Attribute: DARK]
[Type: Zombie]
[ATK/DEF: 1800/200]
[Effect: You can only use the ② effect of this card’s name once per turn. ①: While this card is in the Monster Zone, “Zombie World” in the Field Zone cannot be destroyed by card effects, also neither player can target it with card effects. ②: (Quick Effect): You can banish this card from your field or GY; activate 1 “Zombie World” directly from your hand or Deck.]
Two simple, elegant, and devastatingly effective effects.
The first provided an ironclad shield for [Zombie World], granting it immunity to destruction and targeting!
The second offered unparalleled consistency, allowing the player to activate the Field Spell directly from the deck during either player’s turn!
With these two effects displayed, Professor Crowler fell into a stunned silence.
“Since when did this Field Spell get its own personal bodyguard?!” he screamed internally.
From this perspective, the protection for the Field Spell was near-absolute.
Even if the opponent managed to out it, the player could just use the Banshee to pull another one right back from the deck!
This was absurd!
The duelists of the GX World were left speechless.
Had the world changed so much that even a single Field Spell was now this difficult to deal with?
…
**IWantToBecomeAnEldlichPro**: “Alright, I believe the Zombie World Eldlich variant has been explained sufficiently.”
**IWantToBecomeAnEldlichPro**: “Next, we’ll look at one more monster often used to lock the opponent out of the game. Once we’ve covered this, we’ll be done with the core monster lineup!”
“That card is none other than…”
“[Inspector Boarder]!!!”
[Card Name: Inspector Boarder (Level 4)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Machine]
[ATK/DEF: 2000/2000]
“How do I put this? If you already control a monster, you can’t Normal or Special Summon this card. But if it hits the field successfully, while it remains in the Monster Zone, the number of monster effects each player can activate per turn is limited to the number of monster types—Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, and Link—currently on the field.”
“In simple terms, the more types of monsters on the field, the more effects you can use. However, at the start of a duel, it’s impossible to have all those types out at once. This effectively shuts down most monster-heavy strategies.”
“For the Eldlich player, who relies primarily on Traps, this card doesn’t hinder us at all.”
…
As the explanation for [Inspector Boarder] concluded, the duelists watching were beyond numb.
This Eldlich system…
it really was designed to maximize lockdown, interference, and suppression to the highest degree, wasn’t it?
The previous locks, combined with the suffocating pressure of [Inspector Boarder]…
duelists across all six worlds felt a chill running down their spines.
If they actually had to duel against an Eldlich deck, what would their chances of winning be?
Would their spirits break before the duel even ended?
In the DM World, Joey Wheeler’s fists were clenched tight.
He was a duelist who detested “toxic” playstyles more than anything.
Watching this sequence of monsters unfold made his blood boil.
