Chapter 2 - 1 Million Dollars & The Legal Range Rover.

Weakest RPG System: 10,000x Rewards

"Where are you going? I thought we were going to hang out, bestie."

A blonde-haired girl wearing a stretchy white tank top and baggy black jeans stood in front of Liam, she was smiling, but her eyes were as if questioning Liam aggressively.

Fuck, I forgot how spineless I was.

Liam closed his eyes with frustration, pressed his index and middle fingers against his forehead, and rubbed it hard. Clara Hartmann, his crush from high school, friendzoned him after he asked her out, she wanted to be friends with him, and he just played along.

"Listen, Clara, I don’t want to be rude, but I don’t want us to be friends anymore."

"What?!!"

Clara smiled, mixed with disbelief. Liam, seeing the bewilderment on her face, could guess she took it badly, the prettiest girl in high school rarely heard no from anyone, much less from her number one simp.

"Yeah, I think we should move on in life and make different friends."

"Wow, this came out of nowhere. Are you sure?"

Clara smiled, the shock was evident on her face, but she looked like she was giving Liam a chance to take his word back.

"Yeah, pretty sure."

Liam nodded his head, his eyes were following the Range Rover, which stopped just ten feet away from him, and wearing a luxurious suit, a person stepped down from the driver’s seat.

"I hope you don’t regret this decision."

"I won’t, good luck."

Seeing the man in the tailored suit approaching him, Liam focused on him instead of Clara. She stomped her feet on the ground, turned around, and walked off.

"Are you Liam Carter?"

A deep voice came out of the person as he adjusted his tie, in his hand there was a picture of a small boy who looked like Liam.

"Yes, who are you?"

"I am Marcus Cross, city attorney. I would like to have a personal conversation with you, Mr. Carter."

"I am all ears."

Liam frowned lightly, he has his doubts about this person and the system rewards. The system mentioned that it will use real-life tactics or something, so this might be it.

"Ten years ago, when you were walking beside Elysian Park, due to the city’s negligence and poor maintenance, you fell in a hole. Is this detail correct?"

"As far as I remember, that’s correct."

Liam nodded his head, then realized the photo of the boy in this attorney’s hand was his, this is when he fell into a gutter. Rebecca, his older sister, would make fun of him for months over this.

"After watching the surveillance footage, a law firm sued the city on your behalf, it’s been eight years since then. The claim is for twenty million dollars in your favor, but city officials have decided if you would be interested in taking a million dollars in cash, fully tax-paid, and this brand-new Range Rover instead."

Liam raised an eyebrow, this never happened in his past life. This event was new, or you could say almost artificially generated by the system for him to get the rewards legally.

Hey, I like this system, but what if I push for more?

"Why would I settle for less? I can get the whole twenty million instead if they win, right?

"Sure, you can, but I am the lawyer from the city’s side on this. The lawsuit was based on a child, Liam. Seeing you’re an adult and there’s no permanent damage on you as it was claimed, I don’t think you will get even what I am offering in the end, and the case could be in the court for a decade more."

"I got it, I will do the private settlement."

Liam understood, if the system were this powerful to create such scenarios, he might not get anything at all if he wanted to push its button.

"Smart. The law firm that sued the city will go bankrupt soon, so your decision is a wise choice. Here, take my business card if you ever need counsel."

Marcus handed him a business card first, then gave Liam two keys attached to a small diecast Range Rover, which was a keychain modeled after the exact car he was about to own.

"The car has already been transferred in your name, and wait a minute."

Marcus and Liam walked to the Range Rover. Liam, seeing the glistening of the car, was awed, it was massive. Although he was five foot ten, the car still towered over him by a few inches, and the ground clearance was immense.

"Yes, release the funds."

Marcus called someone and ended it in a few words, then he opened the driver’s side door gently and pulled a file from the top of the dashboard, handing it to Liam with a pen.

*BUZZ*

Liam’s phone vibrated, he pulled it out to see if he really got the money in his bank account. By this point he understood everything that was happening with him, the dimly lit cracked screen showed he got the money.

"A million has been deposited, yes?"

" Yep "

"Sign the NDA and legal waiver form, and you’re good to go."

Liam didn’t waste any more time, he signed the papers while reading the bullet points from head to bottom just to make sure there was no unnecessary clause in them or anything Marcus didn’t claim.

"Done."

"Enjoy your new ride."

Marcus left as fast as he arrived, but this time he took a taxi. Liam suddenly felt like he was all alone with his new car, a fascinating SUV that not only looks cool but is also his style, he is a big car guy.

Damn! This red system is too good. Wait, so it means I only have one system that works, and the other one will just amplify whatever shit I get from this weakest green system? Not a bad combination.

Liam cracked his neck as he thought for a second and stepped into the driver’s seat, he already had a driver’s license, so driving it around was no problem.

*SHUT*

"Damn! This air conditioner is excellent."

Shutting the door, Liam closed his eyes and rested his back on the leather seat to relax, the car was cooled almost instantly. When he turned on the massage button, the leather seat under him felt unreal and super cozy, the black interior felt super premium.

"System"

"So, for this system, my life is a low-tier game? Well, can’t deny that. my life was and still is a low-tier game, otherwise, why would my lovely wife take everything from me and leave me to die like a beggar?"

Seeing the system panel, Liam smiled, he understands what benefits this system brings him. This system gives him the opportunities he never had and might never have even with his future knowledge.

Liam clicked to get his first mission, he wanted to progress in this low-tier game, which yields high-tier rewards in return.
