I have a few important things I want to share with you today regarding the future of our story and my current situation.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the plot and the expansions I want to explore, especially regarding the world-building. As an ambitious writer, I want to flesh out this world without leaving any plot holes. I really want to explain exactly how everything operates and how each location evolves after the major shifts in the main story. For example, what is the current state of the Viper Squad? What about their bunker and the Sanctuary? Will they expand? What progress have the other survivors made? And that only covers Indonesia. I haven't even touched on the progress Richter has made in the background, or what is going on with Maya.
Because of all this, I often find myself holding back when writing. Since you guys have been my partners throughout this long journey, I want to ask for your opinion. Do you prefer a highly detailed explanation of the world-building, or should I keep it brief—just a 4 to 6-paragraph mention—and focus mainly on the central plot?
If you choose the detailed route, there might be 3 to 7 chapters, or even a dozen, taking place on the exact same day in the plot just to explain the lore. The story will gain incredible depth, but it will definitely affect the pacing. I want to avoid stretching the story in a way that hurts your reading experience, so I’d love to discuss it with you. You have a voice in shaping this story too, so please let me know what you think.
Speaking of making the story better, I also have a plan to revise the entire first Arc, specifically Chapters 1-20. The early chapters have a different writing style compared to the newest ones, and I've noticed a few minor plot inconsistencies. I want to take this chance to update the character metadata so I don't lose track of minor details, and ultimately make the early reading experience much smoother. Any revised chapter will be marked with "[RE] Chapter (Number) : (Title)". So, if you don't see a new chapter update from me for a whole week, you might want to check out the early chapters instead!
That is the good news, but I also have some tough news regarding my schedule. I am currently a college student, and my assignment burden has been incredibly heavy lately. I have classes every weekday from 7 AM to 4 PM, followed by extra night classes from 7 PM to 10 PM just to help with my grades. Even my weekends are packed with coursework. Because of this intense schedule, I have been really busy and won't be able to update as frequently as before.
However, despite the busy schedule, I still want to update some of my other works. In fact, I have a few new projects in the pipeline! Don't worry, these will just be short stories—under 20 chapters, similar to my work on "The Ritual That Starts Everything".
