Noticing the trace of fatigue on Pei Xi’s face, Si Ruohan asked gently,

“Are you tired? I’ll take you to the bedroom to rest for a while.”

Pei Xi truly was exhausted—perhaps because of the pregnancy. All she wanted was to lie down.Full novel: What Should I Do After Getting Pregnant with the Second Male Lead’s Child? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

That afternoon, Si Ruohan had already arranged for clothes suitable for her to be delivered. Everything—from outerwear to undergarments—was neatly placed in the walk-in closet beside his own clothes.

Looking at the spacious wardrobe, Pei Xi noticed that most of it was now filled with brand-new women’s clothing, tags still attached.

“These… are all for me?” she asked.

He nodded. “Of course. I had the store send them over. Do you like them?”

Like them? What girl didn’t love beautiful clothes? Not only were they stylish, but the fabrics looked expensive—far beyond what she would normally dare to buy.

“I like them. Thank you.”

She hadn’t expected such thoughtfulness from him.

“As long as you’re satisfied. If you’re tired, go lie down. I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.”

Her eyes widened. “You’re cooking?”

What kind of perfect man was this? Capable in business and in the kitchen?

He nodded casually. “Of course. You’re here now. If I don’t cook, will you? I rarely eat at home, so I never hired a full-time cook. But I can handle it myself when needed. Don’t worry—my cooking won’t give you a stomachache.”

He preferred not to order takeout if there were ingredients at home. “No matter how good a restaurant is, food loses its color and taste after being delivered.”

Pei Xi finally understood—it was simply his habit. A man who could cook definitely earned bonus points.

“Then I’ll leave it to you.”

“What’s so hard about it? I need to eat too. I’ll change first. If you need anything, I’ll be in the study next door.”

Still dressed in his suit, he picked out comfortable clothes, quickly changed in the bathroom, and left, closing the door behind him so she could relax.

Pei Xi was so tired that she lifted a corner of the blanket and fell asleep almost immediately.

Meanwhile, Si Ruohan went downstairs to check the kitchen, called someone to deliver extra ingredients, and only then headed to the study.

Inside, he took out their marriage certificates and looked at them for a while before locking them carefully in the safe.

Now that there was a pregnant woman in the house, someone reliable had to help take care of her.

After thinking it through, he decided to call his grandparents and ask the old family residence to send someone trustworthy.

His grandfather, Si Lingchuan, was a veteran revolutionary. Of his three sons, the eldest joined the military, the second went into business, and Si Ruohan’s father had once been something of a playboy before entering the entertainment industry and marrying an actress. Now they were traveling the world.

As for Si Ruohan, he had started his own company in college, and it had grown considerably.

The call was answered quickly.

“Hello!”

His grandfather’s voice was as loud as ever.

“Grandpa, I haven’t visited in a few days. How’s your health?”

“I’m doing fine! What’s this? You suddenly remembered to care about me? Coming home tonight?”

In his generation, Si Ruohan ranked fourth, so everyone called him “Little Four.”

“Grandpa, I’m busy this weekend. But hearing your strong voice, I know you’re healthy. Actually, I’m calling because I need a favor.”

“A favor? There’s something you can’t handle?”

The old man sounded amused.

“It’s nothing big. I’ve been craving Aunt Liu’s cooking. I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been eating properly—my stomach’s acting up. Medicine isn’t good long-term, and Aunt Liu makes excellent soups. Could you lend her to me for a while?”

Hearing about his “stomach problem,” his grandfather scolded him lovingly and even suggested he move back home.

But Si Ruohan refused politely and insisted he only needed Aunt Liu for a while.

He trusted her. She had helped raise him and had taken care of him before when he was sick.

Within two hours, Aunt Liu arrived.

Seeing him chopping vegetables, she rushed over anxiously. “Young Master! Why are you doing this? Let me cook! You said your stomach’s bad—why didn’t you ask for help earlier?”

He stopped her gently. “Aunt Liu, I need to tell you something first.”

He admitted he had lied—his health was fine. He needed her to take care of someone else.

“Someone else? A woman?”

“…My girlfriend.”

“What? You have a girlfriend? Where is she? Is she here?”

He quickly hushed her. “She’s resting. Please don’t tell anyone yet. She’s shy. If Grandpa and Grandma find out, they’ll rush over and scare her.”

After repeated assurances, Aunt Liu agreed to keep the secret.

At dinner, she finally saw Pei Xi and nodded approvingly. Beautiful, graceful—very well-matched with her young master.

Pei Xi greeted her politely, and Aunt Liu beamed, even calling her “Fourth Young Madam,” offering her chicken soup.

The meal was delicious. Pei Xi even ate half a bowl more than usual.

After dinner, Aunt Liu urged them to take a walk for digestion.

Si Ruohan showed Pei Xi around the courtyard and later took her by the riverside. The sun was setting, crimson clouds reflecting on the water. A row of willows swayed in the cool breeze.

“It’s so nice living here,” Pei Xi said softly. “This place must be expensive.”

“As long as you’re comfortable. Money can always be earned again.”

They walked for a while, chatted, and eventually returned.

Pei Xi unpacked some of her usual cosmetics.

“You’re pregnant,” he reminded her. “I’ll get you pregnancy-safe products tomorrow.”

She agreed.

“I’ll shower first,” he said.

Hearing the water run, Pei Xi paused, glancing at the large bed.

Technically, this was their wedding night.

Would they really sleep together?

After showering, Si Ruohan even filled the bathtub with warm water and added essential oils for her to relax.

He walked out in a loose bathrobe, towel-drying his hair, his chest slightly exposed.

Pei Xi glanced at him quickly and turned away.

He chuckled inwardly. They were legally married now—she would have to get used to it.

He picked out a nightgown for her.

“I’ve prepared a bath for you. Soak and relax. I’ll go to the study for a bit.”

He left to give her space.

Looking at the nightgown in her hands, she realized it was a spaghetti-strap design. In fact, all the nightwear hanging there was similar.

Were there no other styles?

She considered wearing her own pajamas but hesitated—he had prepared these for her.

In the end, she decided to wear it.

After all… he had already seen everything before.

With that thought, Pei Xi gathered her things and went to take her bath.
