A human would have probably been incinerated.

Feeling the heat, she adjusted her collar, not noticing the dark gleam deep in Hotte’s eyes.

Sometimes, having a higher vantage point offers unexpected views.Full novel: What! You Want to Date a Pet? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Do you have a name?

Or I can give you a new one.”

Hearing this, Cheng Xi blurted out, “Cheng Xi!

My name is Cheng Xi!”

She pointed at herself and clearly enunciated the two words, “Cheng Xi.”

Hotte imitated her pronunciation.

“Cheng Xi?”

She nodded emphatically.

“Yes, Cheng Xi.”

“Good.

Since you have a name, I won’t give you another one.”

With that said, he suddenly added with dissatisfaction, “Come here.

Why are you standing so far away?”

“…”

‘It’s hot, dude!’ Cheng Xi was speechless.

He couldn’t understand her words, so she had no choice but to use gestures.

She mimed that it became very hot whenever she was near him, fanning her face and wiping non-existent sweat from her forehead to show her discomfort.

Hotte understood.

“Because my body is hot?”

Cheng Xi nodded quickly.

The heat was one thing, but on the other hand…

Hotte was silent.

Human body temperature really was a bit low.

He didn’t force the issue.

Instead, he turned and walked away, then activated his Light Brain and gave a command.

“Bring the items up.”

The out-of-the-blue command left Cheng Xi confused.

But she soon found out.

Mary and Mani entered again, and this time, she watched carefully.

The bedroom door didn’t push open; it slid.

After they came in, the door closed automatically, as if through some kind of sensor, or perhaps by remote control.

Cheng Xi couldn’t help but purse her lips.

Mary and Mani were a little excited.

“My Lord, should we set up the human pet’s nest here?”

‘A human pet’s nest?’ Question marks appeared over Cheng Xi’s head.

‘It can’t be for me, can it?’

Hotte said, “Put it here for now and let’s see.”

“Yes, My Lord.”

As soon as the words were spoken, Cheng Xi saw Mary twist a bracelet on her other wrist.

Only then did she realize that the accessories the Aliens wore on both wrists weren’t just for decoration but served another purpose.

The instant the bracelet turned, space seemed to rupture and fluctuate.

Then, a massive object blocked Cheng Xi’s vision.

With a THUD as the heavy object landed, a cube-shaped, pink pet nest nearly 1.8 meters tall appeared on the floor.

Shock was written all over Cheng Xi’s face.

‘So it wasn’t teleportation, but the bracelets on their hands.

This is just like the mustard seed spaces in cultivation novels!’

‘My god, that’s so high-tech!’

She was so shocked she couldn’t even spare a glance for the nest.

Hotte, however, circled the newly bought pet nest, then turned to her and asked, “What do you think?

Do you like it?”

“…”

Cheng Xi finally pulled her focus together to look at her ‘nest’.

It was a square, pink, little castle.

Judging by its appearance, the craftsmanship was exquisite, and it looked sturdy and durable.

If this were for playing house, this little house would be great.

It had windows and doors, all very miniature.

But calling it a ‘nest’ made the whole thing feel incredibly awkward!

‘There are so many rooms in this castle.

Can’t I just sleep in a normal bed?’

‘Whatever.

I’m a pet now, after all.’ This nest was clearly custom-made for her.

The space inside wasn’t huge, but it was enough for sleeping.

She could stand up inside without her head quite touching the ceiling.

With great reluctance, she gave a nod.

Her less-than-thrilled expression made Hotte raise an eyebrow slightly.

It seemed his little pet wasn’t too satisfied with this nest.

“It’s okay if you don’t like it. I’ll let you pick one you like another day. For tonight, just make do.”

Cheng Xi grunted in acknowledgment but gave no further reaction.

Only then did Mary and Mani, who were standing to the side, realize something was off.

The human pet could actually understand their Lord’s words!

Mani couldn’t help but ask, “My Lord, the human pet seems to understand you.

But this afternoon, she couldn’t understand anything Mary and I said.”

Hotte explained, “The collar on her neck is a translator.

With it on, she can understand our language, but she still can’t communicate with us.”

Mani had a moment of realization.

“Oh, so that’s how it is. I had no idea human pet translators existed now. That’s really something.”

Mary was also amazed, thinking to herself, ‘As expected of the Lord.

We’ve never even heard of this kind of translator, let alone seen one for sale on the market.’

‘Perhaps only the nobility can afford them.’

Hotte had no intention of explaining further.

He only said, “The human pet’s name is Cheng Xi. You are all females, so take good care of her from now on.”

The two nodded.

“We understand, My Lord.”

“Mm, you may go.”

“Yes, My Lord.” The two of them had entered empty-handed, but they left a pile of things behind.

Including a quilt and mattress, some accessories…

and toys?

Toys?

With a strange expression, Cheng Xi picked up a rattle-drum from the pile.

She shook it, and it made a crisp DONG DONG sound, pretty much the same as the ones on Earth!

‘So childish.

Why did they get me this stuff?’

Hotte thought she was interested and said, “These are all things you humans like.

You can put them all in your nest.”

“…” Cheng Xi complained inwardly, ‘How on earth could he tell I liked them?’

‘Oh well.

I guess it’s normal to have a gap between species.’

Then her Alien master got busy, moving her nest against the wall.

The little castle wasn’t exactly small, but seeing how easily he moved it, she couldn’t help but wonder, ‘It can’t be made of cardboard, can it?’

‘It won’t fall over while I’m sleeping, will it?’

Hotte secured the nest, then turned back and said, “This will be its spot for now.

From now on, it’s yours.

Put your things away first, and in a bit, I’ll teach you about the basics of daily life here.”

“Oh.”

Cheng Xi gave an obedient reply and then started organizing the pile of miscellaneous items.

The quilt and mattress just needed to be laid out.

The main issue was the pile of useless toys and accessories.

Luckily, the seller had included a storage box.

She put everything into the box and casually placed it outside the little nest.

Her casual manner made Hotte vaguely realize that she didn’t actually like these things very much.

‘His little pet is very interesting.’

After she finished organizing, Hotte personally taught her some of the basics, like how to open doors, where to get drinking water, how to use the toilet, and so on.

Human pets were different from other pets.

Humans possessed a certain degree of self-sufficiency, and their intelligence was higher than that of other creatures.

In some ways, aside from their physical fragility and lack of a second form, humans were no different from the Rabbit Star People.

After following her Alien master on a tour of the castle, Cheng Xi’s bare feet were rubbed raw.

She didn’t understand.

They knew to give her clothes, so why not shoes?

For over a month since being brought to Outer Space, she had been locked in a room similar to a bedroom.

It had a bathroom, and someone would bring her food and clean clothes at set times every day.
