The furry spider that had been flung away: “…”
‘I’ve been thrown away for the second time today.
So unfair…
*whimper*…’
Mao Mao listlessly scrabbled around with its eight legs before finally crawling up the wall.
Hiding in her nest, Cheng Xi knew the giant spider was still outside.
She didn’t dare leave, not even to use the bathroom.
The rumbling of her stomach was a testament to her miserable state.
Fortunately, she hadn’t been forgotten by her mean-spirited master.
About a few minutes later, Hotte returned.
He opened the gate to her “castle” and, to Cheng Xi’s astonishment, took hold of her foot.
“Wh-what are you doing?”
Hotte crouched outside her small nest, his commanding golden eyes fixed on her.
“Don’t move. Once I put this medicine on, your foot won’t hurt anymore.”
‘Oh, it’s medicine.’
Cheng Xi stopped resisting and let him apply the medicine to her foot.
The palm of his hand was very warm, and the heat spread cozily to her foot.
Although the temperature was mild, walking around barefoot always made her feet cold, which often upset her stomach.
‘His hand is like a heating pad.
He’s actually surprisingly nice, even thinking to get me medicine.’
Cheng Xi’s feelings were now a complicated mess, too tangled to put into words.
On the one hand, they were evil—invaders who had robbed humanity of life and liberty.
Yet, he didn’t seem so terrible.
For over a month, she hadn’t been harmed at all.
In fact, the people here had taken meticulous care of her.
‘What on earth do they want?’
She was so lost in thought that she didn’t realize she had been staring at him for a long time, only flusteredly looking away when she saw the teasing glint in his eyes.
But then, another thought struck her, and she snapped her head back, looking him up and down.
‘Nothing.
There’s really nothing!’
“What are you looking at?” As he spoke, he flicked her on the forehead.
He must have intentionally held back, as she only felt a slight sting.
Cheng Xi clutched her forehead, her scrutinizing gaze retreating.
‘Strange.
Other Aliens have beast-like features.
How come he doesn’t have any?
He’s just like a normal human male!’
‘Can Aliens just reveal their features when they want and hide them when they don’t?’
‘Whatever.
It’s not like I really care.
Let them be.’
The medicine now applied, Cheng Xi pulled her foot back.
Getting no answer, Hotte frowned slightly.
Just a little walking and your feet can’t take it.”
“Give me your foot.
I’ll measure it, then I’ll buy you some shoes.”
At his words, Cheng Xi’s eyes lit up.
‘Thank God,’ she thought.
Hotte simply used his hand to measure her foot, and Cheng Xi realized it wasn’t even as big as his hand.
‘And I’m a size seven, for crying out loud.’
After measuring, he placed an order.
About half an hour later, a pile of shoes was delivered to the castle.
Now that she had shoes, Cheng Xi could finally go down to eat.
Her meal was the same as always: a bowl of thick, viscous goo.
Perhaps because she was so hungry, it wasn’t as hard to get down today.
As a pet, she had nothing to do after eating her fill.
No one restricted her movements, so she was free to wander the castle.
“Sigh.”
Cheng Xi rested her head on the dining table, bored.
Her thoughts drifted to learning the language.
With the translator, she could try to learn the Alien tongue.
‘After all, I can’t rely on a translator for the rest of my life.
What if it breaks?
What if they stop making them?’
She already had prospective teachers in mind: Mary Mani.
The two Lady Rabbits seemed to love talking, so it shouldn’t be too hard to learn from them.
Decision made, she set out to find them.
But just as she slid off her chair, she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.
She turned around stiffly.
The furry spider was back!
It was staring intently at her.
Cheng Xi’s face paled, and she swallowed nervously.
“D-don’t you come any closer!”
“I don’t want to play with you! Go find someone else!”
Obviously, Mao Mao didn’t understand a word she said.
It continued to creep toward its “little friend,” even holding back its silk to show how friendly it was.
The other party involved, however, didn’t see it that way.
Cheng Xi backed away, on the verge of tears.
This was too much for her to handle!
“Stay away! Is anyone going to get this thing?!”
Just as the furry spider was about to touch her, Cheng Xi turned and fled in a desperate panic.
It pursued, she fled.
The human and the spider were locked in a great chase across the castle.
The castle echoed with the sound of THUMP-THUMP-THUMPING up the stairs and THUMP-THUMP-THUMPING back down…
Mani Mary, busy with their work, couldn’t help but comment, “The Master’s new pet is so lively. Look how much fun they’re having~”
‘If Cheng Xi could hear them, she would have started swearing like a sailor.
Who the fuck is having fun?!’
‘Can’t you see I’m about to die of fright?!’
But Cheng Xi heard nothing.
She was too busy frantically dodging the giant spider.
When she truly couldn’t run another step, she had no choice but to lock herself in the bathroom to catch her breath.
She wasn’t rescued until Mary Mani came to get her for dinner.
She thought she could finally rest, but when it was time to eat, the furry spider was there with her!
“Cheng Xi, this is for you,” Mary said, handing her a bowl of food.
Meanwhile, Mani brought a dish of insects over to the giant spider’s mouth.
“This is for you, Mao Mao.”
Mao Mao affectionately nuzzled the palm of Mani’s hand, making her smile.
After its morning exercise, Mao Mao was starving.
It opened its maw and devoured a fist-sized beetle in one bite.
“Good boy, Mao Mao,” Mani said.
“You know, Cheng Xi, it used to be so lonely in the castle with just Mao Mao.
It’s much more lively now that you’re here.”
Cheng Xi: “…” ‘Lively?
I don’t think so,’ she thought with a bitter laugh.
‘You’re just enjoying the drama from the sidelines, but I’m the one who’s a nervous wreck.’
To the two Aliens, the sight of the furry spider eating was completely mundane.
For her, however, it was a scalp-tingling nightmare.
Even though it was eating quietly and not moving, she didn’t dare look at it.
The sight of its cluster of eyes and bizarrely structured mouth was enough to make her physically ill!
Thankfully, she was eating at the table while it ate on the floor.
Cheng Xi shoveled down the rest of her food and fled as if her life depended on it.
She planned to go back to her nest and lie down, but who would have guessed that the well-fed Mao Mao would follow her!
It was safe to say that aside from mealtimes, there hadn’t been a moment’s peace between the human and the spider all day.
By the time Hotte returned that evening, Cheng Xi was completely exhausted.
Still, her nerves were stretched taut, and she didn’t dare sleep, because the giant spider was still in her room!
Cheng Xi finally snapped.
She rushed up to Hotte, gesturing frantically.
“Can you please make it go away? I’ll be scared to death if it stays here!”
She pointed at Mao Mao, then at the door, and made a walking gesture with two of her fingers.
Hotte pretended to be trying to decipher her gestures, but in reality, he understood human language perfectly.
‘But he had no intention of telling his little pet that.
This was much more fun, wasn’t it?’
He stroked his chin, pretending to mull it over.
“You mean you want Mao Mao to leave?”
Cheng Xi nodded frantically.
“Yes, yes!”
