The warm bowl rested carefully in Mira’s hands while she stood outside apartment 506.

For some reason— her heartbeat refused to calm down.

Maybe because this was their first proper interaction after months of awkward silence.Full novel: WHEN SEOUL FELT LIKE HOME — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Or maybe— because somewhere deep inside, she still felt embarrassed about that night.

The misunderstanding.

The fear.

The awkwardness afterward.

Taking a small breath, Mira finally pressed the doorbell.

Inside apartment 506— the sound instantly made all three men pause.

Hoseok looked up first.

“…Did someone order extra food?”

“We already ordered food,” Yejun replied immediately.

The bell rang once again softly.

For one brief second— all three exchanged confused looks.

Honestly— none of them were expecting anyone.

Yejun quietly stood up from the couch.

Meanwhile outside—

Mira stood nervously holding the bowl with both hands while mentally regretting every decision that brought her here.

It was literally just food.

The sound of footsteps approaching made her straighten immediately.

Inside—

Yejun casually looked through the small door viewer.

And froze.

The neighbor girl.

Standing outside his apartment carefully holding a bowl in her hands.

For one brief second— genuine surprise crossed his face.

Because this was the last person he expected to see standing outside his door.

Then suddenly— another realization hit him.

She listens to SEVYN songs.

What if she recognizes him immediately?

Idol life had made caution natural over the years.

Not because he disliked fans— but because sudden situations like these could become uncomfortable for normal people too.

Behind him, Junho noticed Yejun’s expression change slightly.

Curiosity immediately appeared in his eyes.

Before either he or Hoseok could move closer—

Yejun quickly grabbed a cap and mask lying nearby.

“Hyung?” Hoseok whispered suspiciously.

“Stay inside for a minute,” Yejun muttered quietly while pulling the cap lower.

Junho immediately understood.

And somehow— that made him even more curious about the girl outside.

After taking one small breath—

Yejun finally opened the door.

Outside—

Mira blinked slightly in confusion.

The person standing in front of her wore a black cap pulled low and a mask covering most of his face.

she found it slightly strange.

Still— she smiled politely.

“Hi…”

Yejun lowered his voice slightly before replying softly—

“Yeah… hi.”

For a moment— both stood there awkwardly.

Then Mira immediately remembered why she came.

“Actually…” she started nervously.

“I prepared something from my hometown.”

She slowly lifted the bowl a little.

“And… I just wanted to share.”

Yejun quietly looked toward the bowl in her hands.

Meanwhile Mira continued softly—

“And also… I wanted to apologize properly.”

Inside the apartment—

Hoseok quietly moved closer in curiosity while Junho remained standing near the kitchen silently listening.

Meanwhile outside—

Mira nervously adjusted her grip on the bowl.

“That day…” she continued awkwardly.

“When we first met… I think I created a misunderstanding.”

Yejun stayed quiet.

And somehow— his silence made her speak even more honestly.

“My company had sent me for a general medical check-up since I was new here.”

Yejun listened quietly.

“They had done an eye check-up too… and because of the drops they used, my vision stayed blurry for almost four hours.”

A small embarrassed laugh escaped her.

“So honestly… I couldn’t even see you properly that night.”

For one second—

Yejun remembered the terrified expression from that night again.

Then softly—

Mira added,

“I think I got scared before even understanding the situation properly.”

That unknowingly made a small smile appear behind Yejun’s mask.

Finally— he spoke quietly.

“It’s okay.”

His voice remained softer than usual intentionally.

“It was partly my mistake too.”

Mira looked slightly surprised.

“I shouldn’t have scared you that night.”

For one brief second— their eyes met properly.

And strangely— the awkwardness between them softened a little.

Mira smiled faintly before shaking her head quickly.

“No no… it was my mistake actually.”

Silence settled between them afterward.

Not uncomfortable.

Then suddenly remembering the bowl again, Mira quickly held it forward.

“This is halwa… from my hometown.”

Her smile became softer this time.

“I hope you like it.”

Yejun slowly accepted the bowl from her hands.

The warmth still lingered slightly against his fingers.

And somehow— that tiny warmth felt strangely real.

Meanwhile inside the apartment—

Junho quietly watched from a distance without stepping closer.

A strange relief settled inside him seeing the misunderstanding finally disappear.

And yet— something about the scene stayed in his mind longer than expected.

Outside—

Mira suddenly realized she had been standing there too long.

Immediately embarrassed again, she stepped back quickly.

“And… I’m really sorry again for that day.”

Yejun shook his head softly.

“It’s fine….Thank you for this.”

A small awkward smile appeared on Mira’s lips before she turned slightly to leave.

But then suddenly— she paused.

“Oh… and I’m Mira.”

For one second—

Yejun quietly looked at her.

Mira.

The name somehow suited her softness strangely well.

“I’m your next-door neighbor.”

That instantly made both of them almost laugh softly at the unnecessary introduction.

As if they hadn’t already unknowingly become part of each other’s everyday life months ago.

Still—

Yejun nodded softly.

And for some reason— that tiny exchange felt more meaningful than it should have.

A small awkward smile appeared on Mira’s face again before she finally turned around hurriedly.

“Okay then… bye.”

And before her embarrassment could increase further— she quickly disappeared back inside apartment 507.

The door closed softly behind her.

Silence settled again in the hallway.

Meanwhile—

Yejun remained standing there for a few extra seconds holding the warm bowl quietly in his hands.

The misunderstanding had finally disappeared.

Everything should have felt normal now.

Simple.

Finished.

Yet strangely— something unexplainable still lingered quietly inside his chest.

And for the first time— the familiar wall between apartment 506 and 507 no longer felt distant at all.

Others arrive quietly— through misunderstandings, small apologies, and moments hidden behind masks.

And sometimes… before hearts understand what they’re feeling, they simply begin remembering someone a little too often.
