The large patches of skin on her back and chest were red beyond reason, covered in dense little spots.

Lin Yuyi’s heart ached at the sight.

Su Mo wiped away her tears, pulled her hand from his grasp, and spoke coldly,

“I’m tired. I want to sleep for a while.”

Lin Yuyi knew her temper too well once her mood turned sour, no one could persuade her.

“Then wait for me, Momo. I’ll be right back.”

He hurried out the door and ran into Zhang Lanhua, who had just returned from showing off outside.

“Hey, it’s almost dinner time. Where are you going?”

“Stay and eat later.”

Lin Yuyi’s emotions were irritable.

“Mom, I can meet your conditions. I only hope that from now on you’ll treat Momo better.”

“Don’t let her suffer even the slightest grievance again. She’s the woman I want to cherish with all my heart for the rest of my life!”

Zhang Lanhua was baffled by his outburst.

She herself didn’t understand why her usually obedient, filial son kept quarreling with her over Su Mo something that had never happened before.

Dissatisfaction filled her heart.

She was a simple woman with no hidden thoughts; whatever displeased her showed plainly on her face.

She was about to ask Su Mo whether she and Lin Yuyi had argued, but when she entered the room, she saw the allergic rash on Su Mo’s skin.

“Oh my, Momo, what’s wrong with you?”

Su Mo said nothing.

What was wrong? Wasn’t it all thanks to Zhang Lanhua?

Zhang Lanhua looked around and saw the wedding dress tossed onto the ground, already covered in dust.

Her heart ached for it.

“Momo, you should take better care of things. This wedding dress cost a lot of money how can you just throw it on the floor like that?”

“Ah…”

With a sigh, Zhang Lanhua left the room.

Soon it was dinner time.

Relatives and neighbors came asking.

“Where’s your daughter-in-law? Why isn’t she coming out to eat?”

“Hey, your son’s gone too. Did the young couple sneak off to eat something nice?”

Zhang Lanhua snorted.

She had come out of Su Mo’s room with a dark expression, clearly unhappy.

“She’s too delicate. Just wearing a piece of clothing and she gives herself an allergy. I think instead of enjoying good fortune in the future,

I’ll just be suffering anger.”

An aunt kindly advised,

“She’s been pampered since childhood, unlike people here. Don’t be too harsh on her.”

Zhang Lanhua crossed her arms.

“Harsh? Am I the kind of evil mother-in-law?”

“Even if I wanted to be, my youngest son wouldn’t allow it!”

Just then, Lin Yuyi returned after being gone for over an hour.

“Yao’er ” Zhang Lanhua hurried forward to call him.

But Lin Yuyi ignored her.

Right now, his eyes and heart held only Su Mo.

He knew how serious her allergies could be.

He refused to let her suffer even a little more.

He had bought food and medicine.

This time, whether Su Mo responded to him or not, he forced her to take the medicine and personally applied the ointment.

Still, Su Mo ignored him not saying a single word, not even willing to eat.

The two remained locked in this painful stalemate.

Now Zhang Lanhua grew anxious.

She couldn’t understand how simply wearing a wedding dress and taking photos could cause such trouble.

The banquet was set for a week later.

Su Mo and Lin Yuyi had only three days of vacation left.

The date had been decided without consulting Su Mo.

So when Su Mo learned of it the next morning, the anger that had half-faded clogged her chest again.

She couldn’t leave.

She could only call her company to request leave but Zhang Lanhua directly opposed it.

“Momo, why don’t you just quit your job and stay home to rest?”

“Your body is a bit weak.”

Su Mo’s worldview was truly shaken.

What gave Zhang Lanhua the confidence to say such words so righteously?

The anger she had held in all night finally burst.

Even with years of self-cultivation, she had endured enough.

“Mom, can you not interfere in my work?”

“How is this interfering? Isn’t my son’s salary enough to support you? You’re just a young girl working outside is exhausting. There’s no need to show your face out there.”

Su Mo was completely speechless.

What era was this now?

Why was Zhang Lanhua’s mind still filled with the old generation’s thinking?

Lin Yuyi said softly,

“Mom, stop talking.”

“Momo isn’t feeling well. Can’t you say a little less?”

Once again, Su Mo barely ate anything at the meal.

In just a day or two here, the effect was stronger than any diet she’d ever tried she had grown noticeably thinner.

If Qin Hui knew about this, with her fiery temper she would definitely take Su Mo away without a word.

So Su Mo couldn’t let her know.

Perhaps this was the first step of marriage learning how to resolve all kinds of conflicts in daily life.

For two whole days, Su Mo and Lin Yuyi remained in a cold standoff.

Neither spoke.

Su Mo didn’t want to speak.

Lin Yuyi didn’t dare to.

Until one night, Su Mo’s stomach pain became unbearable.

But the rural toilet was pitch-black and in terrible condition.

Looking at the darkness outside she usually endured at night if she could, but now she couldn’t anymore.

Probably because Zhang Lanhua had used too much chili these past two days, her stomach felt extremely uncomfortable.

She slowly groped her way up from the bed.

Lin Yuyi, lying beside her, heard the movement and immediately turned on the light, worry on his face.

“Where are you going, Momo?”

Su Mo said nothing, walking in the remembered direction.

But before she reached it

Lin Yuyi, obediently following behind, suddenly heard a sharp scream.

“Ah!”

The cry sounded especially loud in the night.

“Momo! Momo!”

He rushed forward and pulled her into his arms.

Frightened, Su Mo immediately leaned against him.

Whether from fear or grievance she burst into tears.

“Waaah…”

It was as if she wanted to cry out all the grievances of the past two days.

“Lin Yuyi, you jerk! You bastard!”

“Yes, I’m a jerk, a bastard. Hit me if you want it’s my fault. I made you suffer.”

Su Mo cried for a long time.

Her eyes had been swollen for days, never resting as if she might cry herself blind.

Hearing the noise, Zhang Lanhua came over and discovered it was only a mouse that had frightened Su Mo badly.

She was about to comment on Su Mo’s delicacy when Lin Yuyi spoke first.

“Mom, go back. Momo isn’t feeling well. Don’t say anything more.”

Now Zhang Lanhua was truly angry.

She grabbed the fire tongs and killed the mouse, as if venting her frustration.

Even the way she shut the door was unusually loud.

Inside the room, Su Mo asked worriedly:

“You’re not afraid of making your mom angry now?”
