Bai Qing’s eyes immediately lit up, and she shyly glanced toward Lin Yuyi.

Lin Yuyi walked over to her awkwardly. “Xiaoqing, didn’t you say you live nearby?”

“Oh, it’s fine.”

Rejected directly by Lin Yuyi, Bai Qing pretended to look relaxed.

“Auntie, I’ll head off first. I’ll come visit you another time when I’m free.”

She had only taken a few steps when Zhang Lanhua, furious, pushed Lin Yuyi out the door.

“What’s wrong with you, child? It’s dangerous for a young girl to go home alone at night hurry up and send her back.”

“If I find out you didn’t send Xiaoqing home, just see how I deal with you.”

Lin Yuyi grew irritated from Zhang Lanhua’s scolding. He hadn’t seen Momo all evening, and his mind was full of her.

Forget it he would just listen to his mother and send Bai Qing home first.

Bai Qing hadn’t gone far, and Lin Yuyi caught up to her in a few steps.

“Xiaoqing, wait for me.”

Hearing her name called, joy immediately filled her heart. She quickly turned around, brushing her hair to check if it was messy.

“Ah… Yuyi, were you calling me?”

When Lin Yuyi strode up to her, Bai Qing lowered her head, lightly pushed his chest, and smiled mischievously.

“Did Auntie drive you out? She scolded you, didn’t she?”

“It’s okay, really. You should go find your little girlfriend.”

Hearing this, Lin Yuyi felt grateful for Bai Qing’s understanding.

“Then how about I walk you nearby? Consider it a thank-you.”

“Alright, alright whatever Young Master Lin says.”

Bai Qing didn’t sit in the front passenger seat. She didn’t want her feelings to seem too obvious, so she sat in the back.

At a glance, she saw several very cute cartoon words stuck on the passenger seat:

“Momo Baby’s Exclusive Seat.”

“Oh my, Yuyi I didn’t expect you to dote on your girlfriend this much?”

At the mention of Su Mo, Lin Yuyi couldn’t stop smiling. “Momo… she’s just like a little girl.”

“I have no choice but to spoil her.”

Sitting in the back, Bai Qing listened as every sentence he spoke revolved around Su Mo, every word praising her. The jealousy in her heart grew stronger.

Back when they were still in the village, Bai Qing had liked Lin Yuyi.

But at the time, she longed to see the outside world and felt that someone like Lin Yuyi who could only inherit farmland had no real future.

It was she who rejected Lin Yuyi when he confessed his feelings back then.

If she had known he would one day succeed in a place like Shencheng, Bai Qing would never have let this “potential stock” slip away.

While she was thinking, Lin Yuyi had already pulled the car over.

“Xiaoqing, we’re here.”

“Xiaoqing, we’re here?”

“Xiaoqing!”

After being called several times, she finally came back to her senses.

“Oh oh, sorry. I was just thinking about something.”

Lin Yuyi didn’t mind. “It’s fine. Then head back. If anything comes up, call me.”

“Okay.”

After closing the car door and watching his car disappear into the distance, Bai Qing thought of his polite words.

But she didn’t take them as mere politeness.

If something happened, she really would go looking for him.

Meanwhile, Lin Yuyi, who hadn’t gone far, was about to call Su Mo but after searching everywhere, he couldn’t find his phone.

Only then did he realize he must have left it at the hotel.

He hurried back. Zhang Lanhua still hadn’t gone to sleep and was staring at the washing machine, unsure how to use it.

“Mom? What are you doing?” Lin Yuyi asked worriedly, seeing water still on her hands as she reached for the power switch.

“Mom, don’t touch that be careful of electric shock.”

Zhang Lanhua immediately became annoyed.

“This big city may be nice, but it doesn’t suit an old woman like me.”

“Oh right, Yao’er Momo called you just now. I answered it.”

Hearing this, Lin Yuyi’s heart jumped to his throat, afraid his mother might have ruined things.

“Mom, you didn’t say anything, did you?”

Zhang Lanhua waved her hand. “What could I say? I just told the truth I said you were sending Xiaoqing home.”

Instantly, it felt like lightning struck Lin Yuyi. His whole body went numb.

Sending Bai Qing home so late at night who knew what kind of story his precious Su Mo’s imagination might create?

“Mom, are you trying to break me and Su Mo apart?”

At the mention of Su Mo, Zhang Lanhua already dissatisfied with the sky-high bride price pulled him down to sit.

“Come, tell Mom properly what does Xiaoqing lack compared to that Momo?”

“Besides, it’s dangerous for Xiaoqing to go home alone at night. What’s wrong with you sending her?”

Lin Yuyi raised his hand to stop her.

“Mom, I’m telling you seriously.”

“I love Momo very much. In this life, she’s the only one I’ll marry.”

“If you want me to be with that Xiaoqing impossible.”

“Mom, don’t force me to do something even I can’t control.”

Lin Yuyi had never spoken harshly to Zhang Lanhua before, never even shown her a cold face.

This was the first time she had seen her usually obedient son defy her for a woman.

At once, Zhang Lanhua felt she had raised an ungrateful son.

Her dissatisfaction toward Su Mo deepened.

“All because of that Momo she’s the reason my son won’t listen to me.”

These were the complaints Zhang Lanhua poured out to Bai Qing.

Single-mindedly focused on Su Mo, Lin Yuyi hurried to the residential complex below her building.

But Su Mo refused to answer his calls, and so late at night he didn’t want to make a scene between the two families.

He could only sleep in his car in the parking lot downstairs.

Early the next morning, with dark circles under his eyes, Lin Yuyi brought breakfast and waited at Su Mo’s door.

When Su Mo opened the door and saw the darkness beneath his eyes, she felt both angry and heartbroken.

“I don’t want to see you.”

She started to close the door.

“Momo, will you listen to my explanation, please?”

It was seven in the morning. Su Mo’s parents were usually out for morning exercise, and with no one home, Lin Yuyi was almost ready to kneel and beg forgiveness.

“Momo, my good Momo, eat something before you stay mad at me, okay?”

“My little ancestor.”

Blocked at the doorway, Lin Yuyi said every soft word he could.

Only after half an hour did Su Mo let him inside.

“Explain.”

Su Mo sat far away, hands on her hips.

Very familiarly, Lin Yuyi grabbed a cushion and placed it on the floor and really knelt down.

“Wife, I was wrong.”

That single word, “wife,” made Su Mo’s heart feel sweet.

But thinking of what happened last night, her smile froze again.

“Lin Yuyi, you’ve got some nerve hanging up on my call and even sending another woman home in the middle of the night.”

“If you dare do that again, believe it or not, I’ll have another man send me home!”
