Lin Xiaojin hurriedly bowed. “Thank you! Thank you, CEO Qin.”

No matter how unpredictable Qin Ge’s moods were, or how he sometimes deliberately took advantage of her, the meal card in her hands could genuinely improve her life.

With this card, she would no longer have to fill her stomach with desserts and milk tea every day. Her health would gradually improve as well. Perhaps she could even hold on for a few more years.Full novel: Who Told Him to Be the Main Villain? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

More importantly, the restaurant allowed food to be packed for takeout. She could bring the meals home and share them with her mother. That would save her the time she usually spent cooking, and perhaps she could use those extra hours to take on another part-time job and earn a little more money.

After Lin Xiaojin left the office, Qin Ge leisurely picked up his phone and glanced at the several unread messages.

They were all from Jiang Yingxue, sent three hours ago.

Jiang Yingxue had written, “Qin Ge, come to Yunshan Villa. My grandma is here, and she specifically asked to see you. Hurry up.”

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Qin Ge’s lips. “The key person who can turn the situation around has finally appeared!”

It was obvious that Jiang Yingxue did not have much affection for him. The only reason she and his predecessor had become a couple in the first place was because Jiang Yingxue’s grandmother had brought them together.

Now, however, Qin Ge had already broken up with Jiang Yingxue. There was no possibility of him taking the initiative to seek her out.

That was precisely why her grandmother’s presence was so important. She was the perfect mediator between the two of them.

His proposal had failed?

Fine.

Then he would mess with Jiang Yingxue’s head instead!

Qin Ge typed out a message and returned the same treatment she had given him before, “???”

In a rare occurrence, Jiang Yingxue replied almost instantly, “What do you mean by sending three question marks? Hurry up and get over here! I can’t handle Grandma much longer!”

She quickly sent another message, “Qin Ge, whatever happened between us, we can calm down and talk it through slowly. Can we just get through this situation with my grandma first?”

Qin Ge simply turned off his phone screen and left Jiang Yingxue hanging.

“Yingzi!”

At Qin Ge’s shout, Qiao Yingzi quickly pushed open the door and entered. She asked curiously, “CEO Qin, were you looking for me?”

Qin Ge nodded. “Have you found me a place to live yet?”

There was no way he would continue living at the Qin Family Estate. As for hotels, they were only suitable as temporary places to stay.

What he truly needed was a private base that belonged entirely to him.

Qiao Yingzi nodded. “CEO Qin, your aunt heard that you were looking for a place to live, so she has already purchased an estate for you in Yunhai City.”

…

At Yunshan Villa, Jiang Yingxue’s residence, an elderly woman with silver hair and a kindly face sat on the sofa. However, her expression was stern, making the wrinkles on her face seem even deeper.

Her dissatisfaction grew as she continued, “How many times have I told you that you need to change that temper of yours? Qin Ge treats you so well. Can’t you feel it? He’s human too. He has his own personality and his own temper.”

Old Madam Wang’s expression became increasingly stern. “Are you really so selfish that you don’t care about Qin Ge’s feelings at all?”

Meanwhile, Jiang Yingxue was hiding in the dining room, gripping her phone tightly as frustration made her grit her teeth.

That bastard Qin Ge had actually waited three whole hours before replying to her message.

Worse yet, he had only sent three enormous question marks.

And then he ignored her!

In the past, Qin Ge had always replied to her messages instantly. Meanwhile, even when Jiang Yingxue saw his messages, she sometimes refused to respond simply because she was in a bad mood.

Now Qin Ge was actually giving her the same treatment?

Could that guy really be serious about breaking up with her?

She did not believe he had the courage.

Even less did she believe that Qin Ge could truly bear to leave her.

He was obviously just playing hard to get.

Bastard!

Even if he wanted to throw a tantrum, why did he have to choose now of all times?

After silently cursing him, Jiang Yingxue hurried back into the living room. She sat beside her grandmother and wrapped an arm around hers, saying helplessly, “Grandma, Qin Ge is really busy with work. He probably can’t get away anytime soon.”

Jiang Yingxue coaxed her gently, “Why don’t you go back first? Once Qin Ge is free, the two of us can visit you together.”

Old Madam Wang snorted. “If Qin Ge is really too busy to come, then what were you hiding in the dining room for?”

She stretched out her hand. “If the two of you haven’t had a fight, give Grandma your phone. I’d like to see exactly how you’ve been talking to Qin Ge.”

Jiang Yingxue instinctively stuffed her phone into her bag and forced an awkward smile. “Grandma, young people have their own privacy too.”

“Privacy?” Old Madam Wang immediately understood what was going on. She scolded with bitter disappointment, “Jiang Yingxue, I think Qin Ge has spoiled you so much that you’ve become arrogant and taken his affection for granted. You’ve never truly taken Qin Ge seriously!”

Her anger rose further. “Now you’ve made Qin Ge angry, and he doesn’t even want to come see an old woman like me anymore!”

Old Madam Wang’s breathing suddenly became heavy and rapid.

Her frail, withered body began trembling slightly. Even the arm she raised started shaking violently.

Her breathing became increasingly labored.

Jiang Yingxue’s face instantly went pale with fear. She hurriedly stroked her grandmother’s chest and cried anxiously, “Grandma, don’t be angry! Please don’t scare me!”

Her grandmother’s health had always been poor. Even after entering a nursing facility and receiving treatment from renowned doctors, there had been little improvement.

She was simply too old. The various organs in her body had already begun to deteriorate.

Whenever she imagined that her grandmother might someday leave her forever, fear seized her heart so fiercely that she could barely control her trembling.

“Water… water!” Old Madam Wang gasped as she tried to reach for the glass on the coffee table.

Jiang Yingxue hurriedly picked it up and brought it to her grandmother.

Old Madam Wang pulled a large handful of capsules from her bag, stuffed them into her mouth, and swallowed them with water.

Only after a full minute did her violently trembling body gradually calm down.

By then, Jiang Yingxue’s forehead was drenched in cold sweat. She anxiously said, “Grandma, I’m taking you to the hospital. We’re going right now.”

Old Madam Wang stubbornly shook her head. “I’m not going!”

She firmly declared, “I’m staying right here today. If I don’t see Qin Ge, I’m not going anywhere!”

How could she, as Jiang Yingxue’s grandmother, not understand her granddaughter’s personality?

Jiang Yingxue had simply relied too much on Qin Ge’s love for her and had begun taking his affection for granted.

Now she had finally angered Qin Ge to the point that he no longer wanted to see her.

If Old Madam Wang did not give her granddaughter a push now, perhaps Jiang Yingxue and Qin Ge really would end up saying goodbye forever.

Old Madam Wang continued, “If he’s busy with work, I’ll go to Weixue Group with you. We can wait until Qin Ge gets off work, then the three of us can have a meal together.”

She truly adored Qin Ge.

She was also worried that her granddaughter would say the wrong thing and make matters worse, so she intended to personally intervene.

Jiang Yingxue hurriedly shook her head. “Grandma, just wait here at home. I’ll go bring Qin Ge back.”

She knew her grandmother’s temperament far too well. Once the old woman became stubborn, there was no changing her mind.

If she did not see Qin Ge today, she absolutely would not let the matter go.

More importantly, Jiang Yingxue had no idea how many hours the medicine would remain effective. If its effects wore off before Qin Ge arrived, she was genuinely terrified that something might happen to her grandmother.

After calming her grandmother down, Jiang Yingxue hurriedly drove toward Weixue Group.

When she arrived downstairs, she happened to see workers changing the display on the company’s large LED screen. The old name had been replaced by four gleaming golden characters, “Qin Yun Tiancheng.”

However, Jiang Yingxue had neither the time nor the mood to care about that.

She quickly entered the elevator and went straight to the floor where the Chairman’s office was located.

Under the watchful eyes of Qin Yun Tiancheng’s employees, Jiang Yingxue did not even bother knocking. She pushed the door open and walked directly into Qin Ge’s office.

Behind the desk, Lin Xiaojin was eating rice.

Hearing the sudden commotion, she instinctively raised her head.

Jiang Yingxue’s beautiful, scrutinizing eyes instantly met Lin Xiaojin’s large, bewildered ones.

Their gazes collided fiercely in midair.
