“Alright, I understand,” Song Ziyan nodded.
The punch was not very serious. After getting some painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicine, she left the infirmary.
There was one elective class in the afternoon. After school in the evening, Xiao Chen was still tutoring Song Ziyan.
“Is Xiao Chen in this class?” a voice came from the doorway.
“Xiao Chen, someone’s looking for you,” a classmate in the front called out.
Xiao Chen looked up in confusion and saw that it was Li Mingyu.
“What do you want?” Xiao Chen walked out, puzzled.
It had only been a few days, yet Li Mingyu seemed like a completely different person. He used to look neat and sharp, always caring about his appearance. Now his eye sockets were sunken, his eyes lifeless, and he had not shaved for several days. He looked sickly, almost like a heavy addict.
“Xiao Chen, I… I shouldn’t have ignored your advice. Beifang Timber’s stock has hit the limit down for four consecutive days,” Li Mingyu said.
He took out a cigarette, then realized they were at school and put it back.
“The source of imported raw materials was hit by a pest infestation. Production dropped, and Beifang Timber can’t fulfill its export orders.”
Xiao Chen looked at him with sympathy and said, “So a sharp drop in the stock price was inevitable.”
“I really regret not listening to you. In the past few days, I’ve lost more than 700,000 from my principal,” Li Mingyu said painfully, his eyes bloodshot.
“So what do you want to do?” Xiao Chen asked.
“I want to ask you, should I cut my losses and sell now, or hold on and wait for it to rise again?” Li Mingyu looked at Xiao Chen as if asking for help.
“I’m just a high school student. You graduated from a top university’s finance department, and you’re asking me?” Xiao Chen said in surprise.
“I trust you,” Li Mingyu replied with only four words.
“You’re different from other people. An ordinary high school student wouldn’t understand stocks, nor would they have your sharp insight,” Li Mingyu said firmly.
“Since you put it that way, I advise you to cut your losses in time,” Xiao Chen said. “It’s not just Beifang Timber. The entire rosewood furniture industry is about to suffer a major blow.”
“But rosewood furniture is very popular overseas. The export rate has been rising sharply,” Li Mingyu said, almost in despair.
“In my prediction, the pest infestation is only the first step,” Xiao Chen said subtly. “A typhoon is coming soon. As far as I know, a cargo ship loaded with rosewood furniture has already set sail. If something happens to that ship because of the typhoon, what do you think that would mean for the entire timber sector in the stock market?” New chapters come out on NovelPing first.
“That would be a devastating disaster,” Li Mingyu froze for a moment.
“So sell in time. Don’t fixate on this one stock,” Xiao Chen said.
That ship would sink within the next few days. When that happened, listed companies in the rosewood sector would face a real shock.
“Alright, I’ll sell. I’ll sell immediately,” Li Mingyu nodded heavily.
Then he looked up and said, “Xiao Chen, can you reveal some insider information?”
“What insider information?” Xiao Chen was stunned.
“I mean… about the stock market. Your predictions have been very accurate. After I sell, I’ll still have 1.2 million in principal,” Li Mingyu said through clenched teeth. “I want to ask you where I should invest it.”
“You’re really bold,” Xiao Chen said with a bitter smile.
Li Mingyu actually trusted him this much. He was just a high school student, yet Li Mingyu was willing to follow his advice.
But Li Mingyu’s intuition was not wrong. Xiao Chen’s predictions about the stock market were more than accurate. In his previous life, several of his strategies and forecasts had allowed the Xiao Group to rise rapidly and become one of the top enterprises in Jiangcheng. After being reborn, he was practically maxed out with advantages. Li Mingyu had indeed asked the right person.
“The global economy is in recession. Various industries are in decline, so there aren’t many good options to invest in,” Xiao Chen said. “But you can focus on precious metals, and secondly on biotech and aerospace. I can recommend a few stocks to you.”
Li Mingyu quickly took out a pen and carefully wrote down what Xiao Chen said. However, the stocks Xiao Chen recommended were all currently dropping sharply.
“These stocks… they’ve fallen a lot. Are you sure?” Li Mingyu asked hesitantly.
“This is just my suggestion. Whether to invest or not is up to you,” Xiao Chen said calmly.
Li Mingyu gritted his teeth and made up his mind to take a bold gamble.
“Thank you, Xiao Chen. I’ll think it over carefully after I go back,” Li Mingyu said.
“I’m going back to class,” Xiao Chen waved his hand. Before leaving, he glanced at Li Mingyu and said, “You have a sharp sense for financial trends. If you devote your energy to this field, you’ll definitely achieve something in the future. And… Xiao Qian is not right for you.” Follow the newest chapters on novelping dot com.
“I… I know,” Li Mingyu nodded heavily.
How could he not know that Xiao Qian was not suitable for him? In her eyes, he was just a dispensable backup. He had spent too much on her, and her occasional emotional outbursts would affect his judgment. This time, he made up his mind to draw a clear line between them in the future. With no woman in his heart, drawing his blade would be effortless.
With Xiao Chen’s guidance this time, Li Mingyu would quickly climb out of the mire. With his ability, his future achievements would certainly be extraordinary.
When Xiao Chen returned to class, Song Ziyan asked curiously, “Xiao Chen, what did that person want from you?”
“He just asked about stocks,” Xiao Chen said with a smile.
“You even understand stocks?” Song Ziyan blinked.
“A little,” Xiao Chen replied with a faint smile.
“My family runs a loan company,” Song Ziyan deliberately emphasized the word “loan.” “We’re short of an investment manager. I think you’d definitely be qualified.”
“Stop joking. Have you finished the physics problems? Let me check them,” Xiao Chen said, gently tapping her forehead.
He thought she was joking. Little did he know that the so-called loan company she mentioned was actually Jiangcheng Guangyuan Capital, a firm specializing in investing in stocks, bonds, funds, and other financial products. It was very well known in Jiangcheng.
“This question is too difficult. I don’t know how to solve it,” Song Ziyan said, biting the end of her pen and frowning, looking extremely cute.
“Come here, I’ll explain it to you,” Xiao Chen said, taking out the test paper and going over the physics exam from yesterday.
After school in the afternoon, Xiao Chen assigned her new homework.
Song Ziyan insisted on going back with him. With no other choice, he took her to Grandma Wu’s house.
As soon as they arrived, he felt that something was wrong.
Grandma Wu was standing in the courtyard, rubbing her hands repeatedly, looking nervous.
“Grandma, what’s wrong?” Xiao Chen rushed into the courtyard.
Only after entering did he see that Mrs. Xiao and Xiao Ming were also there.
Mrs. Xiao’s expression was unpleasant. She was wearing delicate makeup and expensive clothes. She lifted her chin and pointed at Grandma Wu, saying, “What are you doing living here? If this gets out, people will say that I, as the daughter-in-law of the Xiao family, deliberately make things difficult for you, won’t they?”
“I think you’re doing this on purpose to embarrass me and make me lose face.”
