Song Wanci nodded, indicating her agreement.

Xu Linxiu widened his eyes in surprise and scratched his head.

He had expected Song Wanci to refuse. After all, going outside the sect meant inevitably interacting with others. Oh well, if she couldn’t handle those situations, he’d step in. Worst case, he’d take her back to the sect first.

Xu Linxiu munched on cashews and grabbed another large handful, stuffing them into his mouth. He had to admit, the more he chewed them, the tastier they became.

Xu Linxiu: ( ̄~ ̄) munch

“Oh right!” Suddenly remembering something, Xu Linxiu swallowed the cashews he was wolfing down. Song Wanci turned and picked up a cup, heading to the kitchen to get some water.

As expected, violent coughing erupted from the living room.

Song Wanci quickened her steps and came to Xu Linxiu’s side, handing him the cup of water.

Xu Linxiu took it and downed the entire thing in one go, finally managing to swallow the stuck cashews.

He put the cup down and patted his chest in discomfort.

“What was I trying to say again…” For a moment, his brain stalled.

“Oh! I meant to say, during this trip to the secret realm, I’ll get us some treasures! In any case, they’ll definitely be valuable to us right now.” Xu Linxiu exhaled and leaned against the chair, proudly looking at Song Wanci.

Song Wanci sat down, tidied up the cup on the table, then nodded.

“Let me be honest, actually Elder Yun asked me to come find you. She wants me to bring you into the secret realm.”

Song Wanci was briefly stunned, but her expression returned to normal at Xu Linxiu’s next words.

“But I was planning to invite you anyway.”

Xu Linxiu folded his legs up onto the chair, hands wrapped around his ankles, rocking side to side. Smiling brightly, he looked at Song Wanci and said, “Also, Qin Feng and An Youxi will be going too. We need to be cautious.”

“Once we enter the secret realm, we should avoid them at first, because I know the exact location of the biggest opportunity in this place!”

Xu Linxiu sat cross-legged, swinging back and forth on the chair, clearly excited. Song Wanci, as always, simply watched him with those expressive peach blossom eyes, quietly listening to him ramble.

“Hehehe, but once we get that major opportunity, let’s go snatch that guy’s stuff too!” Xu Linxiu chuckled darkly, looking every bit the classic villain. But paired with his somewhat childish sitting posture, he actually seemed rather cute.

“Hey, hey! What are you laughing at? I’m a big villain! A bad guy! Aren’t you afraid of me? I’m super fierce, okay?!” Xu Linxiu waved his hands at her like claws, trying to act fierce.

Song Wanci just nodded in agreement with what he said. But the smile tugging at her lips told Xu Linxiu clearly—she wasn’t afraid of this so-called “super villain.”

Xu Linxiu sighed helplessly, “I really can’t beat you.”

“But wait, you seriously agreed when I said we should snatch Qin Feng’s opportunity?”

Song Wanci didn’t reply. She just looked at Xu Linxiu and silently nodded again.

“Alright, then we’ll go in disguise. I’ll make the move.” Xu Linxiu rubbed his hands together, grinning so wide his eyes nearly disappeared.

“Then I’ll head back for now. We’re setting out early tomorrow. I just need to inform my old man if I’m leading a group into the secret realm.”

“No need to follow the sect’s main party.”

Xu Linxiu stood up, ready to go home and make lunch.

But Song Wanci suddenly reached out and tugged on his sleeve, then pointed toward the kitchen.

“Lunch…” Her voice was soft as a mosquito.

Xu Linxiu scratched his head and pointed to himself, “You mean… you cooked lunch for me too?”

Song Wanci gave a gentle nod.

“Hahaha!” Xu Linxiu laughed happily and walked straight toward the kitchen.

“Wanci, you’re just… you’re just… just… just…” Xu Linxiu couldn’t think of a compliment.

“Perfect girlfriend!” His mouth moved faster than his brain, blurting it out before he realized.

Song Wanci froze instantly, like she’d turned to stone. A faint blush crept up her delicate face.

She quickly escaped into the kitchen. When Xu Linxiu tried to follow and help, she promptly kicked him out.

Scratching his head, Xu Linxiu returned to his seat by the table.

About five or six minutes later, Song Wanci came out of the kitchen, carrying plate after plate of hot, fragrant homemade dishes.

Xu Linxiu quickly stood up to help. Looking at the steaming, delicious-smelling food, he couldn’t help but feel his appetite surge.

Song Wanci handed him a bowl of rice. Xu Linxiu took it, grabbed his chopsticks, and began devouring the food.

He picked up a piece of the same homemade tofu from yesterday.

Song Wanci sat down too, the corners of her mouth curving up slightly—perhaps without her even realizing.

“This bone broth is also delicious!” Xu Linxiu drank a large bowl, then filled another for Song Wanci.

“This potato smells so good. Wanci, did you roast it?”

“And this chicken leg—braised? It smells incredible.”

Xu Linxiu kept eating while talking nonstop.

Song Wanci silently ate and listened to him ramble on.

“Can I come over often for meals from now on?” After eating his fill, Xu Linxiu leaned back in his chair and joked.

[Host…]

[Have some shame.]

“I was just joking! I’m not shameless—cough, cough.” Xu Linxiu replied awkwardly. That request really was a little shameless.

“You can.” Song Wanci’s voice was soft as always, but Xu Linxiu still heard her clearly.

Xu Linxiu: !

System: ?

[(╬ ̄皿 ̄)]

“Huh? Really?!”

Wait a second… damn system, what’s with that expression?

Song Wanci nodded and began clearing the dishes. Xu Linxiu also got up to help.

“I’m heading out now,” Xu Linxiu said after they finished tidying up.

Song Wanci nodded and followed him to the door.

“Remember to bring warm clothes. I heard it’s cold in Falling Origin City. Since we’re leaving tomorrow, we’ll have to stay there for a couple of days.”

“Alright,” Song Wanci replied simply.

“Hehe, then I’m off.” Xu Linxiu scratched his head and waved goodbye with a grin.

Song Wanci stood at the door, watching his figure fade into the distance. She didn’t turn back and close the door until he was completely out of sight.
