“Wanci, we should put on disguises. The main party from the sect is about to arrive here.” Xu Linxiu opened the takeout meal he had bought earlier and handed a pair of chopsticks to Song Wanci. “If those guys from the sect recognize us, it’ll be trouble. Besides, you don’t like that kind of scene anyway.” He lowered his voice, grinning, “And don’t forget—we still need to snatch something from Qin Feng!”

As usual, Xu Linxiu rambled while eating a mouthful of rice. Song Wanci quietly listened while holding her bowl, then picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork and placed it in Xu Linxiu’s bowl.

Xu Linxiu blinked, then ate it and stared blankly at Song Wanci. “How did you know I like sweet and sour pork, hehe.”Full novel: Why Be a Villain? Isn’t a Shut-in Girl More Appealing? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

[Host, maybe she’s just trying to shut you up so you’ll eat quietly?]

“I don’t believe that,” Xu Linxiu replied flatly, then silently resumed eating.

“No more rooms?” a voice interrupted, making Xu Linxiu look up. The sect’s main party had arrived!

He quickly lowered his head, shoveling rice into his mouth. Song Wanci, seeing this, picked up some dishes and added them to his bowl.

Xu Linxiu looked up with a smile and explained, “That was our sect just now. They’re downstairs, probably off to find another inn for now, but they’ll be back soon. Then the real show begins!”

Song Wanci nodded and quietly kept eating.

“Wait, there might be too many people downstairs later. It might not be suitable for you. Do you still want to go?” Xu Linxiu asked, putting down his chopsticks after finishing his last grain of rice.

“I’ll go too.” Song Wanci looked up and spoke each word clearly.

Xu Linxiu opened his mouth but couldn’t figure out what to say. Still, he nodded in agreement.

“Alright then, let’s get ready to watch the fun.” Xu Linxiu took two cloaks and two masks from his storage ring, smiling as he handed one of each to Song Wanci.

…

…

“Shopkeeper, do you have any extra rooms?” asked one of the male cultivators from the Azure Cloud Sword Sect who was leading the group due to having the highest cultivation.

“Alright…” The man sighed and stepped back.

“How can all the inns in such a big city be full so quickly?” a female cultivator asked, confused.

The Azure Cloud Sword Sect’s group all sighed in disappointment.

“Listen, if it comes to it, we can just pitch tents somewhere,” the team leader suggested.

“Yang Xiao, who carries tents when traveling? Are we supposed to buy them now?” Qin Feng stepped forward and calmly refuted.

Everyone’s expression darkened at Qin Feng’s words, but no one objected openly.

“I’ll handle the rooms,” Qin Feng said, annoyed by their attitude but forcing himself to stay calm.

“What do you mean handle it? We’ve checked nearly every inn in Falling Origin City. You think they’re all lying?” a blunt male cultivator retorted.

“I have my ways. If you trust me, follow me.” Qin Feng suppressed his urge to slap him and added, “Let’s go back to the inn we checked earlier.”

With that, he quickly left. An Youxi followed him immediately. A male cultivator named Huang An was about to speak, but Yang Xiao stopped him with a raised hand.

“Let him try. If it doesn’t work, we can deal with it then. Right now, it’s better than doing nothing.”

After saying that, Yang Xiao followed Qin Feng, and the rest of the group hurried after him.

The Azure Cloud Sword Sect party returned to the very inn Xu Linxiu was staying at.

The moment Qin Feng entered, he shouted, “Who’s targeting our Azure Cloud Sword Sect?! Who bought out all the rooms at this inn?!”

Xu Linxiu was sipping tea, and because the mask only covered half his face, his struggle to hold back laughter was plain to see.

Song Wanci looked at him curiously and moved her chair closer to him. The noise and the crowd made her visibly uneasy.

Xu Linxiu nibbled on the pastries the innkeeper had just brought and watched the argument unfolding between Qin Feng and his teammates. This was one of the funniest parts in the original novel, in his opinion.

Qin Feng had assumed that even with all the sects coming to explore the secret realm, there’d still be enough rooms in such a big city. So, he returned to the biggest inn they had checked earlier, suspecting someone had deliberately bought out all the rooms to target the Azure Cloud Sword Sect.

That was what led to the current situation… Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

But because of this incident, Qin Feng would soon encounter Gu Xiyan.

“Who is making such a racket?” a female voice rang out—not Gu Xiyan’s.

Xu Linxiu calmly sipped his tea and tasted the pastry, continuing to enjoy the show.

It wasn’t time for him to step in yet.

“If you disturb the saintees’ rest, you should die for it!” a woman descended from the second floor, her gaze fixed on the Azure Cloud Sword Sect members.

“My apologies. I am Qin Feng, disciple of the Azure Cloud Sword Sect. We came to this large city, only to find no inn with vacancy. Naturally, I began to suspect someone was deliberately working against us.” Qin Feng clasped his fists and responded neither arrogantly nor humbly.

“Isn’t that Xu Ning, the saintees’ maid from the Holy Moon Sect?” Yang Xiao squinted and spoke.

“This is enough already… I’m quite certain nothing of the sort happened. I suggest Fellow Daoist Qin seek help for his paranoia,” Xu Ning scoffed.

Xu Linxiu curled his lips and nodded in agreement. Exactly! When he’d first read this scene in the novel, he’d been dumbfounded by Qin Feng’s ridiculous conclusion.

“You’re looking for death!” As always, Qin Feng exploded like a powder keg, instantly drawing his sword and slashing toward Xu Ning with spiritual energy infused.

“Hmph.” Xu Ning snorted coldly and waved out a flash of silver light in defense.

She was quickly sent flying, crashing into the wall behind her, coughing up blood from the impact.

“Good grief, how long has it been, and this guy’s already at the 4th stage Spirit Condensation Realm?” Xu Linxiu gritted his teeth.

Song Wanci gently held his hand and wrote in his palm: “You’re stronger than him.”

Xu Linxiu blinked and smiled, just about to say something when a voice rang out at the stairway on the second floor—laced with suppressed fury.

“Fellow Daoists from the Azure Cloud Sword Sect, why have you injured someone from my Holy Moon Sect without reason? Do you take us for pushovers?”

Descending slowly from upstairs and stepping into view was Gu Xiyan.
