“Little Junior Sister, y-you’re coming to Kyoto University?”

The physical education teacher was the first to sit down across from her.

“Senior Brother A-Kuan, I didn’t want to come either! But someone said my grades were too poor and told me to come here to polish my credentials.”Full novel: Why Mess with Her? After Si Nanyuan’s performance just now, she had become the talk of Kyoto University.

At first, they had all opposed letting an illiterate like her enroll, thinking she would embarrass them. Now they were thoroughly embarrassed themselves.

Si Nanyuan took a sip of soup and smiled with satisfaction. The Cordyceps Flower and lean pork soup at Kyoto University really was delicious!

This trip hadn’t been a waste.

“Everyone, don’t worry. I was just lucky today. With a poor student like me at the bottom, you’ll never have to worry about coming in last again.”

Si Nanyuan spoke as though she really had no idea what the standards were for top students at Kyoto University.

Listen to that!

Was that any way to talk?

She was going to work them to death.

If she was a poor student, what did that make them? Dregs?

They thought about how Si Nanyuan’s arrival had raised the standards for the Elite Class. They’d never get into it in their lifetimes.

Who was behind this?

Who was messing with them like this?

They’d been so happy that morning. Now they were just as miserable.

“Little Junior Sister, who exactly said your grades were bad?”

The Elite Class’s math teacher couldn’t hold back any longer.

Teaching the Elite Class meant a higher salary, bigger bonuses, and students who were eager to learn.

Now the Elite Class was practically finished, and she was heartbroken.

“Senior Sister Qin, it was your school’s top student, Su Xiyue! She said my grades were too poor and told me to come study here. Honestly, I’m really happy. I never imagined that someone at my level would count as a poor student at Kyoto University.

“The teaching here keeps getting better. I’m proud of my alma mater.”

Her words set the students in the cafeteria murmuring.

“What does the Moon Goddess mean by that? Isn’t she setting us up?”

“Si Nanyuan just returned to the Su family. We don’t know anything about her, but the Moon Goddess is family. There’s no way she didn’t know!”

“No way! The Moon Goddess is leaving the Elite Class herself and going back to the regular class to keep working hard!”

“Oh my god, am I just being wicked? Could the Moon Goddess have done this to make Si Nanyuan look bad?”

“She’s so kind. She wouldn’t, would she?”

“Who knows? When there’s one more person, everyone else’s share gets cut in half. Anyone would feel bad about that.”

“Well, look where that got us. We trusted the Moon Goddess, and now we’ve made a mess of things for ourselves.”

Hearing them and seeing their accusing looks, Su Xiyue could no longer hold back. Her eyes reddened with hurt.

“Little Sister A-Yuan, why did you lie to me?”

“What did I lie to you about?”

“You’re obviously so capable. Why didn’t you say so?”

Si Nanyuan blinked, looking innocent. “You were the one who said you were a top student and that I had bad grades. You insisted I come to Kyoto University to study so I wouldn’t disgrace the Su family. I thought you were so kind that you wouldn’t lie to me! I’m really happy that Kyoto University’s students are so talented. The future of our country is in good hands.”

The students fell silent.

Su Xiyue was stunned. She hadn’t asked, but she hadn’t said anything either! Si Nanyuan had deliberately come to humiliate her.

“But you could have told me!”

“Told you what? That I was a top student? That was all in the past. I was the top scorer with a perfect score on the college entrance exam ten years ago. How can those questions compare with yours today? You’re Kyoto City’s top scorer. You must be much better than I was.”

Si Nanyuan looked as humble as ever, as though she were just a poor student and excellence were a light-year away.

“The top scorer with a perfect score ten years ago?”

“No way! How old was Si Nanyuan then?”

“I think she was eleven.”

“Oh my god! Could Si Nanyuan be that legendary Crazy Si? She worked students in her year to the bone, and the teachers were all grateful she’d appeared because she solved problems they’d been struggling with for years.”

“No way! The genius who spent half a year in the music department, was so good the teachers didn’t know what else to teach her and let her graduate? Then she switched to clinical medicine and went on to study several more majors. Was that really Si Nanyuan?”

“Everyone said she studied herself crazy. They all called her Crazy Si. Could that really have been her?”

“They have the same surname. It must be. Just look at the teachers’ faces.”

Su Xiyue’s face turned deathly pale. She clenched her hands so tightly that her nails pierced her palms, but she didn’t even notice.

Watching her expression, Si Nanyuan pressed her lips together and smiled.

This is fun!

Good thing she’d agreed to come for Kyoto University’s soup.

Otherwise, she’d have missed Su Xiyue’s wonderful expression.

You wanted to laugh at me?

Your Sister Yuan predicted your prediction.

“Student Si.”

The principal’s arrival drew everyone’s attention. A group of university leaders followed behind him.

“Hello, Principal.”

Si Nanyuan rose and greeted him respectfully.

“Student Si, have you made up your mind? Are you coming back to teach as a professor?”

“Principal, I’m nowhere near qualified! I haven’t even passed the Elite Class assessment. I only took three exams.”

Si Nanyuan’s humility was driving everyone crazy.

Please, don’t take any more exams. Leave us a way to survive!

At this rate, would they have to fail every single subject from now on?

At that moment, many of them began to blame Su Xiyue.

Su Xiyue had no idea that her standing at Kyoto University would soon be worlds apart from what it had been before.

“You’re the most outstanding student Kyoto University has ever had. Who says you’re not qualified?”

The principal had heard about today’s assessment. It was rare for this young lady to be willing to set foot in Kyoto University, and these people had made things difficult for her. What if they scared her away?

“No one in particular. Just the city’s top scorer from a few years ago.”

“The city’s top scorer? Which one?”

After all, Kyoto University had no shortage of city top scorers. What it lacked was a national top scorer with a perfect score.

There had only ever been one: Si Nanyuan.

“It was Student Su Xiyue.”

A student who had never liked Su Xiyue called out. Thinking about how she was about to leave the Elite Class, the girl burst into tears.

“Si Nanyuan was the only top scorer in the history of the college entrance exam to earn a perfect score. She was eleven that year. To protect her, we didn’t publish her name.

“She’s talented in many fields. I won’t list all the awards she’s won; I’d be thirsty by the time I finished. Go look in the assembly hall yourselves. One entire wall is covered with awards she won for the university. If you don’t know the story, ask your teachers and professors. Most of them were classmates of Si Nanyuan.”

The whole cafeteria was stunned.

Su Xiyue’s eyes rolled back, and she hit the floor with a thud.

Everyone was too shocked to notice, so no one helped her up.

Si Nanyuan shook her head. That was all it took to faint? How boring.

Was Liu Wan’s acting just as bad?

Mom should have had this little sweetheart of a daughter sooner. If I’d been there, she wouldn’t have been driven out of the house by Liu Wan. And if she’d left, she should’ve taken half the family fortune with her! What was the point of being proud?
