"Our souls become one?" Alex repeated the words, feeling them roll around in his mind like a pair of loose, explosive marbles. "Like... a merger? A hostile takeover of the afterlife?"
The chained woman's lips curled into a feline smile.
"Hostile? No. I'd call it a strategic partnership. A symbiotic merger."
She shifted, the golden chains clinking with a melody that sounded both sad and powerful.
"I'm offering a way to survive for both of us." Her violet eyes glowed with intensity. "When my soul merges with yours, the three divine curses will be affected by my existence inside you. I can't break them, but I can influence them."
Alex's mind raced, the programmer in him instantly trying to deconstruct the logic.
"So you're like a... a divine patch? A mod that runs alongside the corrupted base code to make it function?"
"An... elegant analogy." She chuckled. "Yes. My divine essence will act as a buffer, a filter. The world won't see 'you' anymore. It will see 'Us.' The curses will slightly change in our favor."
She raised a bound finger.
"The 'Curse of Absolute Hostility,' for instance. Its effect will flip in the opposite direction."
"What do you mean?" Alex asked, a flicker of hope igniting in the desolate landscape of his soul.
"Don't get your hopes up. Absolute attractiveness is still a curse," she clarified. "Extreme love can sometimes be far more dangerous than blind hatred."
Alex's blood ran cold.
"And for the other two curses?"
"The 'Curse of the Withering Soul' will also change," she explained. "One of my skills, 'Drain,' can absorb life force from others. So you can replenish the life force you use for magic. It won't be a one-way street anymore. A trade."
That... was something. It drove a long sigh from Alex. It wasn't a solution, but it was a workaround. A patch.
"And the last one?" he asked, almost afraid of the answer. "The 'Forgotten Hero'? The 99% experience reduction?"
Her smile faltered for the first time, a flicker of genuine frustration in her ancient eyes.
"The same as the last one. I have a skill that will allow you to harvest experience from monsters without killing them."
"..."
Alex took a moment to think about it. It's clear that this woman was not telling him everything.
But what other choice did he have?
"So, what's the catch?" he asked, crossing his arms. "No deal this good comes without a hidden clause. I learned that the hard way."
"The catch," she said, her voice losing its playful tone and becoming dead serious, "is that I will be with you. Always."
Her violet eyes seemed to peer directly into his soul.
"You will hear my thoughts. I will hear yours. There will be no secrets between us. You will feel my ancient hunger, my endless rage, my boredom that spans millennia. And I... I will feel your pathetic mortal emotions. Your grief, your fear, your fleeting moments of joy. It will be... an invasion for us both."
She looked away, at the swirling cosmos.
"We will be bound together. One being. One will. Our goals shall become one."
"And your goal is?" Alex pressed.
"Revenge." The word was a shard of ice. "On her. On this entire system that allows her to play with lives like this. I want to tear down her pretty little office and reshape the cosmos in my image. And you, my dear, sweet architect of slow-burning vengeance, are the perfect vessel for my rage."
She looked back at him, her smile returning, sharper than ever.
"Your meticulous, patient cruelty is the perfect counterpoint to my... shall we say, more explosive tendencies."
So that was the price. He wouldn't just be living with a curse; he'd be sharing his head with a genocidal, ancient goddess who saw him as a useful tool for her cosmic temper tantrum. On the other hand, the alternative was being a squirrel's chew toy.
He weighed his options. Death, followed by an eternity of cosmic torture at the hands of a spiteful office lady. Or life as the shared body of a bitter programmer and a vengeful goddess, destined to fight a war against reality itself.
It wasn't much of a choice.
"Alright," he said, his voice steady. "I accept your... merger proposal. Draw up the papers."
The woman's smile widened, showing no surprise at his decision.
"Wise choice." She flashed a grin full of teeth that were just a little too sharp. "To seal the deal, we must exchange essence."
"Essence?" Alex raised an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Hehehe..." She just chuckled, and for the first time since Alex arrived, she allowed him to 'see' the rest of her body.
"!!!" Alex was at a loss for words.
She was naked.
Alex had been so focused on her face and the chains that he hadn't noticed that the chains were the only thing she wore. They coiled around her perfect form, highlighting every curve, every valley, every inch of her divine physique.
And it was a physique that would make angels weep, and demons sell their souls for a single touch.
"Try not to waste essence," she said, as if reading his mind and emotions. "The transfer must be consensual and pleasurable for both of us."
She then slowly spread her legs, revealing her womanhood, which was as perfect as the rest of her.
Alex was a man who had lived a long life. He had seen and done things that would make most people blush. He had a daughter and grandchild and a great-grandchild.
He was no hormonal teenager.
But right now...
He was having a very hard time thinking straight.
The woman watched him, a playful glint in her violet eyes.
"You're staring."
"I'm... observing," he managed to say, his throat suddenly dry. "For... strategic purposes."
"Strategic purposes?" She let out a soft laugh. "Is that what you mortals call it now?"
She then beckoned him with a finger.
"Come here, my dear Alex."
Her voice was a siren's call, promising both heaven and hell in a single breath.
Alex, or rather, what remained of his soul, found himself moving towards her. It wasn't a conscious decision. His ethereal feet simply... obeyed.
He knelt before the altar, his eyes locked on hers.
"This is..." he started, but the words died in his throat.
"Shhh..." she cut him off. "No words. Just... feel."
She then leaned forward as much as the chains would allow, her lips parting slightly.
And for the second time, he was being kissed by a goddess.
The last one was trying to kill him.
This one...
This one was trying to possess him.
Her lips were soft, yet firm, tasting of starlight and forgotten memories. He could feel her essence, her power, her very being flowing into him. It was a tidal wave of pure, unadulterated energy.
He responded in kind. He poured his own soul, his own essence, into the kiss.
The moment their lips met—
BOOM!
It was as if a universe had been born and died in a single instant.
Alex's mind was flooded with images.
Countless fragments of light exploded around Alex, each one carrying pieces of lives that had never been his. Empires rising beneath crimson skies. Stars collapsing into oceans of silver fire. Dragons larger than continents bowing before a woman seated upon a throne carved from the corpses of dead gods.
He saw her loneliness.
Her eternal imprisonment.
Her burning rage.
And in return, she saw his.
His father's crushed body beneath a steel beam.
His mother's rough, tired hands.
The betrayal in Sarah's eyes.
The trust in Emily's.
And the cold, methodical satisfaction of a twenty-year plan reaching its conclusion.
It was an invasion.
A violation.
And yet...
It was also a union.
For a brief, glorious moment, their two souls were one. A being of infinite power and infinite pain. A god and a mortal, fused into a single, impossible entity.
Then, as suddenly as it began, it was over.
Alex found himself kneeling on the cold stone platform, gasping for breath.
The woman was also breathing heavily, her chest heaving.
The golden chains around her seemed to glow brighter, the runes pulsing with an angry red light, as if protesting this union.
"Come back here," she said with a weak smile. "We're not done yet."
She then pulled him into another kiss, this one more demanding, more desperate.
Alex's hands, ethereal yet somehow solid in this liminal space, found her waist. The moment his fingers touched her flawless skin, he jolted. It wasn't just skin. It was like touching the fabric of the cosmos—warm, pulsing, and humming with a power that made his very soul tremble.
Ding!
A blue window flashed in the corner of his vision, translucent this time, as if the system itself was embarrassed to intrude.
[Soul Merger Protocol Initiated]
[Ancient Entity: ██████ (True Name Redacted) has offered Symbiotic Binding]
[Do you accept? Y/N]
He didn't even get to choose. The goddess bit his lower lip—hard enough to draw blood that wasn't really blood—and the window shattered into golden motes.
"Too late for cold feet now, my dear architect," she purred against his mouth. Her voice was inside his head now, velvet wrapped around obsidian. "We're past the point of polite negotiation."
She pulled him closer with the chains themselves, guiding his body over hers on the cold altar. The runes pulsed brighter, feeding on the rising energy.
"Now, my dear," she whispered, her violet eyes locking with his as she slowly spread her legs, revealing the hidden core of her divine essence. "We have to complete the merger, body and soul."
