Step! Step! BAAAAM!
The door slammed open with enough force to embed it into the wall.
"ALEX!!!"
A figure, a blur of motion and raw emotion, launched itself across the room. Alex barely had time to register a cascade of dark-blue hair before he was bowled over, a wave of frantic energy knocking him back against the pillows.
"Ah—!" he grunted as slender arms wrapped around him with surprising strength, burying his face between two large, soft mounds, a sweet-scented warmth of jasmine and fresh rain burying his senses.
For three terrifying seconds, Alex was entirely paralyzed, suffocating in a sea of softness and overwhelming emotional intensity.
"You're alive! You're awake! Gods above, I thought—the healers said you might never—" The voice was choked with sob-laced relief, vibrating directly against his nose.
A girl. A very affectionate, very strong, very well-endowed girl.
'A little help here?' Alex wheezed internally, his hands hovering uselessly in the air, terrified that touching her might accidentally trigger another round of magical vampire-sucking or exacerbate whatever this was.
[Oh, don't look at me,] Lily snickered, floating near the ceiling and looking down at the display with absolute glee. [Enjoy the... full-bodied reunion. Though I must say, the 'boon' theory is looking remarkably bouncy.]
With a desperate wiggle, Alex managed to turn his head to the side, taking a ragged breath of sterile hospital air.
"I—can't... breathe..."
"Oh! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry... baby."
The woman pulled back, her hands hovering nervously over his shoulders. Now that he could actually see her, Alex took in the sight. She looked to be in her early twenties, sporting sharp, aristocratically beautiful features framed by long, raven-blue hair that caught the light like polished obsidian. Her sapphire eyes were glistening with unshed tears, and she was dressed in high-end, tailored clothes that whispered of nobility—dark blue riding pants, polished boots, and a white silk shirt that was currently straining at the buttons.
She was beautiful in that dangerous, "will ruin your life and thank you for it" way.
'Baby?' Alex inwardly repeated, the word feeling alien and utterly wrong in his mind.
But when she looked at him, he felt it—a direct, undiluted torrent of affection, so potent it made the nurse's earlier crush feel like a fleeting spark. This was a forest fire. An ocean of devotion.
"How are you feeling? Does it hurt anywhere? The healers said your mana channels were a mess, that your life force was practically guttering like a dying candle!" she babbled, one hand reaching out to gently smooth the hair from his forehead. Her touch was electric, sending another pleasant trickle of energy into him.
Normally Alex would have felt a jolt of panic, a reminder of the ticking clock. But this was different. This was... well, he didn't think much about it, or at least he recalled what Lily said about 'boons'.
So the first thing that came to his mind when a bombshell hot woman called him baby and hugged him was.
Wife.
Without hesitation, Alex leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.
"!!!" The young noblewoman froze, her eyes wide with shock. Her entire body tensed.
Then instead of getting angry or pushing him away, she melted.
Her arms wrapped around him again, but this time it was different. Not the desperate grip of a terrified sister, but the possessive embrace of a lover. She deepened the kiss, her lips parting slightly, a soft moan escaping her throat.
The world around them faded away.
It was just the two of them, locked in a passionate embrace.
The kiss stretched on, far longer than Alex's panicked brain had intended. What started as a desperate test of the "boon" theory quickly spiraled. Her lips were soft, insistent, tasting faintly of honeyed wine and relief.
[Oh my,] Lily's voice dripped with wicked amusement inside his head. [Look at you. One minute into the new life and you're already French-kissing your way out of death. Efficient. I'm almost proud.]
Alex's hands, which had been hovering awkwardly, finally settled on her waist. The fabric of her silk shirt was cool beneath his fingers, but her skin underneath burned. His new body responded on instinct, heightened sensitivity turning every point of contact into sparks. He felt her heartbeat thundering against his chest, her Absolute Affection meter—visible only to him—climbing at an alarming rate.
Finally, after five long minutes, she pulled back just enough to rest her forehead against his, breathing hard. Her sapphire eyes were half-lidded, cheeks flushed a deep rose, a thin string of saliva still connecting their lips.
"Y-you..." she breathed, her voice husky and filled with a dizzying mix of joy, confusion, and raw lust. "You kissed me."
"...Yes."
"I—uh—" Alex's usually sharp tongue failed him. He had been thinking on pure programmer logic. Input: Affection. Output: Life force. He hadn't exactly factored in the variable of the woman being an Olympic-level kisser. "You called me 'baby.' I panicked."
The woman's smile widened.
"Alex kissed me," she whispered again, as if trying to convince herself it was real. "But why?..."
"Hmm?... Is there a reason for me to kiss my wife?" Alex said with a confident smile.
He had no idea if they were married or not, but seeing the absolute look of love and devotion in her eyes, he took a gamble.
The word hung in the air between them, a tiny, perfect grenade.
"Wife..." she repeated the word, savoring it like a delicacy. Her smile was slow, dawning, and utterly luminous. She straightened up, her hands moving from his shoulders to cup his face, her thumbs stroking his cheekbones.
"Yes," she declared, her voice ringing with absolute, unshakeable conviction. "Your wife. Of course. Why would I be anything else?"
"Exactly," Alex nodded, leaning in again and kissing her lower lip gently. "I'm a lucky man to have such a beautiful and caring wife."
His Charisma stat wasn't just a number; it was a weapon of mass seduction, and he had just armed it.
The noblewoman's breath hitched, her pupils swallowing the blue of her irises.
"A-Alex..." she stammered, her composure cracking like thin ice. "You've never... you've never said things like this before."
'Before?' Alex's mind whirled. This was crucial intel. This body's previous owner was different. Reserved, perhaps? Cold? The possibilities were a minefield.
'Hey, Lily, did my soul occupy a dead body, or was I... 'born' into this world?' Alex asked inwardly.
[Born.] Lily's reply was crisp and immediate. [Think of it as this world 'loading' a character with your soul. The 'Alex' who existed before was you in this world, but without your memories, your personality. Just an NPC running on a basic script. He wasn't dead; he was... empty. And then you arrived. The system had to fill the blanks.]
'So I'm the main character now?' Alex asked.
[You are the Player now,] Lily corrected.
"But she said 'I've never said this before,'' Alex thought. 'So the previous me was an asshole?'
[A very charming one, it seems.] Lily's mental smirk was palpable. [He probably kept everyone at arm's length. Made them want him more. You just broke your own game, my dear player.]
"Maybe I was a fool before," Alex said, his voice dropping to a low, intimate register. He gently pulled her down until she sat on the edge of the bed beside him, their faces inches apart.
"I'm sorry, my love. I'll make sure to show you how much you mean to me from now on."
The noblewoman—his 'wife'—shuddered, her entire body trembling with emotion. Her hands tightened on his shoulders.
"Show me," she whispered, her eyes burning with a feverish light. "Show me now, Alex. Here."
She leaned in for another passionate kiss.
"Hey! Alex! I heard you were awake!"
The door slammed open again, and another woman walked in, with a big smile plastered on her face.
She was younger than the noblewoman, probably around seventeen or eighteen, with the same dark blue hair but cut in a playful, shoulder-length style. Her eyes were a bright, almost glowing sapphire green, filled with mischief and an almost manic energy.
She wore a much more revealing outfit than the noblewoman, a tight, black leather corset over a white blouse and a short, frilly skirt that showed off her long, toned legs. She looked like a knight, or at least what someone who watched too many fantasy shows would think a knight looked like.
"What are you two doing?" the newcomer asked, her eyes narrowing as she saw their close proximity. "Mom, Alex has only been awake for five minutes! Can't you keep your hands to yourself for five minutes?"
'Mom?' Alex's brain blue-screened again.
'Wait...WAIT!!!' Alex's mental shriek was so loud even Lily flinched.
[What now?!] Lily snapped.
'MOM!? I'M MARRIED TO A WOMAN OLD ENOUGH TO BE MY MOTHER!'
"Seraphina! This is not the time or place!" she scolded. "Can't you see we were having a private moment?"
"A private moment in a hospital room?" Seraphina scoffed, her hands on her hips. "How romantic. Did you even check his vitals? Or did you just go straight for the lip-lock?"
"I was checking his vitals with my lips!" the noblewoman shot back, her pride stung. "It's a very advanced healing technique!"
"I'm sure it is," Seraphina said with a sly grin, her eyes flicking back to Alex. "So, 'baby brother', are you feeling better? Or do you need more of Mom's 'advanced healing'?"
"Baby brother!?" Alex's voice squeaked.
[Oh, this is rich,] Lily's inner voice was shaking with silent laughter. [So much for the wife theory. We've upgraded to an Oedipus complex.]
'YOU'RE ENJOYING THIS, AREN'T YOU?' Alex mentally screamed.
[Immensely,] Lily purred. [This is better than the celestial theatre. Keep going; this is getting good.]
'...Lily.'
[Yes, dear?]
"How much trouble am I in?"
[Immeasurable.]
'That's not helpful.'
[You kissed the first person who walked through the door.]
'She called me baby!'
[And you immediately assumed she was your wife.]
'I panicked!'
[You kissed her.]
'I was confused!'
[You kissed her.]
'Stop repeating that!'
[You kissed her.]
"..."
"I... so you're my..." Alex stammered, looking from the noblewoman to the younger girl, his mind desperately trying to connect the dots.
"Don't tell me you don't remember your own family," Seraphina said, her smirk fading slightly, replaced by a flicker of concern. She walked over to the bed and gently ruffled his hair.
"It's me, Sera. Your annoying little sister. And this," she gestured to the noblewoman, "is our mother, our dearly beloved, and slightly overbearing Duchess of the North, Eleonora von Valerian."
Alex's mind, already a chaotic mess of programmer logic and divine curses, finally snapped.
"Mother?" he repeated, the word tasting like ash in his mouth. "MY MOTHER!"
"Tehe~" Eleonora giggled, her face flushing. "Ara Ara... does my little Alex not want to marry his mother anymore?"
[Oh, I like this one,] Lily's voice was full of approval. [She's got spirit. And a great rack.]
'Fuck you, Lily!"
