Chapter 16: Intimidation (Part 1)

World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

Giant Bull — Level 21

The magical beast Evan discovered was a five-meter-tall bull.

Although he was quite far away from it, he still felt like an ant standing before such a gigantic magical beast.

Despite the enormous difference in their size, Evan didn’t back away and continued walking toward the Giant Bull.

When he got closer to the monster, he was finally able to see its appearance clearly.

The bull’s skin was completely black, as dark as the darkest night. It had deep-red eyes that made it look as though it were constantly in a berserk state, and two large, curved horns protruded from its head, each around fifty centimeters long.

At the moment, the Giant Bull was simply sitting on the ground without doing anything.

However, the moment it noticed Evan approaching, it slowly stood up and glared at him with its deep-red eyes.

The instant Evan met its gaze, goosebumps covered his entire body, and for a brief moment, he felt as though he wasn’t worthy of fighting such a mighty beast.

Cold sweat appeared on his forehead, and his fighting spirit gradually began to fade away. At the same time, a strange sense of powerlessness began spreading throughout his body, and his mind felt heavy.

’Something is wrong...’

Alarm bells instantly rang inside Evan’s mind upon realizing his unusual state, and he immediately bit his lower lip so hard that blood trickled from it.

The pain helped him regain some clarity, and he quickly circulated his Mana with all his strength.

The moment his Mana began flowing through his body, the strange feeling of powerlessness that had overwhelmed him suddenly disappeared, and his mind also became clear.

’Damn it, this magical beast has a spiritual-type skill!’

Evan couldn’t help but curse inwardly, and he still felt a lingering sense of fear.

Spiritual skills were extremely rare abilities that didn’t affect the physical body.

Instead, they directly attacked the mind and soul of their targets.

Even among Rank One magical beasts, spiritual-type skills were incredibly rare.

Evan had never expected to encounter a magical beast possessing such an ability while it was still in the Unranked realm.

After regaining his senses, Evan looked at the bull again and continuously circulated his Mana throughout his body to protect himself against its spiritual attack.

Normally, circulating Mana wouldn’t provide much protection against a spiritual attack.

However, the Giant Bull was only an Unranked magical beast, and Evan’s Mana was exceptionally powerful.

As a result, he was barely able to resist the spiritual attack through continuous Mana circulation.

The Giant Bull also noticed that its ability wasn’t working properly on Evan, so it stopped using the skill.

After all, using a spiritual ability consumed a considerable amount of energy, and continuously using it would quickly exhaust the user.

Since its spiritual attack wasn’t effective against Evan, the Giant Bull decided to stop wasting its energy.

When Evan saw that the bull had stopped using its spiritual ability, he relaxed slightly and sighed in relief.

Although he had somehow managed to resist the attack using Mana circulation, maintaining the circulation continuously during a battle would be extremely difficult.

Just then, the Giant Bull suddenly lowered its head.

Its massive legs pressed against the ground, and the next second—

BOOM!

The ground beneath its feet exploded, and the Giant Bull charged toward Evan at full speed.

Evan immediately tightened his grip around Black Star and activated Wind Monarch.

As the Giant Bull rushed toward him, Evan pointed one of his fingers toward it and gathered the surrounding wind.

"Wind Bullet."

A compressed sphere of wind appeared in front of him, and the next instant, it shot toward the Giant Bull’s right eye.

Now that his control over the wind had increased because of his increased Magic stat, he was able to condense the wind into small, bullet-like shapes.

The bull was charging at full speed and had no time to evade the incoming Wind Bullet.

At the last moment, it instinctively closed its right eye in an attempt to protect it.

However, the power of the Wind Bullet wasn’t something that could be stopped simply by closing an eyelid.

BANG!

The Wind Bullet pierced straight through the Giant Bull’s eye, and it immediately exploded into a cloud of blood mist.

MOOOO!!!

The Giant Bull’s charge suddenly stopped, and it stumbled before crashing heavily onto the ground, roaring in agony.

Evan didn’t waste this opportunity and a green aura enveloped his legs.

Taking a step forward, he disappeared from his position and, in the blink of an eye, appeared right before the Giant Bull.

Black Star gleamed in his hand as a green glow simultaneously enveloped its blade, greatly increasing its speed and sharpness.

Evan thrust his sword forward.

SWISH!

The blade easily pierced straight through the Giant Bull’s left eye.

ROAR!!!

The Giant Bull howled in agony after losing both of its eyes, and its body began trembling violently on the ground.

Evan had no intention of torturing the monster, so he quickly raised Black Star and thrust it directly into the Giant Bull’s head.

The sword’s blade was enveloped in a sharp wind aura that pierced through its skull.

The instant the blade entered its head, the sharp wind aura transformed into a wind blade that instantly shot forward, destroying its brain and killing it.

As the Giant Bull died, Evan felt a vast surge of energy enter his body, and he became stronger as the energy spread throughout him.

However, he didn’t immediately check the notifications on his Status Window.

Instead, he first looked around the Giant Bull’s corpse to see if it had dropped anything and after searching for a moment, he suddenly spotted a Skill Scroll, and his eyes lit up.

Obtaining a Skill Scroll by killing a magical beast outside a dungeon was extremely rare.

Normally, other than receiving a guaranteed active skill for killing your first magical beast, it was very difficult to obtain Skill Scrolls outside of dungeons.

Only by killing monsters of a higher level than yourself was it possible to obtain Skill Scrolls outside of dungeons.

This was also one of the reasons Evan had decided to hunt high-level magical beasts from the beginning.

Not only could he obtain large amounts of stat points by killing stronger magical beasts, but there was also a chance of obtaining Skill Scrolls and Treasure Orbs.

Evan walked toward the corpse and looked at the enormous body.

He wanted to store the Giant Bull’s corpse inside his Storage Ring, but it was simply too large.

His Storage Ring already didn’t have much space left, and storing such a gigantic corpse would take up a considerable amount of it.

After thinking for a moment, he decided to leave the corpse behind.

But before leaving, he thought about the Mana Core.

When he killed the Steel Bear, he hadn’t had enough time to check its corpse for a Mana Core.

But there was no one around now, so he could carefully inspect the Giant Bull’s body.

Unfortunately, after searching the corpse, Evan couldn’t find any Mana Core, which left him slightly disappointed.

Shaking his head, he didn’t linger there any longer and quickly left.

Once he had traveled far enough away from the corpse, he climbed onto a nearby tree and sat comfortably on one of its thick branches.

He then opened his Status Window and looked at the notifications he had received after the battle.

[You have killed the Unranked Giant Bull — Level 21. You have acquired: +15 Strength, +17 Health, +15 Stamina, +20 Agility, +10 Magic.]

[You have leveled up and reached Level 13. You get +2 Status Points to distribute freely.]

[You have leveled up and reached Level 14. You get +2 Status Points to distribute freely.]

"I got a good amount of stat points and also leveled up three times. Not bad."

Evan nodded in satisfaction after looking at his rewards.

He then took out the Skill Scroll he had obtained from the Giant Bull and examined its details.

And the moment Evan saw the information displayed on his Status Window, his heart began beating faster and faster.

A few seconds later, after completely reading the details, Evan suddenly burst into laughter.

"Looks like the Goddess of Luck is currently giving me all of her blessings."
