Ten days later.
“Where the heck have I been transported to?
Is this still the same country?” Xiao Ling stared at the standalone villa before him, his face the picture of total buffering mode.
Hold on, I said I wanted a bigger place, not a whole damn villa.
Damn rich people…
wait, this was his own family.
Never mind then.
The warm, cozy hand of capitalism.
Xiao Ling turned back to look at Denia.
Today she wore a light pink short-sleeved top with a white gossamer outer layer, paired with light blue denim shorts and black sandals.
Those food-grade gorgeous legs were just out there in the open, seriously eye-catching.
“This place…
it’s way too big…” Denia was also dumbstruck staring at the grand villa before her.
She’d originally figured it would just be a bit more space — enough that both of them would have a bed to sleep in.
But this level of extravagance was a little too much…
She’d thought Xiao Ling had already spent plenty on her, but now she suddenly felt that those expenses couldn’t even touch the spare change of this villa.
“Is this house really ours?” Denia confirmed with Xiao Ling once more.
“By all indications…
yes.” Xiao Ling nodded.
He’d just checked.
This villa’s price was pushing eight figures.
His uncle was a decisive man — bought it just like that.
“Then the beds inside must be really comfortable, right?” Denia looked at the imposing house, yet her focus was entirely on bed comfort levels.
“Why don’t you test them out yourself at noon?” Xiao Ling teased.
“Fine.” Denia replied, then very naturally took Xiao Ling’s hand.
“Let’s go in.
Let’s take a look at our new home.”
The villa’s setup was incredibly luxurious.
You could say it basically had everything — entertainment facilities, a swimming pool, a dining room, plus many separate rooms.
The only downside was probably how remote it was, but for the two of them, this drawback was entirely negligible.
The villa was built on the city outskirts, sparsely populated, and the environment was nice.
If you got up in the morning, you might even hear the birds perched on the tree branches showing off their singing voices.
But Denia clearly didn’t care about anything else.
She scampered up to the second floor and began going room by room, inspecting the comfort level of every bed.
A sudden weight crashed down, sinking into the pristine white goose-down quilt.
Denia buried her head into the covers, feeling as if her whole body had turned soft and squishy.
“If you fall asleep now, no lunch for you, you know?” Xiao Ling watched, somewhat amused, as she was utterly taken captive by the goose-down bed.
“So comfy…
don’t wanna get up…” Denia’s muffled voice emerged from within the covers.
Xiao Ling shook his head helplessly and let her continue lazing in bed, while he himself went to take a look around the rest of the villa.
…
About half an hour later.
“This villa’s really not bad.
The furniture’s pretty complete.
Just need to buy the alcohol, fruits and vegetables, and some appliances myself.”
Xiao Ling sat on the sofa and started using his phone’s memo pad to organize the list of things to buy.The moving company had already packed up his stuff and placed it on the villa’s first floor, along with all the things Denia had just bought.
“Come to think of it, this villa’s seriously huge.
Cleaning’s definitely gonna be a pain…” Xiao Ling lamented.
“If only Little Mo were here.
She could probably rig up some little gadgets to handle the housework.”
Professor Mornye was plenty authoritative when it came to mechanical engineering.
She could preside over the New Solar Ceremony project and the construction of the Drive Replica.
Whipping up a few little robots should be no big deal for her.
“Tch, there I go fantasizing again.
One Denia is already enough of a handful.
If a few more showed up, wouldn’t that just blow the whole damn pot wide open?” Xiao Ling slapped his own dumb head.
If Mornye and the others really had come over too, how would he explain that to his family?
Was he supposed to say they were all his 2D waifus?
His legs would absolutely get broken!
No sooner said than done.
Xiao Ling heaved and ho’d, hauling bags of luggage upstairs.
First he placed all of Denia’s things at the door of the room she was in, then moved all his own stuff into the room at the very end.
Another hour passed…
With the computer letting out a crisp beep of a successful boot-up, Xiao Ling’s luggage organization had officially drawn to a close.
He checked the time again — it was almost noon.
“Aiya, it’s noon already.
Let’s order delivery.” Xiao Ling opened the delivery platform, picked a restaurant that could satisfy both his and Denia’s tastes at the same time, selected a few dishes, and immediately checked out.
Had to say, delivery efficiency was seriously fast.
Not even half an hour had passed before his doorbell was already ringing.
Xiao Ling walked briskly to the entryway and pulled open the front door.
He took the still-warm food from the delivery driver, gave his thanks and slipped the driver a little tip, then brought the delivery back to the living room.
All that commotion just now and Denia hadn’t come out to ask about it.
She was probably sleeping pretty soundly right now.
Xiao Ling’s eyes rolled around craftily for a moment, and he came up with an effective way to wake up the little sleepyhead.
He carried the freshly ordered sweet and sour pork loin, snuck all the way to Denia’s door, and slipped quietly into the room.
Sure enough, the little sleepyhead was curled right up in the covers asleep, hadn’t even taken off her shoes.
He used his chopsticks to pick up a piece of sweet and sour pork loin and slowly brought it close to Denia’s face.
“…Mn…?” The little glutton inside Denia’s body defeated the little sleepyhead, forcibly awakening her from hibernation mode.
“Haaah…” Denia stretched lazily and let out a yawn.
Xiao Ling seized the opening and swiftly stuffed a piece of sweet and sour pork loin into her mouth.
“Mmph?!” Denia stared blankly at Xiao Ling who’d suddenly appeared before her.
The grogginess of just waking up was instantly washed clean by the sweet and sour sensation blooming on her tongue.
“Is it good?” Xiao Ling asked with a smile in his eyes.
“Good.
Just a little hot.” Denia chewed the sweet and sour pork loin and answered quite honestly.
“So can we eat now?”
“Eat!”
…
Two in the afternoon.
After checking and confirming he hadn’t forgotten to bring anything, Xiao Ling left the villa.
Once Denia had eaten her fill, the little sleepyhead had once again gained the upper hand.
Not long after, she’d shrunk right back into her room to sleep, not even giving Xiao Ling the chance to invite her out for the afternoon.
With a change of environment, the long-unused navigation came in handy once again.
Using the GPS, Xiao Ling found the nearest department store and planned to go replenish some daily supplies first.
After switching subway lines a few times, Xiao Ling finally followed the navigation to the department store entrance.
He smoothly commandeered a shopping cart and began searching the department store for the things he needed.
About half an hour later, having done a sweep-style shopping spree through the produce and meat sections, Xiao Ling finally arrived at the next stop of this trip — the condiments aisle.
The shelves were a dazzling array of seasonings.
MSG, salt, and light soy sauce — such ever-ready staples of Chinese cooking — went without saying.
There was also olive oil and béchamel for Western cuisine, plus miso and wasabi for Japanese cooking.
A vast variety, too many to count.
But Xiao Ling’s focus wasn’t here.
His focus was entirely on the beautiful girl ahead of him who was currently picking out seasonings.
Though he could only see her profile, those wine-red eyes and that classic long, straight black hair, along with that couldn’t-be-more-conspicuous black JK uniform, were more than enough to determine the identity of the person before him.
‘Are my eyes playing tricks on me?
Chisa?
What’s she doing here?’ Xiao Ling had a vague bad feeling.
Could it be that his fantasies were actually real?
Or was it a very convincing cosplayer out on a stroll?
At this moment, this beauty who looked exactly like Chisa was looking at the MSG and chicken bouillon in her hands, her brows slightly furrowed, as if deliberating which one to pick.
Out of goodwill, and partly to confirm his suspicions, Xiao Ling decided to offer her some guidance.
So, with steady steps, he walked in the direction of that young woman.
…
Miss Kuchiba Chisa was, for once, in a rare state of befuddlement.
The ability of Eye of Unraveling could help her break through dead-end situations, yet it couldn’t help her tell whether chicken bouillon or MSG was more suitable for cooking.
Japanese cuisine and Chinese cuisine were still very different.
After being suddenly transported to this world, while searching for a way back, she was also trying to get familiar with this place’s new things, including dietary habits.
Ever since her first taste of good stir-fry, this girl had been completely hooked.
Recently she’d been immersed in studying how to make a Chinese-style dish.
“Which one should I pick after all…?” Chisa muttered quietly.
“MSG brings out the natural umami of the ingredients themselves, while chicken bouillon adds a unique flavor to the dish.
Which one to choose depends on what dish you’re making.” A familiar male voice came from her left.
Chisa looked to her side and saw a very familiar profile.
“Sen…!” Chisa got excited and instinctively wanted to cry out, but suddenly remembered this was a public place and quickly held her tongue.
“What a coincidence, Chisa.
You’re here too.” Xiao Ling was now certain.
This was Chisa, the genuine article.
If that was the case, then it probably wasn’t just Denia — other Wuthering Waves characters had very likely crossed over along with her.
“Is Senpai here to pick out condiments too?” Chisa inquired.
“Just moved.
Need to buy some condiments to cook at home.” Xiao Ling replied.
“Delivery might be convenient, but food you cook yourself has more of that taste of home, don’t you think?”
Chisa nodded, showing agreement with this sentiment.
“By the way, besides you, has anyone else suddenly been transported here?” Xiao Ling figured, since their arrival in the real world had already become an established fact, his main task now was ensuring their safety in this world.
“Yes, Senpai.
I’m currently living together with some other classmates.” Chisa answered honestly.
“Who?”
“Aemeath, Linae, and Sigrika.”
Good grief, so the whole Starflame Academy student crew was assembled here?
“Then where are you staying?” Xiao Ling asked, puzzled.
Without him around, how had they found a place to live?
“We were taken in by a kind-hearted old granny.
The house isn’t very big, but the few of us can manage.” Chisa replied.
“As for the expense issue, Linae has a part-time job delivering food.
Sigrika became a zoo tour guide and gets an hourly wage.
And Aemeath got into this world’s livestreaming — I think it’s called…
VTubing?”
‘Wait a sec, how do unregistered people do part-time work and livestreaming?’ Xiao Ling grumbled internally.
“It’s Aemeath’s ability…
theoretically speaking, as long as it’s data-related, she can interfere with it…” Seeming to understand Xiao Ling’s concern, Chisa explained.
‘Alright then.
The advancement of technology wasn’t always entirely a good thing,’ Xiao Ling thought, a bit sweat-dropped.
“Right, do you all have phones right now?
Let’s exchange contact info.
I’ll come find you all later.”
Xiao Ling figured he’d better just gather these girls to his own place first.
Otherwise things would be rather tricky to handle.
After all, everyone together was better.
“Senpai, is that okay?
Won’t we be imposing on you?” Chisa had some reservations.
According to Aemeath’s deductions, the Senpai of this world wasn’t some all-powerful hero — he might just be an ordinary person struggling through life.
“I’ve got a bit of a foundation to stand on.” Xiao Ling simply smoothed over her concerns with composure.
“Then…
shall we exchange contact info first?” Chisa took out her phone.
“I need to get their opinions first.
If it’s alright, I’ll contact Senpai when the time comes.”
“Sure.”
After exchanging contact info, Xiao Ling temporarily chose to bid farewell to Chisa and continue his own shopping trip.
He’d now accepted this somewhat absurd reality.
What he needed to consider now was how to explain things to his own family.
If they found out he’d brought back several more beauties just as stunning as Denia, his legs would probably really get broken.
In any case, take it one step at a time.
After all, the days ahead were still long.
Comment it and let me know.
