Sensing the return of the dorm’s rightful owner, Rover and Megumi instinctively looked back together.

However, this time the Big Golden Retriever was different from before.

Lynae leaned her back against the door, showing an unprecedented sense of confusion.Full novel: Wuthering Waves: Ten Shadows Technique — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Thus, Megumi and Rover stood up together and approached her.

Tap, tap.

It was only when the two of them reached her that Lynae seemed to notice their presence, immediately shifting her mood to speak:

“Ah, you’re here. There weren’t any conflicts, were there?”

Even now, she still found the time to worry about others, despite the obvious anxiety that had been on her face just moments ago.

Megumi and Rover both shook their heads, and then Rover spoke:

“All actions regarding the Remnant Star Society have been reported to the Research Institute; they should be prepared from now on.”

Rover reported the results from her side to Lynae.

It seemed their previous operation had gone smoothly.

“It might be inconvenient for you during this time, so feel free to ask me to handle anything related to the Remnant Star Society.”

Hearing Rover’s words, Lynae shook her head and walked over to the sofa.

“There’s nothing I want to do. Rover, Megumi, just stay and talk with me for a bit.”

After sitting down, she realized her dorm room was a bit messy, and inviting friends in like this felt a little inappropriate.

“Sigh, I really should have tidied up.”

Lynae said as she twirled her hair, looking somewhat embarrassed.

Megumi and Rover simply smiled gently and sat down on either side of her.

Sensing the companionship of her friends, the corners of Lynae’s mouth curled up slightly.

Then they slumped back down.

“I want to talk about myself. I hope you don’t mind me being a chatterbox.”

By the end, Lynae gave a wry smile.

It looked as if she were writing a farewell letter…

Afterward, Lynae began to recount her previous way of survival in the New Federation.

She was a Mercenary in the New Federation with no fixed residence, so to her, the past wasn’t ‘living’—it was merely’survival.’

Until she came to Star-Torch Academy.

She realized there were ways to live other than spending every day in dark corners, and that she could have a lifestyle beyond being constantly accompanied by weapons.

When she first arrived at Star-Torch Academy, she didn’t actually value her life here very much.

She probably had more of a ‘muddle through’ attitude, thinking she’d just enjoy each day as it came. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.

But as she made more and more friends here, and more and more ‘useless’ items piled up in her dorm…

She began to feel reluctant to let go.

Reluctant to leave this place, and unwilling to return to the dark New Federation of her past.

“No wonder you love it here so much.”

Megumi couldn’t help but interject as he listened to Lynae.

He remembered their previous conversation on the road outside the academy.

At that time, when Lynae was introducing the academy to Megumi and Rover, her tone was filled with joy and pride.

“Yeah.”

Lynae didn’t hide her thoughts at all; she nodded firmly, stood up, and reached out toward the window.

“Every day here is happy—painting with abandon, racing and driving without a care, absorbing knowledge from different countries all over the world…”

At the end, Lynae lowered her head slightly, her voice growing heavy.

“In the past, this was something I wouldn’t even dare to dream of.”

Having said that, she looked up again at the’sky’ of Lahai-Roi.

“Even though this is beneath a Frozen Plain, it’s brighter and freer than anywhere else I’ve ever been.”

After speaking, Lynae couldn’t help but smile.

“Whine…”

At that moment, the Jade Dog beside Megumi walked toward Lynae and eventually lay down on the floor.

Feeling the kindness of this furry fellow, Lynae smiled and stroked its smooth fur.

“I want to know, to which ‘Lynae’ do the criminal records in that anonymous report actually belong?” Rover asked.

She was referring to the suspicions of the investigators when the academy sent people to take Lynae away earlier.

As mentioned before, there was also a Lynae in the Remnant Star Society.

So Rover wanted to know if the criminal records the academy found belonged to the one from the Remnant Star Society or to her friend right in front of her…

“They belong to the ‘Lynae’ of the Remnant Star Society.”

Lynae said with her back turned to Rover.

“When I faked my own death to become a student at Star-Torch Academy, my ‘Mercenary’ file was destroyed by the New Federation government.”

Lynae’s words proved her innocence to Rover, but…

“It’s a bit funny looking at it this way—my own records were destroyed, my school records are fake… I can’t even prove that I am me anymore.”

Lynae finally gave a bitter smile.

Her tone was full of helplessness.

Hearing this, Megumi also understood what the outcome of the academy’s investigation into her was. You are reading on g.com, the official source.

Since the current Lynae was carrying the criminal records of the ‘Lynae’ from the Remnant Star Society, the academy would definitely discipline her, or even…

“Just now, I was informed of the academy’s disciplinary decision.”

Lynae said as she slowly walked from the window to the dorm room door.

“Expulsion, and repatriation to the New Federation.”

Having said that, she looked back at Rover and Megumi.

There seemed to be a glimmer of tears in her eyes.

“But I don’t want to go back. So, before I’m forcibly confined by the academy, this is my last chance to escape.”

After speaking, she looked back at the iron door in front of her.

To be honest, Megumi didn’t feel any aversion to Lynae’s choice.

If she stayed and was repatriated to the New Federation, she would likely return to her former survival mode.

It’s hard to go from luxury to frugality; having grown accustomed to the sunshine of Star-Torch Academy, Lynae certainly didn’t want to go back.

“I’m very happy to have met you two as friends, Megumi and Rover.”

Finally, Lynae gave her signature sunny smile.

Just like when she first met Megumi and Rover.

Buzz!

Buzz!

Buzz!

Just as Lynae was about to step out of the dorm door, the dormitory’s loudspeaker suddenly blared.

“Attention all faculty and students! A Void Magnetic Storm reaction has been detected. Please find safe shelter immediately!”

Hearing this voice, Megumi and Rover immediately stood up and looked out the window.

“It’s the Void Worm. It didn’t go to the Research Institute; instead, it’s heading toward the academy,” Rover said with a frown.

This meant she and Lynae had been tricked.

At this moment, almost all of the academy’s defensive capabilities were concentrated at the Research Institute; there was no time to reinforce the academy now.

“We have to lure it away.”

After glancing at the Tacet Mark on her hand, Rover turned toward the dorm door.

“Lynae?”

She discovered that Lynae had already left at some point.
