VWISSH!
“It’s great all four of you can still be here. Well done on your operation involving Hyuganatsu.” The person instructing the room speaks up while turning the holographic board on.
Amaiaruheitō, Si, Shirogane and the remaining members all meet in the room.
Kino is currently unable to be there but he is put on a video call from a laptop.
The holographic board boots up to life, the SDEJ logo pops up.
Supernatural Deterrence of Eminent Jurisdiction, profiles of Hyuganatsu Fuji and his and Okemia’s father Hyuganatsu Jinseikan pops up.
“Ahem, Hyuganatsu Fuji has been eliminated. His body is going through processing, we have not received a word from his family as yet regarding taking his body.”
“But nonetheless for this short operation we did suffer Three casualties, Kino’s group, those that include agent Iokibe Moegi, agent Hifomi Kizuki, and lastly agent Miso Nagi.”
Taking a short breath the person resumes.
“Their bodies are being processed and their families will be notified of it.”
Si raises his hand.
“I have a question, Uwaki!”
“Yes Commander Si?”
“What has become of Fuji’s father Jinseikan?”
Changing the board, Uwaki focuses the Hologram on his profile.
“At the night of his arrest for being somewhat involved in his son’s escapades, while he didn’t know it. He contributed a great amount of resources to what Hyuganatsu Fuji was doing.”
Si closed his eyes and sighed.
“It’ll be sometime before his father comes out, the conviction rate is 99 percent. Tsk, it makes me wonder how he didn’t know what he was funding his son for?”
“No wonder his company went bankrupt.” Amaiaruheitō chimes in.
Shirogane gets up.
“If we really had more resources at that time, we would not have to send three people in a casket back to their families…”
Uwaki changes to board to more important matters.
“Yes, if the outbreak in Adachi didn’t happen we would have been better off. Regarding the outbreak that happened in that part of Adachi city.”
“It has been framed as an earthquake to the media, after all the widespread veil that we covered over it was disrupted a while ago.”
“Commander Shirogane? Would you like to be notified about the damage report?” Uwaki looks at her with a fixed expression.
“To be honest, I have enough dealing with my team right now. I have to go confirm those who joined me in this temporary operation and I have to go see what my squad has been up to.” She sighs.
“It’s been rough but you can send me the report in an email.”
“Very well, will do. Kino do you have any thoughts about everything so far?”
The laptop screen fizzes a bit but a clear voice can be heard.
“No. Nothing at all.”
“Very well you are all dismissed, thank you for your time.” Uwaki turns the board up and gets his laptop in its case.
“Hey Amaiaruheitō.” Si says.
“Yeah? What’s up?”
“You did good with that kid, hopefully he doesn’t have to get involved in these matters.” He responds.
“I know I know. Hopefully they can keep him on smaller assignments, heck I wonder if they can figure him out in the science division.” She just looks disappointed.
Getting up Amaiaruheitō leaves the room, walking out with her hands in her leather jack pocket just with a face of dissonance.
SLAM!
A stack of papers slam on the desk, the large room feels cold.
A group of figures gather around the table.
“General director Ashikaga! What do you want to say about Adachi!” A voice rings out.
“Enough! It’s been a good couple of weeks after that, the situation is being handled by the recovery division of ours. The reports have been fully finalized, I do not wish to speak on that matter.”
Silence fills the room as it falls under his heavy but composed voice.
“Now regarding one of our operations. The completion of getting rid of Hyuganatsu Fuji, the group that did that, I thank them for their brave service.”
He puts his hands together in anticipation.
“Another thing popped up as well, Commander Si reported a whistle blower! He mentioned that Hyuganatsu had some sort of insight of our arrival at his estate.”
The room goes silent for a good while, even the small bickering stops.
“I’d like to add the inclusion of Yanagidate Masashi to that mission, while some of us approved of that decision to see his usefulness.”
Someone near the end of the table shouts out.
“It was a terrible idea! Who knows what would happen if that child lost his will to fight and the Sovereign was unleashed, it could have led to an even more dangerous problem than Hyuganatsu!” Another voice rings out.
Ashikaga sips his coffee.
“He has seemed to prove himself in the raid, from the reports he managed to defeat a powerful hired gun. He managed to stand his ground somewhat against Hyuganatsu as well.”
The people in the room began to break out into discussions, some despising the idea of keeping that boy they should instead just have carried on with his execution. Read the latest chapters at NovelPing.
While some find him being a potential asset, some suggest him as a powerful war asset for his country, some can’t stand the ridiculousness of this situation.
“What do you think of this Kurogane?”
His second in command besides him sighs.
“I find this development quite interesting really. The boy seems to be proving himself even managing to take out a Gurētohasuku, I heard it from Hashimoto Kyo.”
“So I think he’s quite adequate, keeping Kyo to watch over him was the right decision.” She tilts her head, seeming unbothered.
“I see.” Clearing his throat and raising his voice.
“All of you seem to have many thoughts on it, while the boy is clearly useful. We cannot understate the danger he poses, but if he manages to take control of that power I might maybe change my mind. He might become an even bigger threat with it, he might not.”
The room continues into bigger discussions, Ashikaga is frustrated about have a really busy April right now.
“Hey Hashimoto! Where are you?” Amaiaruheitō shouts.
VWISSH!
The door opens up from behind her.
“What the huh?! SAIJOU? Your back?” She turns around in shock.
Punching him in his shoulders she wonders where he has been.
With a constant smile on his face he just chuckles.
“Yeah I just got in from the airport this morning, I’d tell ya that service was on top.”
“Well so much happened! And you went out on your little trip and missed it all.”
“Oh don’t worry Amaiaruheitō, it wasn’t just a little trip. I visited my old friend’s grave in China, I actually had business up there so it wasn’t all for nothing.” He puts his jacket on the door frame while sitting on a chair.
“I see, well Adachi had an outbreak of Kara’s just less than a month ago.”
“Yeah I heard, they were flooding me with notifications when I got on my phone. Also my wife was at my ass, I had to make her a really good meal.” He laughs a bit.
“Hey Saijou… I want to talk about Masashi for a moment.” She speaks up in a more serious tone.
“Speak on.”
“I don’t want him to be on this type of mission, we recently had an operation where we had to take out someone powerful. And he was dragged into because he knew the fathers daughter. Masashi could have died facing what he did.” Her face shifts into one of concern.
“I don’t see him as a member of our squad really, I don’t want him even involved in this”
Saijou thinks about it.
“I understand that, I essentially saved him the day he was brought in by keeping him in my care, actually our care.”
“I only taught him the basics to give him a simple understanding of the world we are in, I didn’t really want to go in depth with his training.”
Saijou gets up.
“But I didn’t want to leave him so defenseless.”
“So is that why you didn’t teach him the basics of what Kara’s are?” She responds with a question.
“Yeah, partly my reason, I just wanted to be able to fight those creatures and not have to worry about the specifications of it.”
“Still I really don’t want him to become a member of this squad, besides I still haven’t gotten over the death of Minori… Tsk, our squad has been only three members since then.” She looks down with emptiness in her eyes.
“I promise, even if the higher ups decide it. Which I don’t think they would, I’ll protect him.” Saijou says with a confident smile.
“Thank you.” Amaiaruheitō speaks up while smiling.
VWISSH!
A door leading to the bathroom opens, Hashimoto exits with a towel wrapped around his waist while he is listening to the music while wearing his favorite pink bear slippers.
“Hashimoto! Hey long time no see!” Saijou shouts out.
“Kyo?! So you’ve been showering this whole time?” She chuckles a bit.
“Get your bald ass dressed and come back out here.”
Hashimoto just shrugs his shoulders before heading towards his personal quarters.
Coming back out after a while he looks slightly taken back at Saijou’s return.
“So you’ve returned Saijou! Where have you been?” Hashimoto speaks while leaning on a bed frame.
“Just overseas to visit a friend’s grave, along with other business I had there.”
“Hey Hashimoto, good work for keeping an eye out on Masashi. It’s really helpful y’know!” Saijou slips back in the chair.
Hashimoto chuckles a bit.
“No problem, the kids have been fine so far. I mean school is out in april so I don’t have to watch him while he walks home. Besides, I find it a break from all the things I’ve been doing.”
“Well you seem like a good baby sister,” Saijou laughs.
“Aha, maybe I am. But that kid really has been doing well despite everything so far.” Hashimoto pauses.
“I guess we should keep him away from what we’ve been doing.”
WHACK!
“Me and Saijou already discussed that!”
“Why’d you slap my head?” He looks a bit stunned.
“Actually nevermind, it didn’t even hurt that much.”
Standing Saijou gives both of them a knuckle sandwich.
“You two really are acting like children, haha I gotta watch you two kids before you go causing Mayhem!”
“Wa? We’re grown adults, and YOU’RE not that much older than Kyo! Who is already an old guy!” Amaiaruheitō shouts.
Hashimoto just shakes his head.
“I’m only 25. What are you talking about… I ain’t that old.”
She laughs as he clicks his teeth in frustration.
“Buuuttt you’re a grandpa to me Kyo.”
Her laughter fills the room as even Saijou takes a chuckle at it.
To their relief they are glad things are going as well as they are, maybe after everything is cleaned up they imagine a nice vacation on the beach.
RAPP!
RAPP!
RAPP!
“Hey kino it’s Si, you in there?”
“You can come in.”
Opening the door, Si sees Kino wrapped in bandages even having a cast on his arm and leg.
“You’ve seen better days.” Si walks up to his bed and leans on the wall crossing his arms.
Kino weakly chuckles despite the situation.
“Ha, yeah I have… Moegi, kizuki and Nagi… Tch if only I was just stronger really. I guess after all these years I don’t have the strength to be a commander, or even lead a squad in that operation.”
“Don’t push yourself too much Kino, that man was dangerous! I think even if me and my squad fought him in your place it would still be a hard fight.”
“I have to thank Amaiaruheitō for fighting alongside me against him. He was an tough opponent, I’ll him that.”
“To be honest, operations like that happen to have the most casualties…” Kino pauses for a moment.
“People always die early in this line of work, but that could be said for any work that results in you getting in harm’s way. I just wished I had the strength to not let them die…”
A moment of silence passes, not one of them talks.
Maybe to mourn or maybe there isn’t much to say.
Si simply looks out the window.
“Hey Si? You remember when we first entered this job? I always wanted to keep up with you, might it be exercising Kara’s, taking up operations that stop terrorist or cult attacks. Heck maybe even the occasional ghost sighting of a Kara.” Kino coughs as he talks.
Si simply smirks.
“Maybe those were simpler times, I didn’t have many responsibilities when I wasn’t a commander. The thought of still being in my early twenties, I think that was the time.”
“Maybe so…. Maybe so.” Kino responds with a faint smile.
“Are you gonna be okay for a few weeks? They might cut your paycheck.”
Kino laughs.
“Even in this state I think I’ll somewhat manage.
“Alright then.” Si places a get well flower inside the Vase that already has a good amount.
“I’ll see you around my old friend.”
Si leaves the room heading out towards his squad, he anticipates he might just have another mission.
After all, in this line of work there really isn’t that much rest.
FWOOSH!
Stepping out of the main doors, a figure cheerfully glides down the stairs.
“Hey Amaiaruheitō!” Hashimoto calls out.
“Are you leaving already?”
“Heh yeah I gotta head home after all, I could use my time over the weekend to have a break.” She walks down the steps of the main headquarters.
“What are you doing for your weekend Kyo?”
“Ah I might visit my siblings for a change of things, It’s been a few months since I last saw them.”
“Well I hope you enjoy your time and maybe your break off.” She waves her hands as she walks to her car.
Whoosh!
“What a breeze!” Flipping her glasses on her face she sits down in her, turning the ignition on before driving away
The Spring breeze blows at her rapidly, the orange sky of the setting sun cascades a glow on to everything.
Summer is just right around the corner.
