The next morning, the sky over the city felt calmer than it had in weeks.

The chaos of battles, raids, and bloodshed was gone—at least for now.

Touya stood in a quiet, friendly-looking neighborhood, surrounded by rows of brick houses and clipped hedges.Full novel: Yashin: Echoes of Greatness — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It was the kind of place that didn’t seem like it had any business being in the same world as warlords and phantoms.

Touya pulled out his phone and dialed.

“Griffith.

Guess what?

I’m in your neighborhood.”

A pause, then laughter came through the line.

“No way.

You’re lying.”

“Come outside and find out.”

A minute later, a boy walked out from one of the houses.

Sixteen, sharp eyes behind glasses, hoodie pulled over messy blond hair.

Even in person, Griffith looked more like the kind of kid you’d see in a coding competition than someone who could hack military satellites.

He blinked, staring at Touya.

“…You don’t look anything like I pictured.”

Touya smirked.

“Neither do you.

Taller than I thought—but still just a kid.”

“Stop calling me that,” Griffith muttered, trying not to grin.

A year ago, the two had met online.

Touya was sixteen then, Griffith fifteen.

They’d clicked instantly—gaming, late-night arguments about the world, trading wild ambitions.

But one night, Touya had said something that had frozen Griffith in place:

“I’m gonna be the King of this world.”

Griffith had laughed nervously.

“That’s ambitious.”

Touya leaned closer to his screen.

“A king has an army.

Armies have knights.

So, Griffith… wanna be my first knight?

The Knight of Europe?”

Back in the present, standing face to face, Griffith shoved his hands in his pockets.

“So, what’s a knight supposed to do, anyway?”

Touya’s tone grew businesslike.

“Got something to tell you your mission for one year, listen carefully” he’s face serious,

“You’ll be in charge of monitoring crimes and government activity across Europe—and beyond.

With your skills, you can tap into systems the UN itself thinks are untouchable.

I’ll add you to a private group where each continent’s knight will collect links and intel from you.

From there, they’ll oversee their regions.

If anything serious happens, it goes up the chain—back to me, through the acting Phantom bosses.”

Griffith blinked.

“Wait… you’ve got connections to the Phantoms?”

Touya chuckled.

“Connections?

I’m their boss.”

For a moment, Griffith just stared at him.

Then his lips curled into a smirk.

“…Of course you are”

“Using your skills you’ll send all the info on the war that is to come, across to the other knights which they’ll send anonymously to different countries to protect them”

Griffith looked confused then asked “what war?” Touya answered with dead seriousness in his eyes “World war 3”

Griffith nearly fell but got his balance and said “I’ll do my best”

Touya smiles and said “I know you will.”

Touya pulled something out of his jacket—an engraved card, simple but heavy with meaning.

On it was written one word: Prime.

“Your code name.

Prime.

The Knight of Europe.

Griffith took it, turning it over in his hand.

His grin widened.

“Knight of Europe, huh?

Has a nice ring to it.

Fine—I’ll take the title.

But don’t regret making me first.

I’ll be better than anyone else you recruit.”

Touya laughed, clapping him on the shoulder.

“Good.

A King’s first knight should be the cockiest one of all.”

They spent a while talking about little things—games, mutual jokes, the kind of dumb conversations that reminded them of when they were just two kids on opposite sides of the world, vibing on the internet.

But the undertone was different now.

Things had shifted.

This wasn’t just friendship anymore—it was the first official step in building an army.

At last, they parted ways at the corner of the street.

Griffith raised the card in farewell.

“Prime.

Knight of Europe.

Got it.”

Touya smirked.

“Don’t forget—you said it yourself.

Be better than the rest.

I’ll hold you to that.”

As Griffith disappeared back into the neighborhood, Touya glanced at the sky, thinking about the path ahead.

One knight down.

Many more to go.

The army of the future had just taken its first breath.

The sun was setting when the time finally came.

The children rescued from the facility were gathered in a temporary safehouse, waiting to be reunited with their families.

Interpol agents moved in and out of the room, clipboards in hand, faces tired but relieved.

Amy sat quietly by the window, hugging her knees.

She hadn’t spoken much since they’d escaped.

Trauma still lingered in her eyes, but whenever Touya entered the room, she’d straighten a little, like his presence alone gave her courage.

When her name was called, she froze.

A couple stepped forward—her parents.

They looked exhausted, faces lined with worry, but the moment Amy saw them, her eyes brimmed with tears.

She rushed forward, nearly tripping over her own feet as she threw herself into their arms.

Her mother clutched her tightly, sobbing into her hair.

“Amy… my baby…”

Her father’s arms wrapped around both of them, voice breaking.

“You’re safe now.

You’re safe.”

Touya stood back, arms folded, watching the reunion quietly.

He wasn’t one for these sentimental moments, but something about the rawness of it tugged at him.

Tom stood nearby, glancing at Touya with a knowing expression, though he said nothing.

After a few minutes, Amy turned, still holding her mother’s hand.

She wiped her eyes and walked toward Touya.

Her steps were shaky, but her gaze was steady.

“…Mister Touya,” she said softly.

“Thank you.

For saving me.”

Touya tilted his head, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

“Sure thing.

What’s your name again?”

“Amy.

Amy McGuire.”

He nodded. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.

“Amy McGuire, huh?

Nice name.

I’m Kojiro Touya.”

She hesitated, then asked, “Will I… see you again?”

Touya crouched a little, patting her head gently.

“The world’s a big place, Amy.

But who knows?

If fate wants us to, we’ll meet again.

Until then, live your life.

Don’t waste the second chance you’ve been given.”

Amy’s lower lip trembled, but she nodded firmly.

“I will.”

Her parents called her, and she ran back into their arms.

The agents escorted them out, preparing them for the journey home.

Touya stayed at the doorway, watching as Amy climbed into the train with her family.

She pressed her face against the window, waving frantically.

Touya lifted a hand in return, his smile faint but real.

Tom stood beside him.

“You’ve changed, you know.”

Touya shrugged.

“Maybe.

Or maybe I just don’t like seeing kids locked in chains.”

The train hissed, steam rising as it pulled away from the platform.

Amy’s small hand remained pressed against the glass until the train was nothing but a blur in the distance.

For a long moment, Touya didn’t move.

Then he exhaled softly.

“Goodbye, Amy McGuire.”

The station grew quiet again.

Two days later, the base camp was dismantled.

The rescued children who hadn’t yet been reunited with families were transferred to Interpol’s protective custody.

The agents packed up crates of confiscated weapons, sealed reports, and salvaged tech.

Europe’s skies were heavy with gray clouds, as though the land itself understood it was time to move on.

Touya stood at the runway, Blue perched in the distance like a guardian beast watching over its rider.

The massive Talcon shook its wings, sending gusts of wind across the tarmac, before finally folding them down.

Blue wouldn’t be leaving with Interpol—he would follow Touya on his own terms.

Inside the transport jet, laughter echoed.

Agents were talking over each other, trading stories of survival, their faces tired but full of relief.

Some raised glasses of water like they were drinking champagne, celebrating simply being alive.

Tom leaned against the cabin wall, arms folded, letting the younger agents enjoy themselves.

He wasn’t one for parties, but the faint smile on his face showed he didn’t mind.

Touya sat quietly by the window, eyes fixed on the shrinking skyline of Europe.

In just one week, this continent had become a battlefield of blood, secrets, and unexpected bonds.

He thought of Amy waving from the train, of Kyle driving away with his Phantoms, of Griffith’s grin as he accepted his title as Prime, the Knight of Europe.

A simple mission brought about a clash with the genera of phantoms, a battle against mythical creatures and mutants, children and The Knight” he smiled

“Goodbye, Europe,” Touya murmured under his breath.

As the jet engines roared to life, Tom glanced at him.

“Something on your mind?”

Touya smirked faintly.

“Just… tying loose ends.

I’ll be back someday.

When the time’s right.”

The plane lifted off the runway, climbing into the clouded sky.

The agents cheered, raising their voices in unison.

Touya leaned back, closing his eyes as memories of the past week replayed—each fight, each face, each choice.

He said to himself “I’ve had a tough week, but the true battle starts now”

The plane carrying the survivors of a battle, the encounter with the general, fight of a hundred phantoms , battle against mutatated insects, scorpions, bulls and a mythical creature, they all looked back all happy to be alive.

Tom shouts “Be proud we survived and now we return back to base”

Everyone shouts for joy and they fly over the clouds the sun setting on the characters in the story that took place in Europe
