When the police officers rushed in, Jiang Yan and Mu Wanzhou were reviewing the formal contract. If everything checked out, they were about to sign it.

Both of them were startled. They didn’t understand what was going on.

Then Yu Youwei followed behind the officers and entered. Her eyes were red as she stared at Jiang Yan and Mu Wanzhou with fury.Full novel: You Chose Your White Moonlight, So Why Are You Crying When I Called Off the Proposal? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Seeing her, Jiang Yan’s heart filled with anger. He had tried to give her a dignified way out, yet she still clung to him. Fine, if she insisted on this, then he didn’t need to care anymore.

Jiang Yan said, “Yu Youwei, what are you doing again!”

Yu Youwei raised her head and glared back without backing down. “You flirted with another woman behind my back. Do you think I’m easy to bully? Jiang Yan, I won’t allow you to be with this woman.”

Jiang Yan’s face darkened. What he and Mu Wanzhou were doing was a proper business meeting, but Yu Youwei insisted on calling it an affair.

He couldn’t afford to argue with this foolish woman now, or he’d fall into her trap. So, he politely turned to the officers at the door and said, “Officers, as you can see, I’m in my company discussing business with a client. What law have I broken?”

The two officers were stunned. This situation was completely different from how Yu Youwei had described it. She had claimed that some woman was seducing her boyfriend and that they were doing unspeakable things in a room together. Since she was arguing with her boyfriend and couldn’t enter, she asked for police help.

But the woman she spoke of turned out to be Mu Wanzhou from the Mu Group!

As mere police officers, they didn’t dare offend Mu Wanzhou, nor did they want to get involved in the drama between these people.

One of the officers spoke awkwardly, “Miss Yu, what you described doesn’t match the actual situation.”

Yu Youwei, blinded by rage, shouted, “How does it not match? A man and a woman alone in a sealed office! It’s a good thing I got here in time to save Jiang Yan. Who knows what would’ve happened otherwise…”

Jiang Yan shook his head in exasperation. This was completely unreasonable.

At that moment, Mu Wanzhou, who had remained silent, stood up and leaned against Jiang Yan’s chest with a smile. “What an eye-opener. As expected of the Yu family’s daughter, you’ve got some business sense, but as a woman… you’re absolutely foolish. Tsk tsk.”

She was clearly doing it for Yu Youwei to see.

Sure enough, Yu Youwei trembled in anger.

“Jiang Yan, push her away!” she cried.

Jiang Yan hadn’t intended to have physical contact with Mu Wanzhou, but hearing Yu Youwei’s words, he snorted coldly.

He changed his mind.

If Mu Wanzhou could make Yu Youwei back off and stop pestering him, it was worth trying.

Jiang Yan looked at Yu Youwei coldly. “Just as you wished. Yes, I do have some admiration for Miss Mu. But I only started after we broke up. Yu Youwei, I was with you for five years. I never crossed the line emotionally, never wronged you. Now I’m single. Can’t I fall in love again?”

“You!” Yu Youwei was so angry she could hardly breathe.

She pointed a trembling finger at Mu Wanzhou, her face full of disbelief. “I don’t believe it! Just a few days ago, you said you loved me. That you’d love me forever, never leave me! Were those all lies?”

“What does she have that I don’t?” Get faster updates on g.com.

Jiang Yan said coldly, “She doesn’t have a white moonlight.”

Yu Youwei’s face instantly turned pale. She couldn’t argue with that.

Mu Wanzhou leaned sweetly into Jiang Yan’s side, looking pleased. “Junior, I’m taking your words seriously.”

Yu Youwei clenched her fists tightly. Her tears had already started flowing, and they streamed down uncontrollably.

Her emotions overwhelmed her, making it hard to breathe. Her chest heaved rapidly, but her gaze never left Jiang Yan.

The officers scratched their heads awkwardly. This was clearly a personal matter, outside their jurisdiction.

One officer glanced at Yu Youwei and warned, “Since it’s your first offense, we’ll just give you a verbal warning. If you report a false alarm again, we’ll have to detain you under administrative law.”

Then he turned to Jiang Yan and Mu Wanzhou, speaking softly and respectfully, “Mr. Jiang, Miss Mu, sorry about this. We had to respond to the report. Everything seems fine here. Sorry to disturb you.”

Jiang Yan nodded and said, “I understand. Thank you for your work.”

“Then we’ll take our leave.”

With that, the two officers quickly exited the awkward situation.

Meanwhile, the staff, sensing the tense atmosphere, had already escaped to the adjacent office and were now secretly listening in through the wall.

Now, only Jiang Yan, Mu Wanzhou, and Yu Youwei remained in the office.

Yu Youwei was still sobbing, unable to speak.

Jiang Yan looked at her, seeing her resentful and stubborn expression. He sighed and said, “You got what you wanted. Are you satisfied now?”

Mu Wanzhou laughed and said, “Miss Yu, if he’s not yours to keep, he was never meant to be yours. Your forever love should’ve stayed by your side. Isn’t Bai Luo still with you? You two are perfect together!”

“Shut up!” Yu Youwei glared at Mu Wanzhou with fury.

Jiang Yan shouted angrily, “Yu Youwei!”

His voice filled with rage, he said, “Do you think you’re still the naive little girl from five years ago? You need to take responsibility for what you say now. No one will tolerate you anymore. Will you leave on your own, or do I have someone throw you out?”

Looking at the man in front of her, who now felt like a stranger, Yu Youwei felt time blur.

Just a moment ago, he had looked at her with such affection, said he loved her. And now, he was cold and cruel, without a trace of emotion.

At last, Yu Youwei broke down.

Her fingers turned pale as she held on, forcing herself to stand. With the last of her strength, she screamed from the depths of her soul, “Fine! Break up it is! You’ll regret this! Don’t even think about me forgiving you again!”

She turned and walked out.

But she hadn’t taken more than a few steps when everything caught up with her—stomach pain, no breakfast, low blood sugar, extreme emotional stress…

She collapsed right at the door.

“Ah!” someone exclaimed.

The staff who had been watching came out, looking at each other, then all turned to Jiang Yan, waiting for his reaction.

Jiang Yan stared silently at Yu Youwei, now lying on the floor.

He wasn’t sure if she was faking it or had really fainted.

But she collapsed in his company. If anything happened and he ignored it, the Yu family would definitely hold him accountable.

Jiang Yan called over Shen Qing and said, “Call 120. Notify her family. Also, we’re not covering the hospital expenses.”

“Understood, Mr. Jiang.”

Ten minutes later, the emergency services arrived.

The paramedics wheeled in a stretcher from the elevator. After placing Yu Youwei on it, one of them asked, “Is anyone going with her to the hospital?”

Shen Qing stood to the side and said, “No one from our side will go. I’ve informed her family—they’ll be there to take care of her.”

The doctor nodded and said, “Alright. Her family can come to Second City Hospital then.”

“Got it.” Shen Qing escorted the medical staff to the door.

Jiang Yan sat back down and completed the signing of the pending investment contract with Mu Wanzhou.

After everything was in order, it was almost lunchtime.

Mu Wanzhou winked at Jiang Yan and said, “Junior, how about lunch together?”

Jiang Yan frowned, pinching the bridge of his nose, and said tiredly, “Another day. I’m drained today. I don’t have the energy to join you for lunch, Miss Mu.”

Mu Wanzhou didn’t push it. “Alright then. Don’t forget what you said.”

Then she swayed her hips gracefully and walked out of the office with a bright smile.
