“Vroom—”

Blinding sparks flew from beneath the tires.

On the dimly lit road, a blue and a red D-Wheel successively peeled out from the bend, leaving behind dark tire tracks that constantly crisscrossed.Full novel: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds: Duelists Beyond Light — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Field Spell Activate—Speed World!!”

The flamboyant red D-Wheel user impatiently shouted at Yusei.

“Come on, since you’ve brought out your D-Wheel, you must want to Duel with me, right?!”

“In that case, stop dawdling and let’s get this started!!”

“Your D-Wheel and Deck, I’m taking them both!”

An icy blue light only appeared halfway, merely surrounding the red D-Wheel, but there was no change on Yusei’s side.

Normally, only Security D-Wheels from **Sector Security** can force a target into a Duel.

Between regular D-Wheels, the Duel can only truly begin after both sides activate the Field Spell Card—Speed World.

Yusei wasn’t eager to accept the challenge.

While continuing to drive his D-Wheel ahead and flee, he responded against the raging wind, “I can accept this Turbo Duel, but if you lose, you have to promise to let **Devitt** and Rali go!!”

“Tch!” The D-Wheel user spat, sneering, “Do you know what happened between me and **Devitt**?

And you dare make such a demand!

What’s more, what that kid Rali stole today wasn’t just some ordinary thing, otherwise we wouldn’t bother sending a bunch of people to chase after him!”

Yusei’s gaze turned cold: “If you want me to bet my D-Wheel and Deck, you must agree to this condition!

And, you have to return the parts you stole from the factory!”

“Hehehe!

Quite the big talk indeed!!” The D-Wheel user ostentatiously lifted the front of his D-Wheel, accelerating to Yusei’s side.

“But this great one accepts!

Just don’t come kneeling on the ground, wiping away tears and begging for mercy when you’ve lost even your underwear!”

Yusei no longer replied.

At the moment the two D-Wheels drew parallel, he pressed a button on his D-Wheel.

The icy blue field finally enveloped both of them entirely, and everything around them rapidly transformed into a virtual grid-like environment!

“Field Spell—Speed World activating…”

“Duel Mode Switched!

Auto-Pilot Ready!”

“Turbo Duel Stand By!!!”

A sharp electronic synthesized sound rang from his helmet, and special circuit markings simultaneously appeared on the visor glass.

The first time he Dueled **Trudge**, Yusei didn’t notice that marker because it was his first time driving a D-Wheel, but now he clearly did.

According to the English prompt on his helmet, he learned a very important piece of information—the Duelist who crosses that line first will gain the first turn!

“But…

under auto-pilot, manual control is almost impossible…”

“In this situation, can we only compete based on D-Wheel configurations?”

Yusei pondered inwardly, but suddenly a gust of wind swept past from the side!

That red D-Wheel user, like a meteor, had already shot ahead.

He controlled his D-Wheel in manual mode while roaring loudly:

“Hahahahaahah!”

“So you’re just a rookie?”

“Seeing as this is your last time driving a D-Wheel, this great one will mercifully tell you!”

“No fool activates auto-pilot mode right from the start!”

“Because, the struggle for the first turn depends on the rider themselves!!!”

As he spoke, he had already proudly seized the first turn, and with a “shwing,” he drew his Cards, launching his offense:

“The first turn is mine!”

“Draw!”

“I Summon—Infernity Archfiend in Defense Position!”

“I Set one Card, turn end!”

The moment the Standby Phase began, the increase in Speed Counters caused his D-Wheel’s speed to surge.

Two Cards were played in quick succession.

Like a phoenix, an ancient winged dragon, its entire body ablaze with flames, flew out from the light.

[FIRE Attribute/Dinosaur Type]

[ATK/DEF: 800/1500]

Infernity…

Yusei’s gaze darkened, and his expression grew serious.

Sure enough, this guy was using an “Infernity” series Deck!

In this **Satellite**, where even Duel Cards are extremely rare, obtaining a Deck with such specific archetypes is incredibly difficult.

This wild, fiery-red D-Wheel user is probably not just an underground gang member; he most likely has other identities!

“Whoosh—”

Seeing his opponent gradually pull away, Yusei immediately drew Cards and caught up by accumulating Speed Counters.

But even though both of them had the same number of Speed Counters, Yusei’s speed was still a little slower.

Earlier, when he Dueled **Trudge**, he could clearly feel that his D-Wheel’s speed was slower.

Now, encountering other D-Wheel users, this equipment disadvantage became even more apparent.

However…

In a Turbo Duel, the D-Wheel’s speed shouldn’t have a significant impact, right?

Yusei held onto a sliver of hope, but he couldn’t be entirely sure.

After all, from a design perspective, speed couldn’t possibly have no effect on a Turbo Duel.

It might just be that the anime original didn’t heavily emphasize it.

At the same time, during the last battle, **Trudge** mentioned a crucial term—”Differential Victory.” Yusei didn’t know what this concept meant, but literally, it could very well be about defeating the opponent through a massive speed difference!

Out of caution, he didn’t entirely give up chasing his enemy.

If given the chance, he would definitely try his best to catch up to his opponent, even overtake them!

“My turn!

Draw!” Yusei swung out a Card, shouting, “I Summon—Barrel Dragon in Attack Position!”

“Effect activate!

When this Card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned successfully, target one Card on your opponent’s field to activate!”

“Perform two coin tosses.

If both tosses are heads, destroy the targeted Card!”

“Targeting your Monster Card—Infernity Archfiend!”

[Barrel Dragon]

[Level 4]

[DARK Attribute/Machine-Type]

[ATK/DEF: 1700/200]

“Clink-clink—”

Two silver coins fell from either side of Yusei’s D-Wheel, bouncing and spinning for a few rotations before one landed heads up, and the other tails up.

“Hahahaha!

Trying to beat me with luck?” The D-Wheel user loudly mocked.

“Too bad, you don’t seem to be very lucky, huh!”

“Tch!” Yusei continued to play Cards, “I activate Speed Spell Card—SP・Speed Down Gear!”

“Then, banish this Spell Card from the Graveyard!”

“Special Summon from Hand—Magical Striker!”
