Before the starting line, Yusei carefully adjusted his helmet strap, while nearby, Trudge skillfully pressed a button, and a protective visor descended from his gray-white helmet.
“Heh, ready, trash?!” Trudge sneered arrogantly, then waved his arm and slammed a button on his D-Wheel.
“But even if you’re not ready, this officer won’t give you any more time to stall!!”
“Hunting is hunting, and trash is trash!”
“Let this moment be the start of your desperate escape!!”
“Let’s go!!”

The entire world seemed to shrink, leaving almost only the two riders and a winding racetrack!!

Yusei, familiar with the original work, understood perfectly: in a Turbo Duel, the speed of D-Wheels is closely related to the number of Speed Counters (SPC).
The higher the SPC count, the faster the D-Wheel.
Some professional-grade D-Wheels, upon reaching twelve SPC, can even achieve top speeds approaching four hundred kilometers per hour!
As for how Duelists gain SPC, aside from using “Speed” series Spell/Trap Cards, they also rely on natural growth each turn.
During each Duelist’s Standby Phase, their D-Wheel automatically gains one Speed Counter.
Trudge’s sudden increase in speed came from this.

Trudge roared as he slammed down the Card.
A wave of energy instantly surged towards Yusei behind him.
As the bright light swept past, the Necro Guardian, originally in Defense Position, was forcibly switched to Attack Position.
“I Normal Summon another Monster in Attack Position!” Trudge shouted.

The fierce heavy cannon sounds roared as two fiery red tracers flew straight towards Yusei’s Monster.
Just as the cannon shells were about to explode, Yusei revealed his Set Card, launching a counterattack.
The Necro Guardian, originally slightly inferior to Assault Dog, suddenly surged with battle power.
After dodging the shells, it smashed Trudge’s Monster into fragments with a single powerful punch!!

The shattered Card dissolved into flowing light across the ground, and was then crushed by the speeding D-Wheels.
Amidst the strong winds, a Card stood up.
Yusei shouted: “Trap Card activate—Battle Waltz!!”
“This Card allows one Monster on my Field to gain 700 ATK until the End Turn!!”
“After receiving this Card’s boost, Necro Guardian’s ATK barely surpassed Assault Dog’s!!”

But Trudge smirked triumphantly: “Heh heh, but this way, the outcome is even more to my liking!”
“Assault Dog’s effect activates!
When this Card is Destroyed by Battle, I can Special Summon another Assault Dog from my Deck!!”
“This officer’s attack isn’t over yet, scum!!”
“Assault Scout, attack Necro Guardian!!”
“Two Assault Dogs, direct attack!!!”
