Duelist League, Level 4 League, Shen District venue.
<QIANQUEGONG> VS <BIANYUELONG>
The music shook the entire venue, cheers erupted in waves, and dazzling fireworks bloomed in brilliant colors, lighting up the entire arena.
The audience waved fortress flags and held up banners, cheering and shouting with excitement.
“8000!”
Commentator Hong Mi jumped straight out of his chair!
He held the microphone, veins bulging from his neck!
“King of the Skull Servants!
An ATK of 8000!”
That roar of his nearly blew the roof off!
The audience got even more hyped.
Each one was like they’d been injected with adrenaline, screaming wildly!
“Insane!”
“Too fierce!”
“Who could possibly survive this?!”
“Bianyuelong is done for!”
“Qianquegong, crush them!”
“King of the Skull Servants!
King of the Skull Servants!
King of the Skull Servants!”
One guy was so excited his wig flew off.
Next to him, a lady sprayed melon seed shells all over the neck of the guy in front.
The moment <King of the Skull Servants> launched its attack, the atmosphere in the dueling arena reached a climax.
“Hahaha!” The one controlling the Skull Servant Deck, Wang Gu, laughed wildly with his head thrown back, eyes gleaming with fervor.
“Did you see that?
This is the power of the Skull Servants!”
Bianyuelong’s duelist Jiang Yan stared wide-eyed in terror.
With a desperate look, he turned toward their team’s rest area and said in a trembling voice, “I…”
Their captain, Qin Dongzhu, had gone pale, lips trembling, unsure of what to say.
In the end, he simply closed his eyes in helpless silence.
The league was just this brutal.
It all came down to one phrase:
If you’re weak, you get beat.
Another team member, Lin Yu, couldn’t hold back.
He shouted angrily at Wang Gu and the opposing rest area, “Don’t take it too far!”
“Jiang Yan’s hand is revealed, have some decency!”
Jiang Yan’s field was fully exposed, no defensive options left, and his Life Points were just 1400.
His <Mighty Slugger> only had 2300 ATK.
<King of the Skull Servants> only needed 4000 ATK to land the kill.
But Wang Gu insisted on doing a bunch of flashy plays to inflate <King of the Skull Servants>’s ATK even higher, just to hype things up.
It made the crowd even more frenzied, and boosted his fame.
There was a transparent barrier between the rest area, the spectator stands, and the dueling arena, it wouldn’t be lifted until the duel ended.
So Wang Gu actually couldn’t hear anything from outside.
He simply stared directly at Jiang Yan, savoring the fear on his opponent’s face.
“Yes, yes, yes, that’s the expression I wanted!”
“Hahaha———–” You are reading on g.com, the official source.
“<King of the Skull Servants>!”
“Attack, <U.A.
Mighty Slugger>!”
“Die!”
<King of the Skull Servants> raised its claws high and lunged at <Mighty Slugger> with a maniacal laugh.
Blazing white light engulfed the entire dueling arena.
A shrill, blood-curdling scream rang out as <Mighty Slugger> was torn to shreds, scattering into countless points of starlight.
Jiang Yan was blasted back several meters by the shockwave, slamming into the barrier.
His Life Points dropped to zero instantly, and a jarring electric shock exploded across his body.
“AAAH———-!” Jiang Yan screamed sharply, collapsing to his knees in agony.
<WINNER: BLUE SIDE>
The cold, mechanical voice of the AI referee echoed through the dueling arena, and the audience erupted once more.
The barrier was withdrawn, and a medical robot came onto the stage, lifting Jiang Yan onto a stretcher.
“Jiang Yan!” Qin Dongzhu, Lin Yu, and the two female teammates, Tang Xin and Mu Ningning, rushed forward in panic.
“What’s Jiang Yan’s condition?!”
The medical robot performed a brief scan and replied in a frigid tone:
[Third-degree burns to the skin.
Ventricular fibrillation.
Permanent nerve damage.]
[No immediate threat to life, but———-]
[He will no longer be able to participate in the Duelist League.]
“Unable to participate again…”
At those words, every member of Bianyuelong instantly went pale, frozen in place.
“You son of a b*tch!” Lin Yu spun around and glared at Wang Gu on the stage, veins bulging as he clenched his fists and prepared to charge.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” Qin Dongzhu snapped, cutting him off with a low growl.
“You want to make things worse than they already are?!”
Lin Yu regained a sliver of composure, but the rage still burned in his chest.
If he weren’t already “eliminated”, he would’ve strapped on his Duel Disk and gone up there to slice Wang Gu down himself.
The Duelist League is a 5v5 team match.
Including substitutes, each team can have a maximum of six members, but only five may participate in a match.
Anyone who’s already lost can’t return to the field.
“Godd*mn it…” Lin Yu gritted his teeth, struggling to contain his fury.
“If your skills aren’t enough, what’s there to say?” Qin Dongzhu muttered, fists clenched tight, eyes burning with rage.
He walked to the host’s platform and spoke in a low voice: “Requesting a timeout.”
The host pressed a red button, and a mechanical broadcast sounded: [BIANYUELONG HAS ACTIVATED THEIR TIMEOUT]
[09:59]
Each team may only call one timeout per match, lasting 10 minutes.
“Boo———-” The Blue Side of the stands jeered at Bianyuelong’s rest area.
The Red Side looked worried and tense.
Bianyuelong had already lost the momentum, both in morale and battlefield position.
Score: 2–3.
Bianyuelong was behind by one point.
But the problem wasn’t that single point.
Qin Dongzhu returned to the rest area, his expression grave. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
“Captain…” Tang Xin and Mu Ningning hesitated to speak, their voices laced with fear.
Bianyuelong’s real problem was this:
The last two remaining core players, both of their female team members, were afraid.
How could they not be?
After witnessing what happened to Jiang Yan…
That madman Wang Gu had selected Pain Level 8 for the duel.
It wouldn’t be fatal, but there was a high chance of being bedridden for some time.
“I’ll go.” Mu Ningning said, taking a deep breath, as if steeling herself for something.
“Mu Ningning, requesting to enter the match.”
At this point, it was either her or Tang Xin.
Tang Xin was a rookie, already lacking experience, she wouldn’t be able to handle this kind of pressure.
Qin Dongzhu felt as if a mountain were pressing down on him, making it hard to breathe.
After Bianyuelong ran into financial trouble, they couldn’t afford a coach anymore, so the Captain had to take over the BP and decide the lineup himself.
“No.
You can’t go up.” Qin Dongzhu rejected Mu Ningning’s request.
“We can lose the match.
Worst case, we win it back next time.
But we can’t afford to lose another person.”
“Send in the substitute!”
His eyes flashed with sharp determination as he suddenly stood and walked over to the bench.
Besides the two remaining core players, their team had prepared one special substitute.
A Numbered Citizen duelist named Nana.
“What’s her test result?” Qin Dongzhu asked the two personnel in charge of her evaluation.
Nana had never shown any issues.
The real concern was the Deck.
Mickey, a tester from the Soul Binding Department, shrugged and said, “Seems fine.”
“More or less.” added another tester, Le Tong, with a slight smile.
“Cut the vagueness, can she go or not?
Give me a clear answer!” Qin Dongzhu barked.
“We can’t afford a loss right now!”
“Just try it.” Mickey replied casually.
“Nana, you’re up!”
A light flared in Nana’s previously vacant eyes.
She smoothly pulled out the test Deck and slotted it into her Duel Disk.
The moment it connected to the system, something eerie happened.
A wisp of black smoke seeped out of the test Deck.
Like a venomous snake, it slithered up Nana’s arm, crawled over her shoulder, and spread to her chest.
“AAAH———-!”
Blood vessels burst in Nana’s eyes.
She clutched her chest in agony, shrieking, then collapsed to the ground, convulsing violently.
“What the heck?!” Qin Dongzhu jumped in shock, instinctively taking a step back.
Mickey didn’t even flinch.
As if used to it, he calmly waved his hand toward the distance and called out in a flat tone, “Doctor.”
