“The hidden card in hand is <Spirit of Yubel>!” Zi Cai shouted, “Player Qing Ji was careless!”

“First time facing a new Deck, lacks experience!”

Fans of Bianyuelong stood up again, screaming: “It’s been blocked!”Full novel: Yu-Gi-Oh!: Twin Shadows — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

To judge a duelist’s level, you can roughly use three criteria: <Deck Construction>, <Operation>, and <Awareness>.

Awareness means knowing to play against <Brand> and counter <Brand Fusion>, counter Pendulums with their <Heavymetalfoes Electrumite>, setting up defenses against drops, clearing before attacks or setting up counters, and so on.

When two duelists play the same Deck, the operations are basically fixed, and the Deck constructions are similar.

But awareness can be worlds apart.

This is why, in ranking events like KC, DC, MC, the top duelists often have those few “B” IDs.

Precious awareness is gained from countless battles, ingrained as instinct in their DNA.

Even Qing Ji, though she confirmed all the effects of <Spirit of Yubel> before the match.

When facing <Yubel> for the first time, she didn’t form awareness that quickly.

Her limited attention was fully on the damage reflection of <Pain> and the graveyard effects of <Yubel> monsters.

“This is bad.” Qing Ji thought grimly.

<Spirit of Yubel> can’t be destroyed by battle and doesn’t take battle damage.

“Can’t finish him off.”

She frowned slightly, pursed her lips, and said, “I End my Battle Phase.”

<INVALID DECLARATION>

The AI referee’s cold voice rang out.

“Hm?

Why?!” Qing Ji looked puzzled.

Also due to lack of awareness, she forgot some things.

She slowly looked up, locking eyes with Li Guanqi, and felt a chill all over.

“<Nightmare Pain> is on the field.” Li Guanqi raised a smile.

“As long as I have a <Yubel> monster on my field, the opponent’s monsters that can attack must attack the <Yubel> monster.”

“Hahaha.”

“Come on!”

“Let’s see your love!”

“Forced Attack.” Qing Ji’s eyes widened again.

She slowly recalled, it seemed there was such an effect.

“Heh———” <Spirit of Yubel> let out a seductive laugh.

<Hydra>’s eyes flashed a dazzling red light, her body twisting irregularly, then losing control, baring fangs as she charged at <Spirit of Yubel>.

“<Nightmare Pain> also forces attack!” Zi Cai shouted excitedly, “Three monsters forced to attack, a huge comeback!”

Originally, it was a desperate moment facing attacks from three monsters.

Just a small extra step of Special Summoning <Spirit of Yubel> led to a complete reversal! You are reading on g.com, the official source.

“Think of something, Qing Ji!” Qianquegong’s Coach shouted loudly through the barrier.

If they got beaten by a random numbered citizen, this coach would be finished.

“Think.

Think.” Qing Ji frantically looked around the duel disk’s various zones.

When she saw her hand, her gaze suddenly froze, a delighted smile slowly spreading on her lips.

“Activate <Wightprincess>’s effect!”

Qing Ji sent a card from her hand to the graveyard and shouted loudly.

“Send this card from hand to the graveyard.”

“All monsters on the field lose ATK and DEF equal to their Level/Rank × 300 until the end of this turn!”

Li Guanqi frowned, his smile slowly fading.

<Wightprincess>’s effect applies to both sides.

An eerie skeletal laugh echoed high above, a black aura descending to corrode the monsters on the field.

<Hydra> ATK: 2100 -> 300

<Vaskii> ATK: 2600 -> 200

<Spirit of Yubel> ATK: 0 -> 0

“Nice!” Hong Mi shouted excitedly, “<Wightprincess> also lowers her own monsters’ ATK, greatly reducing reflected damage!”

Qianquegong’s fans stood up screaming.

Bianyuelong’s fans disappointedly sat back down.

“Slap———-”

Painful thorns absorbed the attack and reflected it back.

Blue Side LP: 4000 -> 3700

Like a tickle, just 300 damage, Qing Ji smiled without concern: “Quite dangerous.”

She initially added <Wightprincess> to reduce the opponent’s ATK, hoping to reduce it to zero to combo with <Reptilianne>’s effect.

She hadn’t expected she would also use it to reduce her own ATK to survive.

“Well played.” Li Guanqi smiled slightly.

This <Wightprincess> wasn’t in his awareness; his way of thinking was still OCG-based and hadn’t integrated this segment.

“Not as good as you.” Qing Ji squinted her eyes.

“<Hydra>, <Vaskii>, attack <Spirit of Yubel>!”

Clap clap———–

Two waves of slight reflected damage.

Blue Side LP: 3700 -> 3400 -> 3200

“End Battle Phase.” Qing Ji moved to Main Phase 2 and slapped down a card.

“Activate Spell Card, <Monster Reborn>.”

“Special Summon <Wightprincess>.”

“I set one card, end turn.”

Turn Two ends.

Back: one set card

Field: <Reptilianne Recoil>

Hand: one hidden card

Blue Side LP: 3200

“End Phase.” Li Guanqi thought for a moment and said, “I activate the effect of <Grave Squirmer> in my hand.

I Special Summon this card without destroying cards.”

Red Side Chronicle Counter: 12

“My turn.”

Li Guanqi pressed his finger on the top of his Deck, and the sound of chains breaking echoed in the void.

“Draw!”

<Geistgrinder Golem>.

The main culprit in Yubel players bricking had finally been drawn, and at this moment it was useful.

His gaze swept over Qing Ji’s field, four points worth noting: one hidden card in hand, one set card in the back row, <Reptilianne Recoil> triggers a steal, and <Wightprincess> lowering ATK in Damage Calculation.

With 3200 LP left, it would likely take him more than two attacks.

Quite troublesome.

<Samsara D Lotus> can’t modify Damage Calculation monster effects, and it’s his own turn, he can’t control <Wightprincess>.

While pondering, the time reached the Main Phase.

The first step didn’t require much thought.

Li Guanqi waved his hand and said, “Activate <Mature Chronicle>’s effect, remove four Chronicle Counters, then destroy one card on the field without targeting!”

No matter the plan, breaking the back row first is always right.

“Set card activate————” Qing Ji frowned and waved her hand, “<Offering to the Snake Deity>!”

“Targeting one Reptile monster on my field and two cards on opponent’s field, destroy those cards.”

“Burn them all!”

A raging sea of flames erupted.

<Hydra> was sacrificed with agonized cries, turning into dark resentment that surged toward <Mature Chronicle> and <Nightmare Pain>.

“Chain activate <Eternal Favorite>!” Li Guanqi flipped his set card, “Targeting <Spirit of Yubel> in the graveyard, Special Summon that card.”

Activating in C3, <Spirit of Yubel> appeared again.

<Mature Chronicle> and <Nightmare Pain> melted in the fiery blaze, and as it’s a Continuous Spell destruction; Mature Chronicle’s C1 card destruction effect wasn’t processed.

“Activate <Spirit of Yubel>’s Summon effect.” Li Guanqi said, “Set <Nightmare Pain> face-down on the field.”

Qing Ji clenched the <Droll & Lock Bird> in her hand tightly and bit her teeth lightly.

This d*mn duel is infuriatingly precise.

<Spirit of Yubel>’s summon effect actually lets you either search or set one of two options.

Setting it can counter an incoming <Droll>.
