Anyways here is chapter 13!

enjoy~

===

On Zhu Yuan’s back, just above her hips, sat a piece of equipment that looked like a handlebar.

Its design was abstract, but its true purpose became clear right away.

Zhu Yuan reached behind her and tapped it.

The flap on top opened instantly, shooting out a sturdy rope.

The rope flew straight toward Qingyi, who grabbed it tightly.

Zhu Yuan continued descending while reaching out to pull Louis into her arms.

Louis suddenly felt his face press against something soft.

Then came the sharp jolt of an emergency brake.

Qingyi held the other end of the rope firmly.

The internal mechanism increased the friction, slowing their fall until they landed safely on the ground.

“Phew, that was amazing!”

Louis poked his head out from Zhu Yuan’s chest, stood up straight, and gave his verdict.

He really hadn’t expected a landing method like that.

The Special Task Force really was full of hidden talents.

“You’re pretty lucky.

We don’t get to do something like this even once a month.”

Qingyi jumped down from the outer wall of the building.

She planted her long staff beside her and brushed the dust off her uniform as she spoke.

Her gaze lingered on Louis with clear meaning.

Zhu Yuan said nothing.

She drew her pistol from its holster again, disengaged the safety, and scanned the surroundings carefully.

Even though being held so tightly a moment ago was embarrassing, she knew Louis hadn’t done it on purpose.

She had no time to dwell on it now.

The Hollow was no place for idle thoughts.

They could be ambushed by Ethereals at any second.

Those monsters either didn’t show up at all, or they came in hordes.

Sure enough, Zhu Yuan had barely taken a few steps when several monsters with crystallized bodies appeared before them.

These creatures stood about 1.6 meters tall.

Their heads were pitch-black Hollows, exactly like the standard Ethereal design.

Their hands and feet were sharp crystals, and their bodies were slender.

They looked like pure cannon fodder.

“Let’s go.”

Zhu Yuan spoke to the other two and strode forward without hesitation.

Louis felt like Zhu Yuan had turned into a black shadow.

She closed in on the two Ethereals ahead with incredible speed.

The moment she reached one, she planted her foot on the ground.

Her strongest leg, the right one, whipped up like a long lash and slammed into the side of the Ethereal’s head.

Bang!

A sharp explosion rang out as the black hole on the Ethereal’s head shattered instantly.

The other Ethereal reacted and swung its sharp crystal arm at Zhu Yuan.

Getting hit by that would leave a hole clean through a person.

But Zhu Yuan was faster.

Her pistol was already raised and aimed at its head.

Continuous gunfire echoed through the Hollow.

The second Ethereal’s body was shredded by the bullets and slowly crumbled into a pile of debris.

Two Ethereals down.

Zhu Yuan had taken care of both by herself in just three seconds.

“Is this…

the strength of a Special Task Force captain?”

Louis looked somewhat dazed.

This was the normal reaction for an ordinary person.

He knew human combat power in this world was ridiculous, but he hadn’t expected it to be this ridiculous.

He almost wanted to ask who the real monsters were.

“If she didn’t have this level of skill, how could she be a captain?”

Qingyi patted Louis on the shoulder as she spoke.

A woman like Zhu Yuan — powerful, with an amazing figure and beautiful looks — naturally attracted the opposite sex.

Just looking at the way Louis stared, it was obvious he was completely captivated.

“Those were supposed to be your opponents, but this is a search and rescue mission.

Just follow us for now.”

Zhu Yuan ejected the magazine from her pistol, slapped in a fresh one, and spoke to Louis as she moved forward.

The ones she had just killed were the lowest-level Ethereals.

There was nothing impressive about it.

These were the kind of monsters rookies were supposed to handle.

Right now, she didn’t have time to watch Louis fight them.

Everything would have to wait until the mission was over.

“Understood.

I’ll do my best to keep up.”

Louis didn’t say anything more.

He simply expressed that he would try his hardest.

Zhu Yuan nodded, and the three of them continued deeper into the Hollow.

After walking for about another ten minutes, both Zhu Yuan and Qingyi suddenly stopped.

They saw two figures sprinting down the street ahead.

One human and one robot.

Right behind them was a massive Ethereal.

It stood three meters tall with thick, powerful limbs.

Its left hand was a diamond-shaped crystal shield, while its right hand had turned into a huge cleaver.

One look was enough to tell it was extremely dangerous.

This was definitely a regional boss-class Ethereal.

Zhu Yuan had wanted to rush in to rescue them, but the two fleeing figures suddenly vanished after crashing into a wall.

It wasn’t an illusion.

The space inside the Hollow was just that chaotic. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.

What looked like a solid wall could actually be an exit or passage.

The massive Ethereal came to a halt.

It knew that behind that wall was an exit from the Hollow.

If it left the Hollow, it would perish.

So it could only stop there and let out a roar of frustration.

But it quickly sensed the presence of other humans nearby.

Its black-hole head turned, locking onto Zhu Yuan and Qingyi.

“It’s a Dullahan,” Qingyi said, her expression turning serious.

The Security Bureau had been fighting Ethereals for many years.

They had developed their own system for classifying these monsters by name and strength.

The Ethereal in front of them, armed with both shield and blade, was an elite specimen.

“Look at the scraps of clothing on its body.

This is…

a human who was just transformed.”

A flash of pity crossed Zhu Yuan’s eyes.

The clothes on the Dullahan were brand new.

It was a newly created Ethereal.

Just ten minutes ago, it might have still been a living person.

“This is bad.

Being eroded by ether energy and turning into a Dullahan makes it far more dangerous than a naturally born one.

This person had almost no Aether Adaptability before death.

That’s why the mutation was so complete.”

Qingyi was no longer as relaxed as before.

The stronger a human’s Aether Adaptability, the more dangerous they became after turning into an Ethereal.

But there were exceptions.

Humans with zero adaptability absorbed far more ether energy because they were so easily eroded, leading to a more powerful mutation.

“Gahhh!”

A piercing screech erupted from the Dullahan’s black-hole head.

From the surrounding buildings, swarms of ordinary Ethereals poured out.

Some were humanoid, others beast-like.

They charged toward the trio as if following the Dullahan’s command.

The scene instantly turned chaotic.

“Louis, protect yourself.”

Faced with this situation, Zhu Yuan’s first thought was to take on the Dullahan herself while leaving the small fry to Qingyi.

As for Louis, his survival rate was actually quite high, so there was no need to worry too much about him.

After speaking, Zhu Yuan combined the weapon modules on her arms, waist, and thighs.

They transformed into a high-tech missile launcher.

She lifted it with both hands and aimed at the cluster of Ethereals ahead.

“Suppressor K22, full salvo!” Zhu Yuan shouted.

Countless missiles streaked out from the launcher.

A series of violent explosions erupted within the group of Ethereals.

Their bodies were blasted into the air before crashing back down.

This time, Zhu Yuan had blown open a direct path toward the Dullahan.

She strode forward, charging straight at it.
