“Liam left the party before anyone else.” Anthony pointed it out.

“Was there anything strange you noticed about Mr.

Liam Foster?” Samantha asked.Full novel: 100 Faces — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Anthony again stared back at the man beside him.

“There was nothing strange as far as we could see.

Mr.

Liam is someone who is not social and would dive into his work most of the time.

He engaged in words very less and would only interact in parties when necessary.” Jeffery nodded, confirming his words.

“Yes, it has always been like that.

Mr.

Liam Foster would like to go on vacation from work and keep to himself most of the time.

He would hardly interact with any of us on holidays.

Which I think was a bit strange, as it was totally out of connection most of the time, but in the end, he would return and make good deals, so no one had any complaints.

The man needs some vacation with all the late nights he put into his work.”

Samantha nodded, “Is his family involved in this company?”

Jeffery shook his head in denial.

“His parents are not included in the company.

He is, after all, their only child and likes to keep it to himself.”

Samantha nodded, tapping into her phone.

“And there is no information on his marriage life.

He was not married, I understand.

Was there any love interest?”

Samantha raised her head as she asked.

Jeffery shook his head; his eyes were looking down on the floor, thinking hard.

“Not that we are aware.

All we know is he liked to keep things to himself mostly.”

This time Officer Jamie decided to ask the questions.

“I understand Mr.

Foster liked to keep to himself mostly, then how did you meet after all?

You were as good friends as you say.”

“Liam recruited us.

He said we are good for the job and offered us the position.

Jamie frowned a bit as he watched them.

There was something that was making the brothers nervous; they were not being clear to them.

Samantha decided to press a bit.

“Was there anything that was strange, or were there any rivals who would make such an attempt?”

Anthony scratched the corner of his forehead even though Jeffrey was confused with the idea.

“Forgive me, but Liam kept to himself most of the time.

We cannot say anything on this.

Around this office, there was no one who would wish to kill the boss.

They were all compensated and paid well.”

“There were rivals, but I doubt they would stoop as low as killing people.

I mean, there was strong rivalry, but none of them would attempt to kill.

I don’t think so.” Anthony was casual this time; he turned to Jeffery for confirmation.

Jeffery hesitated, but he nodded the next moment.

“I cannot say anything about any rivalry that would go so far as to killing anyone.

I always thought Liam was a neutral kind.

There were times he would be frustrated, but the anger would not be put on others.

Liam would only walk out of the office.

We thought it was the way he liked to cool down, that’s all, but now we are as confused as you are, detective.”

Samantha sighed; she could not find much information.

“And lastly, will it be alright if the police come here for interview from the employees as we are pretty much in a tight schedule, we would like to finish asking the employees for information before the time is up.”

Jeffery and Anthony looked a bit concerned with her words.

“Listen here, detective, we might be cooperating, but we cannot let you harm the minds of our office people.”

Samantha raised an eyebrow.

“Yes, I understand, but it will be a hamper if we do not follow the timeline created by Mr.

Liam Foster properly, so how about we make the people in the party only give the interview?

There might be a possibility the murderer followed him from the party to kill him.”

Jeffery gritted his teeth as he replied, “I understand; I will ask my assistant to forward you the name list.

However, detective, there is a request…”

He leans back on the sofa, releasing the breath he was holding in before continuing.

“This business is created from the sacrifices made from the workers and Liam together; please let the investigation not spread out too much in the media.

This will hamper the state of the company.”

His face darkened, and Samantha watched him in silence for a while.

She knew the man was trying to sweep things under the rug.

This is also the reason why she believed in the words of Detective Orion more.

There is something that points to a possible second killer in the people around him.

“Very well, thank you for your cooperation.” Samantha quickly took this chance to leave.

She knew there was more to find but not from here.

Jamie followed her.

He stayed quiet the whole time, letting the girl do her job, but he was keen and noticed the expressions of the two brothers when they talked to the things in the office room.

“Mr.

Liam did not have any family; that is strange.

I know a person can keep to himself a lot, but to have so much money on hand and not even have a girlfriend is something one would not expect now, right?”

Samantha was looking down the whole time as they left the office.

She did not make any eye contact with anyone in the office.

Jamie’s words seemed to be in the air only.

She walked into the lift.

Samantha wanted to open her mouth, but just then a hand came out and stopped the door from closing.

Samantha closed her mouth again.

He had a janitor’s uniform on, his face half-covered with the cap.

Jamie pushed Samantha back to the corner and decided to make a distance between them.

Having janitors in the office is not a big deal, but his protective mind cannot rest until they are out.

The janitor got in with his mop and bucket.

He made sure to only cover the button side of the lift and stayed there, keeping his back to the detectives.

The door was closing in, this time the receptionist who accompanied them to the office in the first place tried to get in but seeing the janitor close to the door with his mop in the middle, she frowned and decided to take a step back.

Jamie noticed the interaction; it seems the receptionist was pissed about not being able to get in.

The janitor, however, did not move; he stayed in his position.

The doors closed, and the lift started to go down.

Light music played in the wooden interior.

“The answers can be found if one searches the history; there is a crime done behind closed doors.” Words came from the janitor’s side.

Samantha and Jamie both turned to face him, but as soon as they tried to ask anything, the door opened to the ground floor.

“Excuse me…..” Jamie reached over with his right hand to hold him and ask, but the janitor quickly moved his mop and got out of the lift, quickly walking away before Samantha and Jamie could rush out and hold him back.
