Orion finished talking and decided to walk around along with Alex.

The team will arrive soon, but there was still some time left before they get up with the manager.

Alex stopped just close to the edge.Full novel: 100 Faces — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Is there anyone else who can get access to this place?”

“Irrespective of the manager and us, the ones who work in this hallway”, Dan explained.

Alex turned to face Orion.

“Get me the names of the people who work here.

They need to be questioned.

Also….” Alex turned around, checking the area.

His eye stopped at the door.

“Where is the footage from this camera?” He asked Orion.

Orion sighs, shaking his head.

“This one had missing reels like some of the others in this hotel.”

“And no one noticed it?”Alex ended with a sigh.

“Give me the timelines when the scenes are missing.” He chuckles.

“This is the work of the killer without a doubt.”

“Yes, I asked Samantha to check those reels, but the hotel is very strange; the security did not notice from the room when the reels went off.” Orion was feeling the pressure.

Alex nodded as he kept on talking.

He stopped in front of the edge.

“Yes, this was a planned attack; the killer already knew the secret life of Mr.

Anthony.”

Orion took a deep breath.

“No information was known by anyone we questioned.

We would be bringing the family to the station.”

He noticed that Alex did not move from the place he was standing.

He was looking at the edge with concentration.

“What are you looking at with so much concentration?”

He tried to look at what Alex was looking at and moved closer to inspect.

He took large steps towards Alex and stood beside him.

His boss was smiling and looking at the edge.

“I just found out how our killer dropped to the balcony.”

Orion’s eyes matched the gaze Alex was checking.

He was looking at the edge, holding on to both sides.

There was a gash mark in the middle.

“You think they used a grappling hook?”

“Yes, I know he did, and this will be more fun when we get the witness.”Alex replied.

“But there is no direct witness; no one came forward yet.” Orion argued.

“There is a witness; he is just afraid.”

Orion followed Alex’s gaze at the building before them.Just as he turned his face towards the sight, Alex was looking at heads peeking from the window on the other side.

The inhabitants were gazing with curiosity.

These were not buildings that one would stay in for a cheap rent.

With the hotel in front, there is a lack of renters on the other side of the building.

While everyone was directly looking at the inn there was one who was peeking form the side of the curtain.

He was watching carefully, at the hotel.

He kept his face hidden behind and only peeked.

The man did not notice two detectives were looking at him back.

Orion released a breath he was holding and reached for his phone.

Just then more people came out to the roof, and one by one they entered.

The manager of the hotel also entered the room; his eyes met the waiter, and he asked, but Dan only shook his head in confusion.

“Over here, check this one; I have a feeling there is a grappling hook here.”

Alex and Orion moved away as they started to brush the area and take pictures.

“This place has more shown in the place than the other one, interesting I might say.” Alex chuckles as he takes out a cigar.

He took a long puff as he waited for Orion to end the call.

“You were talking about a girl.

What about her?

She did not see anything.

She was inside the room after all.”

Alex asked slowly.

He understood something was missing here.

“The young lady is known as Candy; she was unconscious when the housekeeper found her.

The woman was exhausted due to over exertion and also her system contained chloroform, the killer must have made sure to make her out of order before going for Mr.

Anthony here.”Orion coughed as he explained.

“Mr.

Jeffery will have a hard time explaining now what the situation here is.

Mr.

Liam now is another person on the killing Mr.

Anthony both from the same construction company.

While one was killed in a lonely alleyway, the other one was killed in a hotel cheating with his wife.

“I always found it repulsive how you used to smile like that in any murder cases, but now it is catching.” Orion took out a cigarette as well and started smoking it.

They both watched as the scenes followed.

The scared-looking manager and waiter watch as their hotel becomes a target of the crime scene.

The place is combed totally with the help of the forensic unit for any proof living here, the police moving around asking everyone to take witness statement and lastly the reporters even though they are pushed back by the police taking enough pictures and videos surrounding them for the news.

It was a daily thing for the police but for the citizen it was a huge deal as the scenes followed.

“So, what happens next?

Clearly, this is the work of the 100 faces….” Orion asks, as Alex glanced at him with the side eye.

He was laughing at him.

“So, you finally believe me kid.”

“Not like that, it is just that I wanted to make sure of the case first.” Orion explained, a bit ashamed of the situation.

“Then we have to present the report to the boss; this time he will let me investigate thoroughly at least.” Alex laughs as they nod to the leaving forensic team.

Their work was very less here compared to the screening in the room.

The manager and the waiter came forward.

“Sir, my employer is having a fit; are we alright to have the room back?” Alex raised his eyebrow as Orion felt his jaw drop.

“It does not change wherever you go.

There is always someone who would make sure that you lose the trust in humanity.” Alex stated before chuckling at the man before him.

If it was the past, his young self would be scolding this man for being insensitive, but now he knows there is no way this one is speaking the word of his own; it is the owner’s word that is coming out of his mouth.

“Tell your employer the room will be closed until we finish examining the whole room properly; if he has trouble with that, it’s best to come over to the station to talk.” He took out a visiting card and handed it to the manager before motioning Orion to follow.

Orion sighs as the manager looks like he wanted to argue.

They both did not give him the chance to reply and moved to the door on the rooftop to leave.

“Why does it feel like the world is leaving its emotion to the grass day after day?

Are we totally turning into one of those robots?” Alex laughs as he walks inside the room.

“Just take a look at the hallway, we walked, the hotel had police moving around, however, none of the VIP’s even opened the door.

I am sure they noticed something happened.

Even if they did, their manager must have informed them of what is going on.

Yet, no one even opened the door.

This is the greed of money; it takes the humanity out of you when you indulge only in the shining part of it.” Alex huffed as the lift’s door closed.

“These big tycoons are so afraid of being in the negative publicity.

They don’t even have the human decency to come out and check the state of the dead.”
