Alex made a face with the information.
The coffee from his cup almost fell down as he turned to face his partner.
“Now don’t you contaminate my scene, Alex?”
The warning was directed to Alex from Emily.
Alex frowns, irritated at both, first to ignore the man and second to flinch at the idea.
“This man was cheating with his wife?”
Alex did not get shocked, but the news was confusing.
He did not expect the present victim right now.
His eyes moved to Anthony.
The man was in his bathrobe, and there was a female found in the room.
This was as scandalous as the reporters would love it to be.
“Do you wish to check the body yourself, or should I go for the next step?” Emily said to Alex.
Alex watched the way he was.
His eyes were closed.
Alex’s memory went to the past.
Was Liam like this or not?
He could not remember.
“It is the same killer, right?” He asked with a sigh.
The body is in a state in which no one would think of being found.
Emily nodded her head as she stood up straight.
“Yes, even the stage setup is the same; only the mask is different.
Also, I kept one on the right and the other one, the murder weapon, on the left.”
She pointed on both sides, “This time the mask was decorated with sparkles.
However, the knife was the same.
You would think the killer was trying to convey something to us with the masks.”
Emily almost squints her face in disgrace with the state of the body.
“I don’t understand what it is with people and cheating these days.”
Alex laughs at her command and crouches down a bit to check the victim for the last time.
His facial expression was comical as he checked the angle the body was in.
His eyes went for the places the body was stabbed.
“It has to be a surprise attack or someone with a stronger body.” He turned around to check the situation.
“It seems as such,” Orion sighed as well.
“I think you are correct about this being the 100-face killer.” Orion looked unhappy.
“I wish I was wrong, Orion; this is a killer; I have been chasing for a long time and never got to capture.” Alex got up his eyes moving around the different state the body was in.
“How did he get in and get out of this place without being noticed?
Surely the cameras would have something.
This murder happened at…” He pointed to the body and asked Emily.
“This murder happened around 2 am with the state the body is in, but I would have more idea when I take him back to the lab,” Emily replied.
“Then there should be cameras recording the entry of the person entering the room around that time… the hotel lobby had nothing to say?
“Thank you…” Emily did not reply and just nodded back as she signaled others to remove the body.
She was not happy with the amount of exposure the victim was getting with the camera before the police got to reveal anything.
It is no news that the channels love to exaggerate a lot.
She left without any more words.
Orion moved to let her have some space.
Emily left first, and after that the body was quickly put inside a black body bag and zipped, moving it from the balcony.
Orion watches as he twists his mouth.
Alex was waiting for him patiently as he watched the body being taken beside them.
Orion scratched the back of his head before telling him the answer.
“The thing is there is no entry of entering the hotel or leaving; the hotel claims there is no one.
Nothing is in the CC camera as well.” His shoulder sagged, sighing as he watched Alex curve his eyebrow, confused.
Orion thought Alex would scold or be angry with him.
This is unbelievable after all.
When Orion came first to the crime scene, he did not believe the words of the hotel employees as well.
He immediately wanted to check the cc camera and thankfully the hotel employees did not argue, the manager himself led them to the security control room.
They checked all the cameras around them; there was no footage of anyone entering or leaving the hotel.
It was like a ghost came in, killed the man, and got out before anyone could see him.
“He must have entered the hotel before then, but how did he get access to the key to this door?
Was anyone of the workers keys stolen?” Alex sipped from the cup again as he browsed the balcony scene from the place.
He stood; it is pretty far for anyone to notice anything; also, there is the cover of the night.
Orion shook his head.
“Nothing was captured in the CC camera as well.
It was totally empty with the last one being the room service to bring food and the house keeping the morning.” Orion sighs.
This was a case that was getting more and more complicated.
“The murderer did enter here through somewhere; if it is not the door, then can it be?”
He looked up.
“Is that even possible, Alex?
That place is very far from the roof.”
Orion joined him.
They both tried to avoid stepping on the blood, but the problem is, the blood was covered around the edge totally.
It was yellow-taped, and the body place was marked as well.
Alex took one more sip and motioned to Orion.
“Did they check the rooftop?” Orion only shook his head as he followed Alex out of the room.
They made their way through the interviewing police officers with the other clients of the hotel.
Alex and Orion glance at the faces of every client living in the hotel, as each one of them can be a suspect.
“There is no tampering of the CC camera, or I would have thought the same thing.” Orion sighs, as this was not a satisfying answer to the people.
The eleventh floor on the top was not the last one.
It was just the lift reached the eleventh floor and then stopped.
Alex got out of the lift first, followed by Orion; his eyes checked the hallway.
This was the VIP floor; even the police were required to inform the manager first before interviewing any client.
Alex thought it would be too late by the time they got any permission.
He grabbed a waiter from the hallway and pulled him to walk the staircase.
“Come with me….” He growled at the waiter.
“Sir… I …” The waiter was shocked as he struggled at first.
He was walking with a trolley in the middle.
His duty was canceled.
Orion was surprised at first with the attitude of his boss but got used to it, as this is nothing new.
Orion raised his hand and acted to pacify him with the gesture.
He tilted his head to say to follow the detective.
“What is your name, kid?”
Alex growled at the waiter.
The maroon-suited waiter with dirty blond hair stuttered at first but then cleared his throat as Alex stared at him with an angry face.
“I am called Dan here, sir.” He quickly spoke.
“Alright then, Dan, I have a question for you in this one.” He almost pulled him up the stairs as they quickly moved to reach the rooftop.
“Open this one first.”
The roof was not accessible to all.
It can only be opened by the workers with the badge.
“Interesting the clients do not get access to the rooftop, don’t you think?” Orion made a comment.
The boy called Dan flinched as he took out his employee card and pressed on the lock to open the door.
“This place is a VIP area, so not all customers can come here anytime they want.” He explained as he opened the door to let the detective get inside the rooftop.
Alex growled, but instead of grabbing the waiter, he pointed to him to get in with him.
Alex watches the area.
“Get the team to check this area.”
He motioned to Orion.
Orion quickly took out his phone to give orders.
“…
Bring the manager with you.”
His words became blurred as Alex watched the area.
He took a deep breath and watched the rooftop around him.
Alex was thinking hard as he took slow steps around the rooftop.
Dan stared at the detective waiting and watching; he was too scared to leave the rooftop and stayed at the position he was left.
Alex walked around the edge of the area.
His steps were making light prints without any sound.
