Lin Yiqiao bent down with a slight smile and said, “I came to play with him.”

After saying that, she didn’t care about Zhao Xinxin’s reaction and turned to leave.

She couldn’t get involved with Zhao Xinxin’s family matters right now. She still wasn’t sure how much Zhao Hui meant to Qi Jun, so she’d have to wait until she had him firmly in her grasp in a couple of days.Full novel: 1960s Spicy Little Soldier Girl: Boldly Teases the Cold Commander’s Heart — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

On the way back, she ran into a few military dependents. Lin Yiqiao simply greeted them warmly—she wasn’t ready to reveal that she and Qi Jun were dating yet.

Today had truly been a spur-of-the-moment decision. She had practically forced Qi Jun into a relationship, but if he really didn’t want to, who could force him?

The top priority now was to get closer to Qi Jun. Once she figured him out, wouldn’t he be completely under her control?

Lin Yiqiao hurried back home, where Qian Ru had already prepared dinner. “Auntie, didn’t we agree that I’d cook today?”

She quickly went to help Qian Ru serve the food. “It doesn’t matter who cooks,” Qian Ru said, taking off her apron while smiling at her.

Zhang Guoqiang wasn’t coming home tonight, so the two of them sat down to eat together.

Qian Ru had made Lin Yiqiao’s favorite stir-fried pork with chili peppers—spicy and flavorful. Lin Yiqiao ate it with a big steamed bun, savoring every bite.

Qian Ru looked at her and carefully began, “Yiyi, I saw you went to Commander Qi’s house today.”

Lin Yiqiao nearly choked. She swallowed the stir-fried pork in her mouth and said, “Auntie, actually… Qi Jun and I are dating.”

“What?!”

Although Qian Ru had already suspected something, she hadn’t expected Lin Yiqiao to already be in a relationship.

“What exactly happened? Tell me everything.”

Qian Ru’s expression turned serious, and Lin Yiqiao could guess what she was thinking.

“Auntie, don’t worry. I didn’t do anything inappropriate. We’re dating normally.”

Qian Ru still seemed doubtful. “Then how exactly did you two start dating?”

Lin Yiqiao didn’t like people digging into her affairs like this, not even family.

She brushed off Qian Ru’s questions with vague answers, and when she couldn’t handle it anymore, she simply ran upstairs.

Lying on her clean, soft little bed, Lin Yiqiao finally felt relaxed.

She knew what she was doing, and she was very clear about what she wanted.

Truth be told, she quite liked Qi Jun. If she liked something, she had to have it—that was Lin Yiqiao’s life principle.

She understood what her aunt meant. With nothing to her name, what did she have to offer in a relationship? Her aunt probably thought she wasn’t good enough for Qi Jun.

But so what? Who cared about being “good enough”? Men were all the same, and Lin Yiqiao knew that all too well.

Whether Qi Jun was just caught up in the moment or simply amusing himself with her, Lin Yiqiao wouldn’t let him slip away easily.

The next day, Lin Yiqiao woke up early and quickly packed her luggage. Her leave was almost over, and she had to return to the military today.

She wasn’t sure when Qi Jun’s injury would heal, but she still wanted to spend some tender moments with him.

Lin Yiqiao avoided others and went to Qi Jun’s house.

She knocked on the door and was surprised to find Qi Jun himself opening it.

She hurried forward. “Why are you up? Go back to bed and lie down.”

“I’m injured, not crippled.”

“Don’t say that! No talk of being crippled,” Lin Yiqiao said, her almond-shaped eyes wide like a bristling kitten.

“Alright, I won’t say it again,” Qi Jun said, his dark eyes fixed on her.

He wrapped an arm around Lin Yiqiao’s shoulder. She glanced up at him, but the man’s expression remained unchanged as the two walked into the small building.

“Is it just you here today?”

She looked at the empty living room, where the television was playing—it was actually in color!

“Hmm, they’ve all gone back for now.” Qi Jun walked over and sat down on the sofa.

Lin Yiqiao also went over and sat down. “This is actually a color TV!” Her bright, sparkling eyes were fixed on the screen, her face full of wonder.

Qi Jun glanced at her and smiled. “You can come here to watch it whenever you want in the future.”

“Mm, okay.” She wrapped her arms around the man’s strong, sturdy arm and rested her head on his shoulder.

“I’m going back to the army soon,” she paused for a few seconds, then looked at the man, her delicate nose brushing against his cheek. “Will you miss me?”

Qi Jun looked back at her. “Yes.”

Lin Yiqiao stared at him for a moment before turning away. “Hmph.”

“I’ll miss you too,” she finally blurted out after a long pause, her face flushed with shyness.
