The first human king had ushered in this period of prosperity for the Dark Faction, and his will had been carried out by the Dark Council all these while.

Cries were heard across the streets from the beings.

“The Obsidian Palace has a Ruler once again!” “Our King is Nigh upon us!” “All Hail the King!” Generally, most of the population took this news positively.

Even the various sovereigns of the various elemental kingdoms sent envoys to congratulate the Dark Faction for finding its new King.

Gifts were brought to offer up as marks of respect.

Even war with the Fire Nation resulted in a ceasefire for this momentous occasion.

Some critics do make their voices heard though.

Another Human king is unprecedented, it should go to another race.

Newspapers not aligned to the state broke out news headlines, stating the boy king is but a mere puppet, citing deep sources that knows the matter.

Not much people paid heed to these ramblings, except the occasional conspiracy theorists and anti-dark council beings.

Planning was underway for a grand coronation happening in a month’s time.

The city was cleaned up, beggars and thieves mysteriously disappeared from the streets, even in suburban areas.

Guards ramped up their patrols and presence throughout the kingdom.

It was going to be a major thoroughfare.

Meanwhile, Prince John, back in his palace, confined Prince Kenius to his room with his three mages creating and reinforcing more seals on him.

At night, Prince John also visited to charge up his corruption magic.

He wielded his son with absolute control, and once crowned, this puppet king will be the true key to him being the Shadow Ruler behind everything.

Seeing through his own eyes, Prince Kenius’s spirit now knows the urgency of the whole matter.

He will be controlled all his life unless he did something.

He sought out the great bat for help.

“Great Phantasm, things are getting dire out there.

I need help to get strong enough to get out.

What can you do or tell me to speed things up.” The great bat opens its eyes and went down till it was eye level with Prince Kenius.

A giant bestial bat crouching over to look at a human is indeed a sight to behold.

“You desire help, and I can offer it.

However, what do you plan to give in exchange?” “Give in exchange?

What do you mean?” Prince Kenius remarked.

“Some kings offered things like body parts, like one of their eye, or even a limb or two.

Those are nothing.

Most offer a certain emotion.

Joy, Sadness are a common one.

Others offer more extreme things, like their soul, but they will not live long and a dreaded fate awaits them, denied the peace of death.” “For example, the previous human king offered his own talent.

That is where he secured his main aspect of dark magic.

” “Wait what?

You meant that the first human king, did not get the dark magic through awakening?” “Oh no, he did.

However, he had a twin brother and they both awakened two talents each.

It was a rare occurence.

While the First Human King was more gifted in his own talent, he gave it up to pursue dark magic and the road of Kingship.

His brother, who was more suited for dark magic, was denied the chance to even try for Kingship merely because the First Human King was born earlier and made the choice that sealed his fate when they approached me.

He then became strong because he gave up 2 things: 1.

His own potential in his own talent 2.

His brother’s potential at kingship That decision has its own consequences, but I digress.

Although, history does show that Kingship is often accompanied by trials and tribulation.

Read up your own history when you are free, I am not your teacher.

You currently are fighting my shadow partner at level 10.

While it is not bad for someone your age, the Princes in the council are definitely way stronger.

You need to brush up on that aspect you are forming in order to stand a chance.” Prince Kenius gripped his sword, and retorted.

“The theory of Nothingness, a new concept.

I have been trying to form thesis and theories on how the darkness can turn things into nothing.

Through conversion, destruction, and more but it always left something behind, resulting in the complete breakdown and failure of my thesis.” The great bat stood back up and say: “If that is the case, hone the other aspects first.

Get stronger and get out of this prison.

Comfy as it has been, its starting to get boring.

If you do not do something, I will be forced to do something to break out, you know.” The last line hit something in Prince Kenius’s mind.

“Wait, you mean you can break out of this at any time, even now?” The great bat gave an assertive grunt.

“Then, why don’t you free us?

Instead of playing prisoner?” The great bat open its mouth and its fangs appeared.

It growled at Prince Kenius and Prince Kenius was completely blown off.

“Even if I were to free you, like I said before, what will you do next?

Be recaptured or let them kill you?

You are not worthy of being saved yet.” It then flap both its wings once, sending out a gale of wind that blasted onto Prince Kenius.

“Weak, so weak.

I tell you what, if you can defeat 5 shadow partners at level 30, I may consider it.” With that, the shadows on the ground began to roil, and 5 shadow partner beings formed out, taking their stance.

“Alright, I accept your challenge!” and the fight begins, the five shadow partners vs a Prince sealed in his own body.

More days passed, and the Council appointed coronation committee has set up the land for the arrival of its new king.

Dignitaries and Envoys from the various nations and races arrived in the dark faction to attend the ceremony.

Noble families of the dark faction were also present.

Meetings with the dark council were on the agenda all day.

Trade cooperation, mutual defense pacts, even hiring of armies were discussed and it was a fruitful time for the dark council.

At the end of the day, Prince Ryggatigris spoke to the council.

“We, as the dark council, has been the stewards of the Dark Faction and ensuring all is good.

While we have a King about to be crowned tomorrow, the role is a symbolic position.

I reckon we should handle state matters while letting the King handle official ceremonies and such.” Prince John stood up and scolded:” Sacrilege.

Blasphemy.

How dare you even try to suggest this.

The King is the true ruler of the Dark Faction.

It is up to them to do what they require to tide us through crisis.

We of the dark council knows that the appointment of the King means trials are heading our way, and yet you seek to limit the King’s power?!

If your son was the one appointed as King, this stupid suggestion would not have even left your mouth!” The other princes deliberated and discussed among themselves.

Sensing the room is not on his side, he tried to play it off.

“A mere suggestion, the King is still young and I had hoped not to place such a huge burden on him, hence the idea.” Prince John saw that Prince Ryggatigris has backed off and cornered, he should go for the kill.

“Prince Ryggatigris, that is a blatant lie.” He lifted and point the sword of imminent darkness at the Werebeast Prince.

“Tomorrow, is the coronation itself.

Your actions here are suggesting that you do not wish the humans to gain power.

Your personal vendetta and jealousy has caused you to make treasonous statements over and over again.

When my son is crowned King tomorrow, I will personally suggest to him that the first order of business is to clean house and get rid of pests like you!” Prince Ryggatigris, knowing not only his reputation but now his life at stake, apologized for his remarks.

He bowed to Prince John, offering sentiments that he meant no disrespect to the upcoming King.

The other princes snicker at the scene in front of them, while Prince John accepted the apology with the magnanimity of his heart.

However, it was clear to anyone that the Runaway Prince had suffered a huge humiliation.

Even allies like the vampire lord and hollow sovereign now distanced themselves from him.

Prince Ryggatigris’s standing is at stake here.

Prince John then cut through the silence.

“Alas, my fellow members, it is time to retire for the night.

Tomorrow morning is a big day for the Dark Faction.

Our glorious days are approaching.

See you all tomorrow.” The princes left the assembly hall, leaving Prince Ryggatigris alone, gripping the edges of the table.

“I swear I will not let that man gain power!

Prince John, you filthy little scumbag, I will have my revenge on you!” Prince Ryggatigris then snapped his fingers, summoning his Night Guard.

A leather bound being, wrapped in cloth and leather with only eyes visible knelt beside him.

“Yes, Your Highness?” “Issue my command, the Night Guard are to assassinate the King tomorrow, once he sat on the Obsidian throne.

Also, at the same time, assassinate Prince John.

The line of Humans will end.” The night guard, hesitated, then said: “Sir, even with both of them gone, the Line of Humans will not end.

There is still the missing previous headmaster, Mensarius.” Prince Ryggatigris glared at his own staff: “Now, even you dare to talk back to me!?

Get rid of all of them!” “At once, Your Highness!” and the Night guard disappeared into the night.

The day of coronation is tomorrow.

Many machinations are in place.

Who will ultimately come out the winner of all this?
